Meghan Trainor in Concert

Pop songstress Meghan Trainor skyrocketed to fame in 2014 thanks to her smash single "All About That Bass". The dance-friendly ode to self-confidence boasts sugary doo-wop vocals and positive declarations like "every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top". In concert Trainor continues that upbeat sentiment with feel-good, dance-worthy pop anthems, winning over crowds with her killer voice, confident stage presence, and cheeky sense of humor. Whether she's strumming the ukulele on sassy tell-offs like "Title" or busting a move to bubblegum jams like "Lips Are Movin'", Trainor makes sure ticket buyers leave her shows with smiles as sweetly infectious as her songs.

Born and raised on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts, Meghan Trainor fell in love with music as a young girl and wrote her first song at age 11. In high school she took up the guitar, ukulele, trumpet, and keyboards, but it was her songwriting that became her ticket to fame. In 2009 and 2010 she attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music's Performance Program and reached the finals of its songwriting competition. She was subsequently offered a full scholarship to the school, but turned it down and began attending songwriting expos across the country. By the time she was 18 she had self-released three albums and landed a publishing deal with Big Yellow Dog Music, which placed her songs with well-known artists including Rascal Flatts, Hunter Hayes, and Sabrina Carpenter. In 2014 she and producer Kevin Kadish penned the body-positive anthem "All About That Bass", which landed her a record deal with Epic Records. The single became one of the biggest hits of the year, reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and topping charts in several countries around the world. Trainor finished 2014 on a high note by releasing the EP Title and announcing the That Bass Tour, her first-ever headlining tour.

    Something Not Right

by jmniii on 10/16/18Chicago Theatre - Chicago

My girlfriend and I took her 7 year old grand daughter to see Meghan Trainor which was her first concert. She enjoyed the whole atmosphere and knew some songs from the opening acts. She loved Meghan's performance and had a great time. A few things about the concert seemed odd to me. The tour dates included an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel and the Chicago Theatre, that was it. There were 3 opening acts, and each played for a while, maybe a 1/2 hour each. When Meghan came out she said "this will be the best 45 minutes of your life". Forty-five minutes, really??? So she did her 45 minutes and after the last song, left the stage, the house lights came on, no encore! Not to mention no merchandise booths/tables to be found. The grand daughter didn't know any different but I thought the whole thing seemed really weird.

    Disappointed

by NorthwestSuburbs on 9/20/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

I love Meghan Trainor but was really disappointed that after enduring 2 hours of 3 nobody’s who each have 1 song on the radio she came out and only played for 45 minutes. The show ended abruptly and there was no encore. I spent more than double that amount of time getting to and from the venue. Saw her at the Rosemont Theatre 2 years ago and that show was amazing leaving me thirsty for more. Can’t say the same after this show. Also, the theatre made no accommodations for the audience being mostly female. The lines for the bathroom were ridiculous. In Rosemont they made one of the men’s rooms a ladies room for the night. Really helped cut down the potty line. Definitely won’t go to her next show if this is the venue she chooses. This was definitely a radio promo event. Not a concert.

    Meghan Trainor

by MrsMWS on 9/19/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

If you were hoping for a Megan Trainor concert, you would be disappointed. There were THREE opening acts. With long intermissions between each one. She didn't even get on stage until 9:45 and only played until 10:30. It was my daughters first concert and it was disappointing. They didn't even have merchandise to sell! I at least wanted a shirt to commemorate her first concert. Very disappointing.

    Not worth the money

by Rocky231 on 9/18/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Chicago Theater is a great old venue. No problems there at all. This show, though... there were three acts before Meghan Trainor came out. All OK, not great. We had been in our seats for 2.5 hours when she finally came out. She said it would be a 45 minute show, and that is what it was. I was really surprised by how many children were in the audience, too. I enjoy her music, but this concert felt like open mike night for the first 2.5 hours and a Disney show for the last 45 minutes. Not worth the money.

    Unbalanced mix of artists

by Daveants on 9/18/18The Chicago Theatre - Chicago

Not sure how to address this but the fans who were here to see MT didn’t seem interested in the opening artists and were in fact DISRESPECTFUL to the artists who were putting it all out there to perform acoustically. I realize many of them were young kids with short attention spans but they were talking so loudly during the opening performances that it was distracting and made for a subpar experience for those of us wgo Were trying to listen to these Amazing artists.
