THE LION KING premiered on Broadway in 1997 and has since become the third-longest-running musical on Broadway and the first to hit the $1 billion mark at the box office. The North American tour is an equally grand theatrical achievement, having welcomed over 20 million theatergoers in more than 80 cities. The six-time Tony Award-winning production features direction by Julie Taymor, music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice, and choreography by Garth Fagan. For over two decades, the touring production’s visual tapestry has enchanted audiences across North America and continues to be a “must-see” live event, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

I really enjoyed this show. This is the second time I have been to the DPAC to see this and each time is better. I enjoyed the organization of the staff which made moving through the theater ok, The show was excellent I think may return before it leaves NC
It was an amazing show. The lighting, the costumes, the singing, phenomenal. Took my breath away. I definitely recommend it. Take the kids, they will love it
The performers did a good job for the space that was available. The stage is not very large, to accommodate a performance of a large stage production.
Go, all ages. You will not be disappointed. This the second time from 20 years ago in Raleigh, NC and loved it all over again
Lion King performance was awesome! Never disappoints! Cast was amazing. Music thumbs up! I highly recommend Lion King. P Ward
I’ve consider myself to be the biggest Lion King fan ever! I’ve watched the movies over 100 times, know all the songs and even cried lol..but seeing it on Broadway was AMAZING!!! Planning on going to see it again. 🦁👑❤️
So unique - seeing people protrayed at animals Such a fun play-loved all the songs and the dancing Would love to see it again!
We took our 7-year granddaughter to the production and she loved it. My husband, who doesn't really enjoy plays, also loved it. That says a lot about how good this was. Plays, especially musicals, are my thing and this production ranks at the top of my favorites. I would see it again and again. It was so well done!
If my review was on the show it would be 5 stars, but the Orpheum seating was ridiculous! My husband has had both knees replaced and does very well otherwise. There was no leg room for anyone over 5'5. We noticed a lot of faces showing thir pain as well. It was too bad (it was our first time there) I noticed there were some handicapped seating with regular chairs so anyone with joint problems try for them or don't go. Again, the show was awesome!
