About

"Avenue Q" is the story of Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad who comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He soon discovers that the only neighborhood in his price range is "Avenue Q"; still, the neighbors seem nice. There's Brian, the out-of-work comedian and his therapist fiancée, Christmas Eve; Nicky the good-hearted slacker and his roommate Rod--a Republican investment banker who seems to have some sort of secret; an Internet addict called Trekkie Monster; and a very cute kindergarten teaching assistant named Kate. And would you believe the building's superintendent is Gary Coleman?!? (Yes, that Gary Coleman.) Together, Princeton and his newfound friends struggle to find jobs, dates, and their ever-elusive purpose in life.

    Avenue Q gets an A!

by MJMonster on 10/6/09Sovereign Performing Arts Center - Reading

Avenue Q is creative and hysterical. There is a fine, fine line between funny and twisted... and Avenue Q has found the perfect blend of a blurred line. Each performer seemed perfect for their part/character. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening!

Saw this show for the first time in NYC and couldn't wait to go see it again when I found out it was coming to the area. It's impossible not to laugh the entire time and leave with a smile on your face.

Went to see Avenue Q on Sunday afternoon and I'm still laughing. It was hilarious. The cast was great. The expressions on the actors faces were priceless. When we left my sides were hurting from all the laughter.

    Laugh out loud funny

by marsiak on 10/5/09Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

As 50 somethings my husband and I did not know what to expect of this unusual performance....puppets?? We were pleasantly surprised at how funny, sad, sensitive, disrespectful, insightful, and outright outrageous this show is. The music score helped the performance with upbeat catchy tunes. The only downside is that when the puppeteers are using high voices (such as the bad idea bears)it is sometimes difficult to make out what they are actually saying. It did not impact the overall performance however. I would recommend this show to anyone who wants to laugh out loud and release some endorphins! No children under 17 however-the puppets are sometimes rated R.

    Avenue Q Was Amazing

by JLPM on 10/5/09Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

My husband and I were laughing from the opening number. Who knew puppets could be so subversive! I now understand why this show won the Tony Award. Everyone who enjoys musical theater that is not the sugary, fluffy standard should see Avenue Q!

    Very funny show.

by YoungV on 10/4/09Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

I really did not know what to expect. Especially since you can see the Muppets handlers. But it works even better that way, because the handlers movements reinforces those of the Muppets. This is not a kids show but it is a very good time. I highly recommend it!

    Avenue Q is hysterical!

by LokiRawr on 10/4/09Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

I definately recommend it for anyone who loves to laugh. It certainly is a little different from most of the other broadway musicals out there featuring songs like "The Internet is for Porn" and "You can be as loud as the hell you want when you're making love". I recommend atleast age 16 or over due to some questionable topics covered in the play. However, go see it, it's worth it.

by Rosebud8008 on 10/4/09Scranton Cultural Center - Scranton

3 words! Wonderful, Spectacular, and Hilarious! My boyfriend told me about this show. At first I just thought it was just going to be anouther stupid comedy. But boy was I ever wrong! I went to the Scranton Cultural Center it was so pretty! The Staff was nice to tell us when the show was going to start, and they even directed us to our seats. They had a food stand for 15 minutes for when the cast took a brake. Not to mention the seats were comfortable. The play was so Hilarious that I just could not stop laughing non stop! The puppets were the best ever especially Trekie Monster he was hilarious! I had a wonderful experience for this play and will never forget it!
