About

For over two decades, Atmosphere has maintained a course of rigorous output, releasing over two dozen studio albums, EP's and collaborative side projects in as many years. In that time, the venerated duo have built a legacy out of bringing honesty, humility and vulnerability to the forefront of their music, continually challenging themselves to evolve without straying too far from their roots. Slug has proven masterful at storytelling and writing compelling narratives, leaving a trail of his own influence while paying homage to the rappers and songwriters that helped shape him. Ant has skillfully molded the soundtracks with inspiration from soul, funk, rock, reggae, and the wizardry of hip-hop's pioneering DJ's and producers, creating his own trademark sounds while providing the pulse for songs about life, love, stress and setbacks. At its essence, Atmosphere has been a musical shepherd, and with each new album comes a new journey as they guide generations of listeners through this thing called life.

  • atmosphere killed it

by rawss on 4/27/11The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

i have seen atmosphere before and it was garbage. slug was very egotistical at the other show, acting like he was eminem. this show, he really worked the crowd and seemed to realize his place in hip hop. real hip hop is once again alive and well.

  • Great performance

by ThaddeusKeystone on 4/26/11The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

They didn't play as much old stuff as I had hoped but the overall show was amazing. There was a great sense of community and the over all atmosphere (no pun intended) was enthralling.

  • SO. AMAZING.

10 stars. AMAZING stage presence, AMAZING live voices, AMAZING set list. I would see Atmosphere again in a heartbeat - I didn't want it to end! The other acts were sick while they were happening but nothing could come after or beat Atmosphere/Slug's performance. Can't wait until next time they're all in the area!

  • Atmosphere was amazing

    by Shakes11 on 4/26/11The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

This was probably one of the best concerts i ahve ever been to in my life. The opening acts were great and when Atmosphere came out they killed it. They played a variety of songs which is great for any committed fan. I would highly recommend this event to everyone who enjoys Atmosphere and the rest of Rhyme Sayers.

  • Amazing.

can't speak for everyone, but I thought this show was absolutely awesome. every performer killed it & Grieves signed my boob after his set. what more could a girl ask for?

  • Great Show!!!

I have to say that I was blown away by the whole Family Tour.. especially by Grieves and Budo who's lyrical styling I was introduced to for the first time that night. Grievs writes poetry and Budo, I love his beats, music, everything! The two are just so talented by themselves, but together they are a force. And of course, Atmosphere, was the icing on the cake. He played a great set with some old songs.. I love when artists do that even when promoting a new album. It shows he has a strong loyal following because the crowd recited every word..new and old.. I have to say that I am walking into this week completely inspired and satisfied.

Everything about the show and the Electric Factory was wonderful!

  • High Production Quality

by jsick on 4/26/11The Electric Factory - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Atmosphere kept a good narrative throughout the performance. His band was outstanding, and the guitarist's vocals added a better tonal sound than on the records themselves. The lighting and set design were superb, and really added to the experience by changing drastically for different songs. He played one too many slow songs in a row, and could have played more crowd favorites from his older albums. His stamina and connection with the crowd made this one of the best hip-hop style concerts I have been to.

DJ Abilities was great, Blueprint - liked the band, the front man was ok, Sab the Artist was fun, Grieves with Budo was insane and I loved it - looking forward to the album this summer. Atmosphere absolutely killed it. Other hip-hop artists could seriously learn a lot from him about building up the mood in a room. It was high energy for the entire (very long) set.

Got there an hour and a half early. The line got really long. The venue was sold out. Slug even came out to take pics, sign autographs, and shake hands with the fans waiting in line. These dudes are really grateful, humble dudes just playing for fun, and having a good time. GREAT SHOW!! Any Rhymesayers concert is well worth every penny! Atmosphere is definitely a great inspiration. We were in the front row. AMAZING!

  • Epic Concert

    by lex420 on 4/23/11Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a huge Atmosphere fan. The open bands did a great job of pumping the crowd up and I loved every second of it. between bands they had a sick DJ playing too. all around, a great atmosphere for the Atmosphere concert. oh yeah, and it was on 420. that helped too:)

  • Atmosphere Blew the Roof off The Newport

by UglyAndGodLovesMe on 4/22/11Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing, incredible!!! The concert was two days ago, and I'm STILL pumped. Atmosphere is all I want to listen to now. I can't help it. The crowd was fantastic. I've always been weary of going to the Newport because there's no seating, and I felt like I wouldn't be able to see anything, but we got right up front! I could see his eyes.....clearly!!! Awesome, awesome, awesome.

  • Atmosphere was so dope

    by Tomcat15 on 4/22/11Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Couldn't ask for a better show. Not only was atmosphere great but all the opening bands and DJs did a hell of a job. With it being 420 the atmosphere was electric. No pun intended

  • Rhymesayers put together an amazing show!

by Anonymous on 4/22/11Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

With four openers, this show by Atmosphere, and their self-owned label Rhymesayers, was not only good, it was great. I went to see Atmosphere and they did not disappoint. They played for almost an hour and a half. Before they came on stage Slug shook hands with the crowd and the openers blew it away. Grieves and Budo put together an awesome set, and Blueprint was unforgettable as well. Don't miss this show if it is near you. I drove an hour to see it and I am glad I did.

  • Atmosphere..it's just a 10-letter word.

by Happymess on 4/22/11Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Such a sick show, seriously was more of a best of than a new album show. The venue only amplified the experience. 10/10.
