About

Despite their calm, clean cut exterior, the five Pennsylvania young men who make up August Burns Red produce high-energy metalcore music that calls to hard-rock ticket buyers. Formed in 2003 while in their senior year of high school, the quintet has since signed to Christian label Solid State and released six studio albums, including the most recent “Rescue & Restore.” That collection, which peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200, followed their 2012 holiday release entitled “August Burns Red Presents: Sleddin’ Hill, A Holiday Album.”   Though the band’s tour plans have included multiple runs as part of the Vans Warped Tour, as well as headlining concerts in the US and Europe, August Burns Red has dealt with lineup changes throughout their decade-long life. Only three original members are still onboard to-date: guitarist JB Brubaker, guitarist Brent Rambler and drummer/pianist Matt Greiner. Frontman Jake Luhrs signed on in 2005, and bassist Dustin Davidson joined a year later.

    Technical Ecstacy

by Jakob RT on 11/25/23Emo's Austin - Austin

Its rough when you see your favorite band come out with grey in their hair. It reminds you that time comes for us all, and as they aged so have you. But as ABR aged they continued to hone their craft to the point of technical ecstacy. Riffs, solos, and blast beats with only a 2 minute intermission in their show, ABR have earned there place as legends of the scene. Accompanying the music was a light and laser show that rivals a TOOL performance. The opening acts were phenomenal aswell, especially the band SPITE who stood out with their diverse set. Even if your not into throwing down in the mosh pit, the show was well worth the price and it is a must see for any metal or hardcore fan.

    The Line Up

by Ryan on 11/25/23Emo's Austin - Austin

I really liked all of these bands going into the show.. but I have to say, Crystal Lake really killed it. I really liked august burns red, but it felt like crystal lake really should have been later or even the headliner. The other bands played really well, but the show Crystal lake put in kind of shadowed the rest of the concert

    its a disney place sooo

by Hails on 11/22/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

they packed us in like sardines like definitely too many people, and could hardly hear the vocals for any of the bands. i go to smaller shows all the time that are so much better and i expected a LOT more from a such a big disney venue.

    Best band ever

by Anthony on 11/21/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Great openers with a lot of energy. Tight playing, fun venue, great staff. Everything about seeing ABR at the HoB Orlando is a pleasure, and this is my 5th time there to see them. I'm in a wheelchair, and they make everything as accommodating as possible and are helpful and friendly. I got to meet multiple performers, both at the merch tables and after the show when Matt jumped down to greet his fans. Everything about seeing ABR at the HoB Orlando is a pleasure, and this is my 5th time there to see them. Waiting for the next time they're in town to go again.

One of the best nights in my life.

by Christopher Lopez on 11/21/23House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

What an awesome performance! They sound clean, polished, much like the studio, but somehow even better. All the guys in the band are awesome people, they love what they do, their fans, and it shows. They also have a sweet merch table with lots of goodies. I got a shirt and a cymbal signed by Matt Greiner. Unforgettable experience.

    Positively slaps

    by NinjaGuyDan on 11/19/23

I consider ABR top 5 best metalcore of all time. Maybe even top 2. I’ve been seeing them live for a long long time now, and the tour they have with spite, bos, and crystal lake is a banger fest. They nailed every note and the vibes are masterful.

Loved it cuz I was smashed the whole time

by Xaremathras on 5/15/23The Danforth Music Hall - Toronto

I actually never listened to these bands before, but I was really drunk (boozed out of my car, I wouldn’t pay $12/beer at this venue) and the energy and mosh pit were awesome. Burnt at least 1500 calories. I couldn’t understand anything the bands aid (screamed?) but it didn’t matter cuz I was in my happy place (head banging).

First two bands gear but the ABR sound mix..

by Pix on 5/14/23MTELUS - Montreal

The first two bands' mixes were crystal clear but the one for ABR was laughably bad, we could not tell what song was being played. I am saying this after having been in the pit, in the middle, in the back and on the balcony. I left after 4 songs of ABR, very unfortunate as I am quite a fan of their music and I can tell from live videos that their playing is tight live as well.
