About

"Avenue Q" is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is "Avenue Q"; still, the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian, the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fiancée, Christmas Eve; Nicky the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod--a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary Coleman?!? (Yes, that Gary Coleman.) Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

    Great show. So funny!

This was an amazing show. I have been a big fan of the music for so long. I am glad I could finally get to see the show. The cast were increcible. Although, they are not from the Broadway show, you will get just as good of a performance. They were top dollar actors and I didn't have to break the bank to see it! The only thing to complain about would be the sound system. The mics cut out quite a few times, but the actors did a fine job of projecting. GO SEE THIS SHOW!!!

    I lived on Avenue Q!

by MoonlitRaven on 10/3/09Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

I had heard some of the songs before through the wonders of YouTube and always wanted to go see the play. I was not disappointed. The play was hilarious. It moved very quickly, and the music numbers were engaging. And seeing muppets swear is just so wrong! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone with an off sense of humor.

    queue for Q

by Francko on 10/3/09Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

I never did quite get over just watching the puppets and not the performers. But that did not detract from the performance as a whole and the frank statements that were so humorously and effectively presented to the audience. We are really a little bit racist and, yes, people, the internet is much used for porn! But it also touched on the real-life struggles of everyday people- people struggling with finances, with their sexual identity, with their past, with their purpose. The staging and singing were enjoyable and entertaining. If you didn't expect the topics that emerged and are on the conservative side, you may have been quivering in your seats. But that's real life and you shouldn't have been there to begin with. Overall, it was a worthwhile evening of entertainment that you should not miss!

The show Thursday evening was great! It harbored great voices and fantastic comedy. It was the perfect show to take your mind off of everything that could be stressing you. A job well done to the cast, producers, and everyone else involved with the show. It was great to see so many people out supporting the arts.

Avenue Q, It'd suck if you miss it!!!

What a wonderful show! From the first moment when you hear the Theme, to the last note of the show, you will thouroughly enjoy yourself. This show is definitely not recommended for children, so if you are thinking about taking yours I would say don't. The music is infectious, and the story line familiar. The Characters are all partially based on those you would find on Sesame Street, but with the problems every 20-something in the Country has been through. This show has a extremely talented cast. Every note is well sung, and the lines are delivered with perfect comic timing. Definitely a don't miss!

Avenue Q Boasts Big Laughs, Big Gasps

by 1970 on 9/30/09John H. Mulroy Cvc Ctr Theaters at Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater - Syracuse

Not for the faint of heart, Avenue Q's singing puppets force the audience to confront their own views on a variety of tough social issues like racism, homosexuality, and religion. "Everybody's a little bit racist," is a great song and a reality check for most. "It's OK if your gay, but I'm not," shows how far we've come to accept homosexuality and the miles we still have to go. Be prepared for the full-frontal puppet nudity. This show is a blast. It's funny, shocking, and thought-provoking. Be prepared for a post-show analysis with your friends. I only wish I got better seats so that I could hear the show's dialogue and lyrics more clearly. You'll never look at Sesame Street the same way again.

    Amazing for ADULTS!

Really enjoyed the show...has lots of good messages presented in a funny irreverent way. Loved the opening "It Sucks To Be Me" and closing number "It's Only For Now." Only criticism I have is that some of the dialogue and some of the lyrics were not understandable from where I sat....Orch H-1 on the aisle...and I had only listened to the CD of the show once before seeing it live.

It would suck to be the person who hates the Show!

by FoxyRoxie on 8/15/09Colonial Theatre - Boston

The Show is a great parody of Sesame Street for Adults & Teens. (There is Adult Content) The puppets make the show! If you are into Heavy Choreography this might not be the show for you but if you like the comedy part of musical-comedies you'll love the show!!! I'm sad that the Broadway show is ending This September (2009) =(.
