THE BUCKINGHAMS IN CONCERT:

The sweet sounds of the '60s are alive and well with sunshine pop veterans The Buckinghams.  It's been half a century since the band first rose to fame with upbeat favorites like "Kind of a Drag", and today they transport fans back to pop's golden age whenever they perform. Classic hits like "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" sound as good as ever, and the group's signature lush harmonies and resplendent orchestration have stood the test of time. With their classic showmanship and catalog of nostalgic pop hits, The Buckinghams make fans fall "Back In Love Again" every time they take the stage.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Buckinghams formed in Chicago in the mid-'60s at the height of the British Invasion then sweeping the nation.  They achieved regional success with early singles like "I'll Go Crazy", and in 1966 things really took off when they shot to national fame with No. 1 smash "Kind of a Drag". They followed up with a string of Top 20 hits that included "Susan" and "Don't You Care", and in 1967 Billboard named them "The Most Listened-To Band in America". Despite their popularity the band was unable to maintain their early chart success, and in 1970 they called it quits. But not all was lostóin 1980 a Chicago radio station invited the group to perform a reunion show, and they've been back at it ever since with a lineup that includes original members Nick Fortuna and Carl Giammarese. In addition to touring regularly with bands like The Turtles and The Grass Roots, the band made a triumphant return to the studio in the '00s with popular albums like Live and Well (2006) and The Joy of Christmas (2008). They immortalized their legendary live shows in 2010 with the live album Up Close: The Buckinghams in Concert, and they continue to carry the torch for sunny '60s pop every time they perform.

    Oh What a Night

by dAVED on 2/21/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

It was truly one of the best concerts I've been to in Florida. The intimate surroundings made for a feeling that we were part of the vibs so expertly played on stage. I enjoyed every moment of the Buckinghams and Box Tops. The personal stories from times long past were great. It actually looked like the performers were still in their 20s climbing the musical ladder to fame. Loved it ... staff was awesome, as always. I'm sure the bands were not happy with the smaller crowd, but I'm sure I speak for each member of that crowd: WE LOVED IT!!!

    Great Show

I loved the intimacy of the venue. The best part was the interaction both bands had with the audience. The music was awesome!

    Disappointing concert experience

by Lisa on 2/20/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

They played with the Box Tops who came on first and were very good and entertaining. The Buckinghams came on...and I had been under the impression it was a different member that would appear. Would have preferred they sang the songs and perhaps told a bit about them without the constant corny jokes that were not funny, just annoying. First concert I have every left early from, couldn't wait to leave.

Box Tops and the Buckinghams were awesome!!!

by Al N on 2/20/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

Both groups were awesome. Both sounded great and had great stories to share about their musical adventures. The sound is also really good the The Parker. Unfortunately the show was poorly advertised and the hall was half empty. Both groups took the attendance in stride and those who were there enjoyed excellent and intimate performances.

Great synergy, great tidbits, outstanding set list, I highly recommend this show. It is a most enjoyable to be back in the late sixties.

    Great Memories

by Grinch on 2/20/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

A wonderful evening of solid music from our youth. Being from West Michigan, we grew up with WLS and WCFL, listening to the Buckinghams, Box Tops, and other great bands. So nice to hear stories of other great musicians who were all part of the music in Chicago and Memphis. The horn section always completes the sound. Thank you!

So-so -- needed more groups -- not enough hits

by LC on 2/20/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

Buckinghams -- No Dennis Tufano -- very disappointing as he is their lead singer and this is the first time we've seen the Buckinghams without him. Box Tops -- Not really their fault, but other than Cry Like a Baby (first song) and The Letter (last song), there was nothing of interest. I'd rather they fill in between with mainstream covers of other group's hits.

    Great performance by the Buckinghams

by Jeff H on 2/20/23Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

It is wonderful to see a terrific band from the 60s with the ORIGINAL MEMBERS!! So many groups nowadays are nothing more than tribute bands. Carl and Nick sounded terrific, were very energetic and I was fortunate to meet them backstage for a photo. Hope they never retire. Class act and class guys!

    Great songs

by Birdie on 10/31/22The Maryland Theatre - Hagerstown

I was so impressed with the Buckinghams. Not only did they sing their hits but included other artists, all being my favorites, from their era. What an extra bonus that was! I felt bad the concert wasn't sold out. If more people were aware of the number of great songs they play it would be helpful for their ticket sales. I want to see them tour as long as they can. Just wish I'd videoed!!!!
