Indiana Pacers History

The Pacers have a long history that goes back to 1967, when they were a member of the American Basketball Association. They dominated that league, making the ABA Finals five times in seven years and winning three championships. They joined the NBA in 1976, when the two leagues merged.

The Pacers initially struggled in the new league, qualifying for the playoffs just twice in the first 13 NBA seasons. But things began to turn around after they selected Reggie Miller with the No. 11 overall pick in the 1987 draft. Miller led the Pacers to the playoffs in his third season, which became a trend. They made the playoffs in 16 out of the next 17 seasons, nearly spanning Miller's entire Hall of Fame career, all of which he spent in Indiana.

The Pacers were not able to win a championship in that span, though they did advance to the NBA Finals in the 1999–2000 season. They lost in the finals in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers. After a rebuilding period through the late aughts, the team advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2013 and 2014 led by All-Star small forward Paul George, though they fell to Miami’s “Big Three” in back-to-back match-ups.

Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse

The Pacers moved into their current arena in 1999, when it was known as Conseco Fieldhouse. It has been called Gainbridge Fieldhouse since 2021 (after previously being called Bankers Life Fieldhouse from 2011 to 2021), and it's one of the few arenas in North America specifically designed to accommodate basketball. The Pacers share the arena with one other professional team, the Indiana Fever of the WNBA.

    Get it together

by ralph on 5/6/24Gainbridge Fieldhouse - Indianapolis

Got seats, but went to the sky deck, as i have done many time this season, to be surprised that the almost empty sky deck was "ticketed."Security guard was friendly, but it seemed like he was enforcing something that was not clearly communicated or even made available (how do you buy tickets to the "standing room only"sky deck???). It seemed like a ridiculous use of the space. Frustrating to go into a series closeout game and have this confusing messaging, less than a week after a completely packed and non-ticketed situation the prior Friday. Also, concessions were slow. I purposely ordered things that were already prepared and under the warmer, but missed a good chunk of the game waiting in a line. Napkins and condiments weren't stocked. Just a horrible system, at least at the specific stand that I visited.

    Awesome!

by Yvonne on 5/5/24Gainbridge Fieldhouse - Indianapolis

The seats are so great and comfortable. We were sitting so close to see the players sweat. I have to do this again sometime soon. I enjoyed my t-shirt too. Great Job, Paces. It was a team effort.

    Bad experience

by Vinay on 5/1/24Gainbridge Fieldhouse - Indianapolis

Spent $1200 for nice tickets only to realize it was in a Standing Room Only section. No where was it mentioned while booking tickets that it was SRO . Enjoyed the game but left feeling short changed

    Great Venue.

by Blackdog on 4/29/24Gainbridge Fieldhouse - Indianapolis

Would have gone to Game 4, if you'd given me the same price as Game 3. If you have 40 seats open, three hours before game time, why not lower them a $150 bucks for the lower seats? Instead of $349, I probably would have paid $199. The Pacers probably left 20 grand off the books as a result.

    Incredible Atmosphere

    by Roni83 on 4/29/24Gainbridge Fieldhouse - Indianapolis

Getting selected for presale tickets was the first of many incredible experiences. Between the great seats, the amazing team and the unbelievable playoff atmosphere, there really is nothing negative to say. I took my wife for a date night, even though she doesn't always love being there and would rather watch it on tv. But this was a win-win for the both of us and WE already can't wait to go again!
