New Kids on the Block in Concert
For three-plus decades, Danny Wood, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight, and Jordan Knight have been the total package — they sing, they dance, and they electrify arenas in tandem as New Kids on the Block. Formed in 1984 by Boston-based impresario Maurice Starr (who'd also created New Edition), the quintet became the premier boy band of the late '80s and early '90s, sending crowds into frenzies with hits like the sweetly besotted "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" and the longing "Please Don't Go Girl."
NKOTB had a bunch of hits, scoring two chart-topping albums and racking up three No. 1 singles: the doo-wop callback "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," the statement of purpose "Hangin' Tough," and the fast-paced "Step By Step." But as they've grown from boy-band members into grown-men pop stars, they've kept up with current trends; their 2008 version of "Single" by soul smoothie Ne-Yo multiplied that hip-hop ballad's love-in-this-club mood by five, while the 2013 banger "Remix (I Like The)" kept the energy high as it told the story of a high school outcast's post-grad glow-up.
That song is an extension of the lifelong connection NKOTB have had with their fans, who continue to fill venues ranging from cruise ships to hometown temple Fenway Park while reveling in their 21st-century live performances. Seeing NKOTB in concert is as intense as it was during their heyday; while the kids have grown up and their voices have changed slightly, their in-sync dancing remains exuberant and precise, Jordan Knight's falsetto can still send audiences into a frenzy on "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," and all five members maintain the charm and dancing ability that made them '80s teen idols — and kept them hanging tough in the 2010s, when they're recognized as true pop icons.
NKOTB always puts on an extraordinary concert! I can not wait until the next one.
I have seen these guys multiple times and it’s freakin awesome every single time! They love their fans and you can tell! It’s energetic, fun, funny, and high energy! There are a few cuss words but you can still take the kids :)
It was easy and amazing getting in if you had everything in order! Everybody in Durant Oklahoma goes above and beyond! The whole experience with my cousin and my daughter was one I will never forget :-) great fun great family great friends and a damn good show!
Always a great time seeing the band. I’ve been going to their concerts for 35 years and it never gets old!
The venue was great, sound was great and NKOTB were so fun!
The first-ever BlockCon was filled with New Kids on the Block encounters, a fantastic non-stop concert experience, belly laughs at the panels, a fun dance party and an entertaining ball game. The guys and their team worked hard to give fans an immersive experience and they didn't disappoint. From the never-ending concert with deep cuts - the memoriablia straight from Donnie's storage unit, it was all New Kids all the time. Were there some hiccups? Sure. The merch ran out the first day - but the team worked hard to restock by Saturday morning. Should there have been more food options at the venue? Maybe, but there's plenty withing walking distance. Should there have been a little more order as the guys interacted with fans? Absolutely. BUT - this was their first one! There's always room for improvement. The venue was fantastic - as it allowed for a very inimate experience - something every Blockhead wants and needs!
New Kids on the Block delivered an electrifying performance that took fans on a nostalgic journey filled with their classic hits. The energy on stage was contagious, and the group's chemistry was palpable, showcasing their enduring camaraderie. The crowd danced and sang along, creating an atmosphere of pure joy. NKOTB proved that their music still resonates, uniting generations in an unforgettable night of music and memories.
The concert was great. I saw them in the Mixtape Tour in Honolulu, Hawaii, both concerts were great and so much fun. You can feel the love NKOTB provides to their fans. The fans went absolutely crazy and provided love in return as well.
Need to come to Savannah Georgia and have the next mosic Video On Tybee island and I want to be in it i can dance
I loved the Blockcon experience soooo much!! The concert on Friday, the three panels on Saturday and the softball goodbye game on Sunday were all so special and tons of fun!! I will definitely be there for the next Blockcon!!
I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing this was. NKOTB were all present every day of the convention. They showed us so much love and went out of their way to come out into the crowds, take pictures with us, give hugs and overall gave us the best show, panels, and softball game I could have hoped for. I will go back next year and the year after that..
So much fun, so many memories! I loved the concert, the panels, prom, the baseball, the photo ops
I have seen this group live since 1989 and I am still the biggest fan, they put on a wonderful concert and treat their fans as if we were family! We love you NKOTB!
I loved everything about the event. It was well thought out, well put together, entertaining and I feel more like I have a personal relationship with NKOTB, even though we had no actual personal interaction. I hope they do it again and we can get the VIP experience.
The concert was the best ever. And the panels were great and funny especially the last one was so funny.
A great show. More intimate with deep cut performances. Audio and production very good.
It was an amazing experience. It was basically like thei cruise on land. It was so fun.
The experience was fabulous. The location & venues were very nice. Tge exhibits were super cool, but i would have loved more! There could have been more perks for VIPs.
The concert was probably the best one they’ve ever done. The panels were so fun and engaging. The 80s themed prom was a blast. The guys definitely made sure it was a fun weekend!!
OMG this was a 3 day weekend event that was jam packed with events from morning until night. Non stop life changing events that will be forever instilled in my brain....I will forever be grateful for the Boy's in the Band!!!!!
