About

New Kids on the Block in Concert

For three-plus decades, Danny Wood, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight, and Jordan Knight have been the total package — they sing, they dance, and they electrify arenas in tandem as New Kids on the Block. Formed in 1984 by Boston-based impresario Maurice Starr (who'd also created New Edition), the quintet became the premier boy band of the late '80s and early '90s, sending crowds into frenzies with hits like the sweetly besotted "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" and the longing "Please Don't Go Girl."

NKOTB had a bunch of hits, scoring two chart-topping albums and racking up three No. 1 singles: the doo-wop callback "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," the statement of purpose "Hangin' Tough," and the fast-paced "Step By Step." But as they've grown from boy-band members into grown-men pop stars, they've kept up with current trends; their 2008 version of "Single" by soul smoothie Ne-Yo multiplied that hip-hop ballad's love-in-this-club mood by five, while the 2013 banger "Remix (I Like The)" kept the energy high as it told the story of a high school outcast's post-grad glow-up.

That song is an extension of the lifelong connection NKOTB have had with their fans, who continue to fill venues ranging from cruise ships to hometown temple Fenway Park while reveling in their 21st-century live performances. Seeing NKOTB in concert is as intense as it was during their heyday; while the kids have grown up and their voices have changed slightly, their in-sync dancing remains exuberant and precise, Jordan Knight's falsetto can still send audiences into a frenzy on "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," and all five members maintain the charm and dancing ability that made them '80s teen idols — and kept them hanging tough in the 2010s, when they're recognized as true pop icons.

    BlockCon was a blast!

by Cindy on 5/31/23Rosemont Theatre - Rosemont

The concert was absolutely electric!! So high energy and it was wonderful having no other acts for this event. The panels were so well done. Everyone was laughing and crying right along with the guys. It was quite emotional hearing where they were during the recordings. Prom was okay. It was great having the guys there but it was pretty chaotic with the selfie chasing Blockheads trying to get to the guys. The softball game was a fun event too. I loved that they chose fans to be part of the teams. I’m sure they will never forget those moments. The town of Rosemont was a great place for this event.

I loved everything about this weekend with the New Kids. I just didn't like the "food" that was served at the "brunch" on Sunday.

The best event for the fans!

by Jackie P. on 5/31/23Rosemont Theatre - Rosemont

This weekend was everything! We got to hear, not just the hits, but also some of the lesser known classics at the concert. The Saturday panels gave us insight and their thoughts during that iconic rise to fame. Then, the prom gave us all the chance to relive our prom dreams with NKOTB as the prom kings. Sunday’s muah ball game was a nice way to close out the weekend. I hope this becomes a yearly event! I can’t wait for the next one.

    Room for improvement

    by S on 5/31/23Rosemont Theatre - Rosemont

Overall it was an amazing idea but the execution was not. Some was on the organizers and some on the attendees. The parking was not clear but like most events the NKOTB did not show on time but were sure to be done at the appropriate time which was frustrating. As for the attendees there were enough whom need to learn respect and just being a adult and I think it would have made the experience a little better- overall I would give a 7/10 and remember it was the first ever event

    Immersed Epic NKOTB Experience

by Rosee’s mom on 5/31/23Rosemont Theatre - Rosemont

    - Amazing photo ops set up throughout the Rosemont Theater including stage set, photos, artifacts, a confetti machine, wardrobe, and the toy boxes where some captured an phot with their fav NKOTB and much more. -Perfect location walking distance from food, events. Ideal for a no car weekend. -Epic concert for confetti and oldies but goodies. Extremely interactive. -Panels is where #’s were made that will carry on for years to come. We Laughed, cried and watched videos while hearing all the details. There was even a sleeping bag party. - Impact Field was a great location for the game. The game began in the 7th had the national anthem, sweet Caroline, take me out to the ball game, and selfies with Donnie. - #IAmThankful BlockCon2 can’t wait. Prom was OK- loved dressing up and the decor.

    First Blockcon and nailed it!

by Ness on 5/31/23Rosemont Theatre - Rosemont

Of course people will think that I’m biased but trust me, Dutch people are hard to please! This event was amazing for the first time! It was something especially designed for Blockheads and it showed. From the concerts with a lot of deep cuts to serious talks in the different panels. Combined with a great party at night and a kick ass farewell event. And don’t forget the exhibition with all kinds of memorablia and merch and other fun stuff. Sure there are few things that need a bit of improvement but you know how it is, you learn while you go. On to Blockcon 2024!!!

Honestly they were truly genuinely good people. They all were gracious and made you feel special. If you’re not a fan, you should be. They put on an amazing show, made you laugh, cry and feel like you mattered.

    BlockCon was EVERYTHING!

by Boujee Blockhead on 5/31/23Rosemont Theatre - Rosemont

I danced. I sang. I laughed. I cried! This NKOTB convention was truly a great experience. I’ve been a “Blockhead” since 1989, when I was only 10 years old. I’ve been to three concerts (one with VIP/Meet & Greet), the 2022 NKOTB cruise, and now this first fan convention. The convention concert was EPIC! The panels were nostalgic, comedic, informative and very enjoyable. The prom was so special and entertaining! Even the farewell softball game was fun. While I didn’t pursue any interactions or “selfies” with the guys, they were all over the place and interacting with their fans as much as they could. I’m so thankful that I got to be there!

    Fan's Dream

by Dawn S on 5/31/23Rosemont Theatre - Rosemont

This was an amazing weekend for New Kids' fans everywhere! What an awesome idea to create a weekend where fans can get an intimate look at the group. The concert was fantastic! What a great trip down memory lane for life-long fans! The panels were amazing! What laughs we all had together. I feel closer to the group after hearing the stories that they shared with us. The game on Sunday was a lot of fun. I only wish there was more time to get pictures with the boys.
