Atlanta Gladiators at Infinite Energy Arena

Duluth, Georgia, is home to the Atlanta metro area's professional hockey team. The Atlanta Gladiators are in the South Division of the ECHL's Eastern Conference, where they face stiff competition from the likes of the Florida Everblades, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the Jacksonville Icemen, the Norfolk Admirals, the Orlando Solar Bears and the South Carolina Stingrays. The Gladiators play out of the Infinite Energy Arena, which opened in 2003 and currently seats 13,100. Their coach and general manager is Jeff Pyle, who previously had success coaching the Gladiators from 2003 to 2011.

Atlanta Gladiators History

The Atlanta Gladiators continue a long tradition of hockey excellence in the metro Atlanta area. Two National Hockey League franchises have played in downtown Atlanta: the Flames (who played at the Omni from 1972 to 1980 before moving to Calgary), and the Thrashers (who played at what is now known as State Farm Arena from 1999 to 2011 before becoming the Winnipeg Jets). The Atlanta Knights of the International Hockey League lasted only from 1992 to 1996, but in that brief time they won the 1994 Turner Cup, and employed John Paris Jr. as the first black head coach in professional ice hockey, as well as goaltender Manon Rhéaume, the first woman to play a regular season game in men's professional ice hockey.

The Atlanta Gladiators first took to the ice in 1995 as the Mobile Mysticks, where they remained before taking a hiatus for the 2002-03 season and moving to Gwinnett County, Ga., the following year. The Gladiators have a shared history with the Atlanta Thrashers, as the Thrashers' ECHL affiliate off and on from 2003 to 2011, when they were known as the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Gladiators rebranded in 2015 as the Atlanta Gladiators, and became affiliated with the NHL's Boston Bruins and the AHL's Providence Bruins, a partnership which continues to this day.

    Great Gladiator!!

by JerryRitaS on 4/8/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

We don't get many opportunities to get to see the Gladiators, but this time, as always, was a grand time! The team plays a great game. The Arena is easy to get to, good parking and the staff are friendly and VERY helpful. In the 3rd period, I went to the consession stand for popcorn. They were out and I decide to simply forego it, as it was the last period. When one of the staff who had overheard the interchange at the consession stand came down to my seat to tell me the popcorn had arrived, my wife and I were stunned and delighted over the personal attention. I wish I had gotten his name.

Gladiators fans are a mixed bag.

by StingrayJoeyK on 4/8/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

Like almost everywhere, the Gwinnett Gladiator's fans range from super nice to rude redneck. We met both at this event and unfortunately, the dangerous & uneasy feelings the rude fans created will most likely keep us from returning for a long time. If they don't want us spending our money there, then so be it.

Great fun for a great price. Best view of the game is about 8 or more rows back from the glass. Dont get me wrong, its cool to sit on the glass and bang away, but the glass distorts your view as the puck moves one way or the other. This particular game was AMAZING! If youre thinking about it......stop and just do it!

    Regular season finale

by TheArgus on 4/1/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

Going to the Gladiators game is such fun and easy time. Buy my tix on TM and print them, free parking just yards away from the entrance, and very fun entertainment for the family. We arrived early to tailgate in the parking lot with a few other families. Kids played street hockey in the empty parking lot. Great game! The Glads finish on a win. Hopefully they can take that momentum into the playoffs.

Star Wars Night with Special Guest AC/DC cover

by TheArgus on 3/25/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

One of the best nights I ever had at a Glads game. They filled the house and it was rocking. My Son enjoyed that it was Star Wars night with all the Storm troopers prancing around the lobby. To top it off, there was an AC/DC cover band jammin out some oldies but goldies.

    Gladiators

by Julaz on 3/17/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

The game was exciting. Players even interacted with fans in times other than play time. The arena is clean and nice but extremely overpriced. They even ran out of the souvenir cups that were suppose to be a part of the combos but still charged the $5.50 for it. Tried to use the ATM for cash...charges $6. Wow.

    Great Game Nice Facility

by HerschelDirtwater on 1/29/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

The only hockey in Atlanta is the Gwinnett Gladiators and they play in a very modern and clean arena near John's Creek off of I85. The quality of the hockey is very good (they are only 2 steps from the NHL) and the fan base is loyal and enthusiastic. Tickets are very reasonable even for great seats so I would recommend this venue to anyone who loves hockey and misses it here in Atlanta.

Been a hockey fan for years, The Gladiators have a good team, and the Arena is a great place to see a game. All the seats have an excellent view of the rink. Nice concessions, and a good place to take the family.

    Great Gwinnett atmosphere!

by kennyws on 1/21/13Gwinnett Arena - Duluth

I attended my first hockey game at the Gwinnett Arena. I was greeted enthusiastically by the ticket taker when he saw that I printed out my own tickets. The Arena was neat and clean. The event was very fan friendly and the game was fun to watch. The seating was excellent in the Arena - not a bad view in the house! The parking was plentiful, close to the Arena and easy access to exits for the trip home.
