About

For English metalcore act Asking Alexandria, years of extensive touring paid off in 2013 when their third album From Death to Destiny debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200. Tapped by Korn as a supporting act on their 2013 tour, Asking Alexandria quickly earned a reputation for their amped up live show, resulting in a series of headlining concerts with Sevendust, All That Remains, and others. The band's touring success in 2013 continued an already-successful run on the road – in 2012, fans clamored for tickets for their sold-out club dates in North America and the U.K., which drew praise for their mosh pit-inducing energy. Asking Alexandria's roots go back to 2003, when guitarist Ben Bruce helmed the group's first incarnation in Dubai. In 2008, Bruce returned home to England and formed an entirely new group, while retaining the Asking Alexandria name. After signing with indie label Sumerian, the band released its debut album Stand Up and Scream in 2009, and followed it up in 2011 with Reckless & Relentless, which peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Asking Alexandria's current lineup includes Bruce, vocalist Danny Worsnop, guitarist Cameron Liddell, bassist Sam Bettley, and drummer James Casells.

This was my first metalcore concert and I was not disappointed. In fact it was better than I thought it would be. You know a concert was great when you get to the venue with your side fringe straightened and your eyeliner looking flawless, and by the end of the first opening band you look like trash. What I liked about each band: Be(lie)fs- metalcore band with a female vocalist. I'm an aspiring rock frontwoman so it's very inspiring for me to see female fronted bands. As Animals Eat my Insides- incredible energy, and the fake blood was a nice touch. While She Sleeps- Loved these guys since I saw them at Warped Tour. Frontman crowd surfed over the entire audience, that was pretty cool. Asking Alexandria- Denis Stoff is an amazing addition to this band. His live vocals are amazing. Went into the mosh pit during their set, got pretty roughed up. It was great.

  • asking alexandria was awesome

    by Kelsie225417 on 2/29/16Masquerade - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

I had an amazing time at the concert. I've seen asking alexandria 5 times now, this being the first to go out of state for a concert. All the bands were amazing, and the venue was great. Awesome staff, great bartenders and the food was really good. No complaints at all. My favorite venue so far, and my favorite asking alexandria experience hand down (also had vip experience again, so that helped too.

    by jstar41 on 12/22/14The Norva - NorfolkRating: 4 out of 5

The opening band was actually my favorite act of the night. The Family Ruin ROCKED the house! All of the bands were excellent though.

  • show with hopes

Went to this show expecting to see asking alexandria at Thier prime. All of the opeopener bands were amazing, then they came on. I was expectino to hear a good metal band but in reality it sounded like jack black was on stage singing opera, which was a let down. For such a great band they should play more like the albums instead of changing everything the songs sound like.

  • Asking Alexandria was beyond awesome

    by Cterry44 on 12/20/14Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first screamo concert! Let me tell you it was awesome! There was no way that I thought it would be that much fun but it was awesome and my boyfriend had been trying to see asking Alexandria for several years now and he absolutely loved the concert!!!

  • AA was bad

    by pickles98 on 12/17/14Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 3 out of 5

Asking Alexandria was drunk and their live show would have been really bad if not for the light show. Danny could barely walk and even dropped his mic stand once. They also had to turn his mic down significantly. The show was saved by Blessthefall and Upon a Burning body though. They were great and really knew how to work the crowd! Will definitely be going to see them again.

I really enjoyed the show, though enjoying it I also have some dislikes! One is that the line up was disorganized by talent (opinion)! A proper order would of been... The Family Ruin, Asking Alexandra, Bless the fall, Upon A Burning Body, and then of coarse Chelsea grin! Opinions on bands would follow as The Family Ruin "sucks" (cannot support, wished I was late), Asking Alexandria can sound awesome and awful in every song throughout (though they do have potential to be awesome), Bless The Fall I do enjoy but think they suck live, Upon a burning body is just simply bad ass both live (maybe better) and studio, and was completely blown away by Chelsea Grin live there sound both instrumentally and vocally is much better than what there record company produces them too sound like! I was amazed by this for I have never thought that vocals could sound better live, there sound is much cleaner revealing all there talent for what its worth! One thing must be mentioned here as well, Columbus if you want good bands like this to keep coming back, give them a show back from the audience, when they want a pit, give it too them, when they want crowd surfing, just do it! I have to say from what I seen the crowd was a little stagnant for bands of this talent performing for you! Stop watching the show through your phones video recorder, its lame, and ruins views for others, its not like your ever going to really watch them! It's sure not like the good old days anyways! Though for those who are reading this and did not go there was these things present, just not at a level to make them remember for Columbus a must stop on the next round through the region! All in all if you didn't go, you missed out!

  • asking alexandria were very disappointing

by Anonymous on 12/17/14Newport Music Hall - ColumbusRating: 2 out of 5

Danny Worsnop came out pretty drunk. He was off pitch and didn't seem to care about putting on a good show. Highly disappointed. Seen the b4 and they were awesome but not this time. Drove 3 hours to see them. What a let down.

Show was amazing, great bands, but most of all Asking Alexandria killed it once again as they always do.

UABB had a great set list. First time seeing these guys. Amazing. Played the first and second singles from the last two albums, along with other fan favorites. Miss May I easily had the best set list. Playing an off date from Mayhem gave them an opportunity to play some older stuff. Lots of songs from Monument and At Heart! Which is what WE the FANS want to hear. Don't get me wrong the newer albums are good, but remembering what got you to that stage in first place is very important. They had a great balance of new songs and MMI classics. Asking Alexandria had a great performance, but I was not satisfied by the set list. So many songs they could have played from Stand Up and Scream. I understand they need to push their new stuff. I was completely shocked to hear Danny's voice. The guy can sing...just not for AA(keep the acoustic on the bus). I feel like we went to a Slipknot show and Stone Sour showed up...
