About

THE BUCKINGHAMS IN CONCERT:

The sweet sounds of the '60s are alive and well with sunshine pop veterans The Buckinghams.  It's been half a century since the band first rose to fame with upbeat favorites like "Kind of a Drag", and today they transport fans back to pop's golden age whenever they perform. Classic hits like "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" sound as good as ever, and the group's signature lush harmonies and resplendent orchestration have stood the test of time. With their classic showmanship and catalog of nostalgic pop hits, The Buckinghams make fans fall "Back In Love Again" every time they take the stage.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Buckinghams formed in Chicago in the mid-'60s at the height of the British Invasion then sweeping the nation.  They achieved regional success with early singles like "I'll Go Crazy", and in 1966 things really took off when they shot to national fame with No. 1 smash "Kind of a Drag". They followed up with a string of Top 20 hits that included "Susan" and "Don't You Care", and in 1967 Billboard named them "The Most Listened-To Band in America". Despite their popularity the band was unable to maintain their early chart success, and in 1970 they called it quits. But not all was lostóin 1980 a Chicago radio station invited the group to perform a reunion show, and they've been back at it ever since with a lineup that includes original members Nick Fortuna and Carl Giammarese. In addition to touring regularly with bands like The Turtles and The Grass Roots, the band made a triumphant return to the studio in the '00s with popular albums like Live and Well (2006) and The Joy of Christmas (2008). They immortalized their legendary live shows in 2010 with the live album Up Close: The Buckinghams in Concert, and they continue to carry the torch for sunny '60s pop every time they perform.

    Outstanding Concert

by Lish77 on 6/8/18The Showroom at the Golden Nugget - Las Vegas

My husband and I attended the concert at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, and all I can say is that the concert was exciting, brought back so many memories and nostalgic. They kept our attention the whole time, and we were never bored. They still look great and sound fantastic!! If they are touring in your area, I would definitely recommend for you to go see their show. You will definitely not be disappointed.

Great show except the first artist (with blonde, curly hair) seemed to be drunk...

    A trip back in time

by Pirateat60 on 11/21/17Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rockford

Great show. Every performer played their hits. Alliotto's sang Lake Shore Drive as an added bonus. All performers did one final song together. Would have enjoyed more.

These guys put on a really good show. It was so nice to be taken back to the 60s and the Coronado is a great place for a concert of this sort.

    Memory Lane was Rockin'

by RWBlue on 11/21/17Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rockford

Cornerstones of Rock was well-worth the ticket! I could name the groups that rocked us through our teen years, but the list would go on and on. Each sounded today just like they did when I listened to them on WLS out of Chicago. If the Buckinghams and Ides of March rocked your world then, they will do it again today!

    Cornerstones of Rock

by PatDeb on 11/21/17Coronado Performing Arts Center - Rockford

My wife and I really enjoyed this concert. We were dating in 1967 when all these groups were popular. We are from the Chicago area and saw these groups in their prime. They all still sound fantastic! It brought back a lot of good memories. We are really happy that we had the opportunity to see them once again.

Ides of March, Cryan Shames, New Colony Six, Jimy Sohns (Shadows of Knight), Buckinghams. Five great bands. They remain the best of an era. Talented musicians who still got it!

    Great blast from the past!

by Dianejclark on 3/3/17Anderson Theatre - Marietta

I grew up in Chicago when the Buckinghams were starting out and considered a Chicago garage style band! You might have to be from Chicago to understand. I was amazed at the amount of energy still shown by founders Carl and Nick and how their passion for music and entertainment still shine on! Totally enjoyed spending 90 minutes singing along with them! And as an added bonus, loved that they played others' songs of the 60s. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

    FANtastic!

by upfromhere on 10/12/15Bears Den At Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel - Niagara Falls

It was SO GOOD to hear music from those innocent days, but especially when sung by the Buckinghams! Their music transported the audience back to the 60's. I was lucky enough to have seen them less than 2 months ago in Northfield Ohio, while they were on the Happy Together Tour, but the accessable seats there were not very good. To see them at the Bears Den was phenomenal!! I had been trying for months to get seats, I was finally able to do so. After the concert was over, and their autograph session/pictures with all their fans, they were gracious enough to come over to an open restaurant near by, to pose for a picture with me. It has been a very long and difficult year, they will never know how much that single act of kindness meant to me.
