Atlanta Gladiators at Infinite Energy Arena

Duluth, Georgia, is home to the Atlanta metro area's professional hockey team. The Atlanta Gladiators are in the South Division of the ECHL's Eastern Conference, where they face stiff competition from the likes of the Florida Everblades, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, the Jacksonville Icemen, the Norfolk Admirals, the Orlando Solar Bears and the South Carolina Stingrays. The Gladiators play out of the Infinite Energy Arena, which opened in 2003 and currently seats 13,100. Their coach and general manager is Jeff Pyle, who previously had success coaching the Gladiators from 2003 to 2011.

Atlanta Gladiators History

The Atlanta Gladiators continue a long tradition of hockey excellence in the metro Atlanta area. Two National Hockey League franchises have played in downtown Atlanta: the Flames (who played at the Omni from 1972 to 1980 before moving to Calgary), and the Thrashers (who played at what is now known as State Farm Arena from 1999 to 2011 before becoming the Winnipeg Jets). The Atlanta Knights of the International Hockey League lasted only from 1992 to 1996, but in that brief time they won the 1994 Turner Cup, and employed John Paris Jr. as the first black head coach in professional ice hockey, as well as goaltender Manon Rhéaume, the first woman to play a regular season game in men's professional ice hockey.

The Atlanta Gladiators first took to the ice in 1995 as the Mobile Mysticks, where they remained before taking a hiatus for the 2002-03 season and moving to Gwinnett County, Ga., the following year. The Gladiators have a shared history with the Atlanta Thrashers, as the Thrashers' ECHL affiliate off and on from 2003 to 2011, when they were known as the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Gladiators rebranded in 2015 as the Atlanta Gladiators, and became affiliated with the NHL's Boston Bruins and the AHL's Providence Bruins, a partnership which continues to this day.

    Waylon’s first game

    by Joe S & Waylon D on 2/6/24Gas South Arena - Duluth

Waylon is my grandson, he is 9 years old. He is very much into all kinds of sports…football, basketball, soccer and more! He loved the experience at the Gladiators vs. Stingrays ice hockey game last Saturday night. It was fun for both of us, but for me is was priceless to watch Waylon enjoy himself at a game he has never seen in person before…thanks for the experience!

Exciting game, but they ended up losing

by Gdave65 on 1/6/24Gas South Arena - Duluth

The process of getting tickets and getting into the venue was easy, although it's rather expensive for the experience.

    Great night out!

by Hockey Fam on 1/2/24Gas South Arena - Duluth

Hockey is not an original Southern sport but I married a hockey fan in '91 from Indiana (Blackhawks) and I am a fan now too. We loved the Thrashers and love the Glads now! Our 17 year old daughter became a hockey fan too and it is nice to spend time with her at the game! Wish more people would come to the games - they would have so much fun!

    Atlanta Gladiators game 12.30.23

by Briar on 1/2/24Gas South Arena - Duluth

Good crowd for Ice Hockey at the Gas South Arena for the Atlanta Gladiators game. Always great to see Ice Hockey live. Troubling that the Gladiators were struggling to show much of any offense, everything was put on our goalie and he did a great job. Although the Gladiators lost 5-2, if your know the game and how many shots on goal were taken this could have been much worse. The Ghost Pirates are only in their second season and looked pretty good, if the Glads would have just taken more shots their goalie was not that good.

    Glad superfans in folding chairs

by Todd on 12/26/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

Paid over 120 bucks for 2 tickets in row 100 seats 9 and 10 only to find they put 8 superfans in folding chairs right in front of you. The folding chairs sit higher then that actual seat so possible to see around the superfans

    A Great Time!

by Goose on 12/19/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

I love checking out minor league hockey games whenever I travel, and this one was a blast. The Gladiators were fun to watch, the venue was pretty nice, the fans had a lot of energy, and this happened to be a teddy bear toss night, which was awesome to be a part of! I have no plans to return to the Atlanta area in the foreseeable future, but if I do, I would definitely go to another Glads game.

The team seemed down and out this game

by ArizonaBada5597 on 12/7/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

Normally, I would give it five stars because I love the experience and excitement of a gladiators game. It's the next best thing to the extinct thrashers. However, the gladiators just had an off game. They seemed like they were somewhere else. They kept getting the puck stolen from them on offense. The solar bears had a much more aggressive defense and even seem to be more coordinated on offense. I would blame this on the fact that they are very down in the dumps, with a crushed morale. The night before, the gladiators lost in a real close one against the ghost pirates. It would have gone into overtime if the ref had not have denied one goal. Maybe I'm being a little too critical, but I really want to see my team try harder.

Much like the old days of the Thrashers

by ArizonaBada5597 on 12/7/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

I miss the thrashers. I used to love going to their games back in the 2000s. I know it's not exactly like it, but in so many ways you have the feel of being at a thrashers game. I love the enthusiasm and excitement from the announcer. The goal horn sounds similar. I love the chants from the audience. The game is very exciting and can get rough at times. I wish the time on the scoreboard wouldn't run out so fast. The price seems reasonable, considering that you're close to the glass. I don't like how I have to pay $10 to park, but at least it's easy to access and located very convenient the the entrance.

    Great entertainment

by Andy on 11/16/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

My daughter and I had a great time at the Gladiator’s game. We always try to attend a game when she’s in town. We had great seats and a great view of the entire game. Any closer we would’ve had to put our skates on and join in. Food and drink were good and priced reasonably. I would highly recommend attending a game or two if you ever have aWe always try to attend a game when she’s in town. We had great seats and a great view of the entire game. Expensive evening for terrible seats

by Jmomruns on 11/7/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

We love hockey and have been going to games a few times every season since the Gladiators arrived in Gwinnett. Prices have soared, and for a Wednesday evening in a mostly empty arena it makes no sense to charge premium prices when over 50% of the seats are empty. It was a good game, but our seats were meh. Food ok but pricey. I know - Covid, inflation, whatever. We also have to watch our pennies. So next time I choose to drop over $300 on a family outing it will be a better experience and for sure not a hockey game

    Too expensive, across the board.

by Glads Fan on 11/6/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

I love hockey, plain and simple. Coming to a Glads game use to be fun and (more importantly) affordable! Now, it’s just as expensive (if not more expensive) than going to an NHL game. Truly ridiculous, especially for ECHL. And they wonder why there are only a couple hundred fans at the games. Bring down pricing and more people will come!

Biggest bang for the buck in Atlanta sports!

by Chris on 11/6/23Gas South Arena - Duluth

We try to catch a couple games a year due to the location (everywhere in Atlanta is an hour away from anywhere in Atlanta). That being said, the experience never disappoints. Highly recommend attending a game if you haven’t.

    Gladiators shut out Cyclones!

by SteamrollerFanette on 4/23/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

Great game by the Gladiators! Shut out Cincinnati 3-0, scoring two Power Play goals. Wish they could retain home ice advantage. Hope the Arena ownership reconsiders their decision. Very happy the Gladiators are in Gwinnett and hope they stay with us for many years to come.

These guys are great - offer support.

by dennislee on 4/21/13The Arena At Gwinnett Center - Duluth

We played to win but came up short. We have the talent but need to adjust to a different strategy. These guys are not the pushovers from the quarterfinals - they want to win as well. Your support will help...........Enjoy the Game, we do.
