  • Amazing

by Linda on 1/3/22Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

What amazing musical talent! A symphony orchestra that can switch up the genre to soul and then take it to the bridge! I had the best time! I am now a fan of this symphony and will definitely be back for any upcoming performances. And the safety protocols were spot on! Thank you for this wonderful way to welcome a new year!

  • Great Musicians

    by H. O. on 11/23/21Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The venue has this old feeling not quite par with any great event. It definitely can use renovations asap. As for the legroom space, for anyone over 5'9'', the experience is very uncomfortable because the legs can barely fit in. That said, the quality of the musicians was great and the program was well selected and the reason for only 4 stars has nothing to do with them.

  • Concessions need big improvement

by Bug in NC on 1/8/20Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The show with the symphony was great. The show was interactive and the music was great. The concessions were a different story. This was New Years Eve and there was only one concession area that was extremely slow. We have been to concerts here before and they have had 3 times more stands open. Many people left the line because it was so slow. We ended up not getting a drink because intermission was over.

  • The Beatle Extravaganza was most amazing!

by Tercet on 1/3/20U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The combination of the expert symphony with the skilled “Beatles” made for an excellent rendition of Beatle music. My mind did not wander once as the performance was so captivating. Please have another New Years Sgt. Pepper evening!

  • Asheville Symphony Beatles tribute

by LJ on 1/3/20U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was outstanding and a wonderful respite from the turbulent politics currently in the USA. The Beatles group was very authentic and entertaining. The audience was very dignified and appreciative. When the final song was played the audience held their smart phones up and mimicked stars in the sky, A beautiful way to start 2020.

  • Super Fun New Years Eve Concert

    by J. S. on 1/3/20U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was a surprise to all of us. We expected to hear the Asheville Symphony play all Beatle music, which they did but with a twist. The symphony actually accompanied the Beatle tribute band, Classical Mystery Tour. It was wonderful! The tribute band is very good with excellent costumes to add to the illusion. Our group of 4 enjoyed the concert very much. We were right there with all the Hey Jude cell phone "lighters." Of course the Asheville Symphony was wonderful as always. I want to attend every concert with the Asheville Symphony playing "back-up." An A+ evening for us and I think for the entire auditorium.

  • Concert meets symphony

by Runnergirl on 1/3/20U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Truly amazing performances by both the "Beatles" and the Asheville Symphony. It could not have been more perfect or fun. What a great way to bring non-symphony goers into the Symphony fold with a concert layered on top of the Symphony.

  • Very Impressed!

by Lane Maness on 9/24/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The music performed by the Asheville Symphony Orchestra was beautifully flawless. My daughter and I were very impressed with the selections. We were there for "Exotico!", and Blake Pouliot was fantastic! We were in a room full of great people all enjoying wonderful music. I couldn't have asked for a better evening.

by rlb on 1/3/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

As for the Thomas Wolfe theater... they need more bathroom stalls for ladies, ceiling needs fresh paint and foam in seat cushions have definitely seen better days.

  • Cirque Musica was great

by Myr on 1/3/19U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I am a fan of the Cirque shows, so I was excited to attend this event. It did not disappoint. The handful of performers did such an amazing job. It's certainly different being right close to the stage watching this as opposed to TV or a live show, where I haven't been close at all. It made me more nervous for them, as you could feel the energy. I hope this returns, as I loved it. I will say the Asheville Symphony Orchestra was amazing!! The first chair played the violin like I've never heard before! She was excellent! I recommend this show for sure!

  • Asheville Symphony rocks!

We thoroughly enjoyed the evening as Asheville welcomed our new conductor Darko. What a blessing to have such a wonderful orchestra and event here in WNC. Go enjoy and support

  • The Orchestra was terrific, not so the acoustics

by MuseinAVL on 4/17/18U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 2 out of 5

I love hearing live orchestral music. The selections in the first half were interesting but I could not find a melody within them. A young boy who mentioned he was learning to be a drummer loved the first piece with its rhythmic nature. The Sibelius Symphony in the second half delivered the melodies. Is there a sweet spot in the hall where all the music on stage can be clearly heard? I was a professional musician so I am hunting for that. I can see that the Asheville Orchestra is playing very well, with nuance and gusto and would like to hear everyone. . When the orchestra played simultaneously with the fine piano soloist, with the grand piano's lid fully opened, her playing could not be heard from where I sat up in I E section upstairs. My friend was in row G, very close in and heard her very well.

the composer was energetic, the program diverse and exciting, and the crowd was thoroughly energized, and the musicians, as always were inspiring. The Asheville symphony never fails to deliver!

  • Diminished forces pull off thrilling success

by emalenamaluna on 1/12/18U.S. Cellular Center Asheville - AshevilleRating: 4 out of 5

The New Year's Eve farewell concert was a thrilling performance in spite of icy conditions decimating the orchestra and chorus. Outstanding soloists and conductor inspired the chorus and orchestra members who gave it their all and performed magnificently in spite of only 4 of the 16 tenors and 3 of the 8 percussionists being able to get to the concert. It will live in my memory as one of the most welcoming and engrossing performances I have ever attended.
