About

Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”

Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.

After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

    Amazing

by Drea on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

I first listened to and saw The Leaving Song Pt II music video on Fuse as an 11 year old. It completely blew my mind, I had never heard or seen anything like that before, I was a pretty sheltered and quiet kid. Little did I know Sing the Sorrow and AFI would become a beacon of light in the hot mess that was my adolescence. Now at 31, I am eternally grateful for this album and AFI's music. I was fortunate enough to make it to the Kia Forum and it was an experience I'll never forget. From the visuals to Davey/Jade/Hunter/Adam's energy on stage, there was nothing more I could have possibly wanted. Also a big thanks to the crowd for singing/ screaming along in unison, it's always an incredible experience to connect with complete strangers that way. A 5 star rating doesn't give justice to how amazing this show was, more like 10 billion stars out of 5.

    AFI is the best!

    by C. K. on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

AFI is amazing live! The Kia Forum sucks though, they charge $45 to park far away from the venue!

    Everything I had hoped for

    by Tux3domike on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

It was everything I had hoped it would be. They played every song on the album in order. Davey was amazing as always. He’s such a great showman that even as far away as we were we still felt it. Oh yeah and 20,000 people singing every word to every song is a magical thing to behold.

    Amazing show, but slightly disappointed

by guz on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

Let me start off by saying, AFI did an amazing job. The album sounded amazing live. I cannot take anything away from them there. The one thing I found disappointing was that they did not play anything else after the album. The crowd waited for an encore, but they never came back out. There was literally an audible sigh by the crowd when the lights came on and we realized nothing more was going to be played. Given that this was the only show they had for this album, they had people flying in from around the world to watch. Fans used their hard earned money to come in and support this band. Jawbreaker played about the same amount of time that AFI did. I just feel that with all that support, and it not being a full on tour for the album, they should have made a larger effort to do right by the fans. Even a couple of extra songs would have had the crowd leaving satisfied. Overall a great show, but I think a larger appreciation for the people who got you to where you are should take place on the future.

    Great Show but Terrible Sound

by Brooke on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

Seeing AFI was great! The organisation oat the venue was very chaotic… and the sound quality was AWFUL. There was many points where you could barely hear any vocals, which was very disappointing given the fact that this was supposed to be a special show.

    by JP3 on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

$500 general admission tickets gives the impression that there will be surprises or rare songs. 13 songs were played. Felt more like a send off... last AFI show for me.

    Phenomenal

by Nidra on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

The venue was veey nice. As famous as The Forum is, I had never been and came in from out of state. The show was absolutely amazing and I'll be reliving it for the next few lifetimes. As a long time fan, I am grateful to have experienced this show in all of its capacity. The lines were ling and after wondering around a bit, I finally go to where I needed to go. Luckily, I had a seat, so I was able to move back and forth a lot more freely. I don't think there's one bad seat in the Forum. The acoustics were amazing and the voew was perfect.

AFI was great - everything else was not

by Ticketmaster is a Scam on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

AFI was great, the openers were fine. The venue didn't figure out their entrance strategy so we waited outside for an hour. Bev prices were insane.

    Great show

Love the album, so enjoyed the show. Band is great live. Was disappointed they didn’t play hits from other albums, including their biggest hit (Miss Murder)

by Patty C. on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

I've been a fan for over 20 years. Having the opportunity to experience the anniversary of this seminal album was truly a dream come true. The AFI fanbase adds so much to an already amazing show. Truly grateful for this concert experience!

    Show of a LIFETIME

    by lns0mnlak on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

This was a show I never thought AFI would put on and it was incredible. The haters are gonna hate, but this was exactly what they said it would be, the Sing the Sorrow album, front to back, no more, no less. This tour was cut short in 2003/2004 and this anniversary tour was a dream come true for REAL fans. Thank you!

amazing show but wish it wasn't at Kia Forum

by josie on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

AFI put on an unforgettable show. Only problem with the day was that Kia Forum and Ticketmaster is the dynamic pricing that over charges, as well as making people jump through hoops and waste a whole day for buying the most expensive tickets (GA). We had to show up at 9am to get 'early GA', it wasnt really explained what that meant so we did it, only for it to not really matter, and for there to be unorganized lines to get in. Staff and AFI was great though.

    Fun Show

    by JB96 on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

This was a once in a lifetime experience. I remember buying this album when it came out. Was stationed overseas and we jammed this nonstop for a long time. Because I was overseas I never got to see AFI on this tour. Glad I could make this special show. That said, merch situation with flippers could have been easily prevented. That was poorly organized. The lack of bags or totes left many fans holding arms full of merch the entire show. Also easily preventable. The venue itself was easy to get to, sound was Ok. Not great sound IMO. And Davey struggled with the screams.. probably why no encore and length between songs. I get it.. you can't scream like that going into your 40's/50's. And I'm sure that's why this was live streamed or recorded. They anticipated vocal difficulty. I'm glad I went, love Sing the Sorrow. Worth the trip in total.

    A wonderful one night experience

by Jeff on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

Anyine who came to this show, came because they've loved AFI. This album, in my opinion, was THE album. Not a single skippable track on it. Spearheaded them into mainstream success. Showcased growth, risk, and roots. They went hard. Real hard. It was a fantastic experience.

    B-Sides?

by thricekid on 3/14/23Kia Forum - Inglewood

Show was amazing!! AFI had so much energy like the times I watched them 20 years ago. It was cool that Davey stopped and check on the person that was not well. Really wished they played some of their Bsides or a few older songs.
