About

Bluesy singer/songwriter Bonnie Raitt has worked long and hard for her multiple Grammy Awards, hit singles and chart-topping records. Since her 1971 eponymous debut, the California-born performer and long-time activist has steadily maintained a music career, albeit with definite peaks and valleys. The red-headed songstress, one of the only women of her time to play guitar using the bottleneck technique, unleashed seven albums in just nine years, though her big commercial break came with her 10th studio set, 1989’s “Nick of Time.” That 11-track collection, produced by Don Was, earned three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

Not only has the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer tackled multiple U.S. tours and international runs, but she’s also a frequent participant in events of social activism, such as Farm Aid and Amnesty International concerts.

Raitt’s 16th full-length album and most recent studio release, “Slipstream,” hit retailers in 2012. Not only did ticket sales for the support tour soar, but Raitt also landed the best-selling blues album of the year and took home the Grammy for Best Americana Album.

Miss Raitt is a national treasure. Her voice was impeccable and her mad instrumental skills are a joy to experience. Band was great. Some of her music brings me to tears and that is a testament to her talent. We saw Bonnie many years ago in upstate NY and were honored to be able to attend her show again. Thanks Bonnie!

I've been listening to Bonnie Raitt's music since 1973. I finally had a chance to see her live in concert and she and her band did not disappoint. It was a totally enjoyable concert with an excellent mix of new and hit songs. Bonnie Raitt's voice is as fabulous as ever and her outlook and philosophy carries through in her music and performance. So very inspiring and entertaining!

    Thoroughly enjoyable!

by gtkyl72 on 4/1/23Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

We were looking forward to seeing and hearing Bonnie Raitt ... I wanted to see how she played slide guitar and we had great seats (row C, 13 & 15). John Cruz opened and he was fantastic although perhaps his act could have run a bit shorter. There was in inadvertent intermission between acts because of problems with the rented Hammond B3 ... I saw sparks fly out of the organ when the technician was trying to fix it. After 10+ minutes, they gave up and a little reprogramming of the electronic keyboard and we were treated to a pretty fair approximation of a B3. The audio mix during the first part of the performance was a bit off but it was cleaned up before too long. I could see Bonnie ask for a level change on her guitar amplification as it was too low. However, any issues paled in comparison to the performance by Ms. Raitt. 73 years young; she still has it ... A bravura performance that we all enjoyed immensely. If you weren't there, you missed something special.

    Bonnie Raitt sounds good.

by Anna on 3/31/23Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

I rate John Cruz and his keyboard player as excellent. Bonnie sounded good but lacked energy in my opinion. I used binoculars and she looked tired. I’ve seen some very high energy concerts recently and their energy was electric! Not so much with Bonnie.

    Snooze fest!

by Boya on 3/31/23Neal S Blaisdell Concert Hall - Honolulu

This became the John Cruz/Bonnie Raitt concert and thats not what I came for. The opening act J.C. was a series of mostly slow songs, he sang his hit song about 30 minutes into his set. Got the crowd worked up. Thats where he should have stopped, he wet on to do another 30 minutes of put you to sleep music!! The opening act should get you warmed up and excited, he put me to sleep. Then Bonnie, who I've seen a number of times came on. She did not "rock" the house, but decided to do more blues. Which too is slow. Snooze fest.
