New Kids on the Block in Concert
For three-plus decades, Danny Wood, Donnie Wahlberg, Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight, and Jordan Knight have been the total package — they sing, they dance, and they electrify arenas in tandem as New Kids on the Block. Formed in 1984 by Boston-based impresario Maurice Starr (who'd also created New Edition), the quintet became the premier boy band of the late '80s and early '90s, sending crowds into frenzies with hits like the sweetly besotted "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" and the longing "Please Don't Go Girl."
NKOTB had a bunch of hits, scoring two chart-topping albums and racking up three No. 1 singles: the doo-wop callback "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," the statement of purpose "Hangin' Tough," and the fast-paced "Step By Step." But as they've grown from boy-band members into grown-men pop stars, they've kept up with current trends; their 2008 version of "Single" by soul smoothie Ne-Yo multiplied that hip-hop ballad's love-in-this-club mood by five, while the 2013 banger "Remix (I Like The)" kept the energy high as it told the story of a high school outcast's post-grad glow-up.
That song is an extension of the lifelong connection NKOTB have had with their fans, who continue to fill venues ranging from cruise ships to hometown temple Fenway Park while reveling in their 21st-century live performances. Seeing NKOTB in concert is as intense as it was during their heyday; while the kids have grown up and their voices have changed slightly, their in-sync dancing remains exuberant and precise, Jordan Knight's falsetto can still send audiences into a frenzy on "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)," and all five members maintain the charm and dancing ability that made them '80s teen idols — and kept them hanging tough in the 2010s, when they're recognized as true pop icons.
This is the third time I've seem them and it just gets better & better!!!!
The concert was fabulous. Well worth the 20 year wait. I'd go again in a heartbeat.
I hadn't seen NKOTB in nearly 20 years (the last time was Feb. 1990) so at first being there among hard core fans was a little weird. I had awesome seats that would have made my 13 year old self envious. As soon as the guys were on stage I was transported to 1990 and completely reminded as to why I ever became a fan. Their show was a mixture of old and new songs complete with old school NKOTB dance moves. My favorite part of the show was when Donnie, Joey and Jordan got into the crowd to sing "Boyfriend". I highly recommend anyone who has never seen them or saw them back in the day like me to go. It's totally worth it!!!
I MAY NEVER BE THE SAME. IT WAS GREAT. THESE BOYS STILL HAVE IT
Amazing show! These guys are NEVER a disappointment...New songs, new set..fantastic!
I took my teenage daughter and her friend to the concert primarily to see opening act Jesse McCartney, who was great. the kids were babies when NKOTB made their debut. Having matured physically and musically, I think the band put on a great show and is better than before. Great dancing, fun music, amazing chemistry with the crowd of predominantly women in their 20s and 30s. You would have thought that we were at a Beatles or Elvis concert with crowd's response to the "Kids" turned "Men." One signficant negative was that the sound was WAY TOO LOUD, and this was an outdoor amphitheatre. I've been going to concerts for 30+ years and have never been blasted like this. My ears are still throbbing today.
NKOTB really rocked it out!!! The show was very energetic!!! The Boys were all over the place from the stage to the crowd!!! They were completely entertaining and I wouldn't have missed it for the world!!! I would defiantly pay to see them again!!!!
This show was great, Any true nkotb fan needs to go. They played a lot of their old stuff and did those dance moves, and played a lot of the new songs too. Its a must see!
This was my first NKOTB concert & I really enjoyed myself. The guys looked great & they sound terrific. I can't wait to see them again! Hopefully soon! I LOVE NKOTB!
This show is well worth the money paid. My friend and I had 3rd row seats and it was awesome! This definitely was a night to remember and brought back alot of old memories. They played alot of their new songs mixed with alot more of the old stuff. These guys put on a GREAT show. I have been to two this year, and if they come back around I am defineity going again!
the concert was just as wonderful as the last time i went 20 years ago. it was the first concert i ever attended. my mom took my friend and i and now 20 years later i got to share the same experience with my daughter. nkotb was her first concert too! thanks NKOTB for all the memories I LOVE YOU JORDAN!!
Great show. They played for alot longer then I thought they would. It reminded me of being a teenager all over again!
