Best Rock Musician on the Planet!

-

Paul McCartney is one of the most prolific singer/songwriters of the 20th-21st centuries. He is charismatic, indefatigable, and a consummate musician on so many diverse instruments! He sang and played for almost three hours nonstop!!! Everyone else in the band got at least a short break. To think he is able to do all this at the age of 76 and still be creating phenomenal new music is truly awe-inspiring. I am so grateful that I was able to be part of the Freshen Up Tour experience in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I'm especially thankful for the Ticketmaster agent (I think his name was Raul) who helped me buy my ticket over the phone when I had trouble online. Standing on the floor in front of seat 5 in row 16 was three of the best hours of my life, worth every penny! Thank you Paul, band members, crew members, Rogers Place staff, and Ticketmaster!!!!!

Drop everything. A legend performs an amazing show

-

First; a pre review announcement; As a Beatles historian and lifelong fan, Sir Paul McCartney is incapable of disappointing his audience. That said, it is imperative to pass along the experience that you will undertake upon attending such a show. A tour that is the planets biggest touring gig. A tour that brings a quarter of the worlds best band to a stage right in from you. A tour that is sold out within minutes of its announcement. A tour that with good, no make that EXCELLENT reasons. It should be mandatory that all venues hosting a Paul McCarney concert comes with mandatory seat belts, because you are in for quite the ride. A Paul McCartney concert is akin to having a drivers licence, in that it is not a right to attend one, but a privilege. For this particular tour, the legend comes to the stage with deafening applause, so richly deserved, and starts off by greeting audience, and launching into a classic called A HARD DAYS NIGHT, taking us all back a few decades, yet sounding as fresh as it was written yesterday, when all of or troubles seemed so far away. Next, we venture into Wings territory, with smash hit HI Hi Hi. From there, it is a feast for the ears, which takes you on a Magical Mystery tour from the early 60’s until today, as Macca incorporates songs form his newest offering called Egypt Station into the mix effortlessly. His band is the best that tours, including his old friend Paul Wix (Wixie) on keyboards, Rusty on guitar and bass (the talent it takes to play bass on the same stage as Macca is enormous), Brian on guitars, along with Abe on drums (an amazing talent with his background vocals) Keep in mind that this particular group of musicians that Paul plays with have played with him longer that the Beatles or Wings combined! The full gamut is in sight here as grandparents, and parents with THEIR children are in attendance, from the line ups to get in, to the merchandise tables, and most importantly to the seats, in which everybody sings in unison, taking every moment in, and remembering songs from years gone by, to singing along with new tunes from the most prolific songwriter the earth has known. Sure, the venue sells you the entire seat, but in reality, you will only need the edge of it. The setlist meanders over decades of hits that include Letting Go, Let ‘em in, and 1985, plus Hey Jude, and of course Maybe I’m Amazed. As you will be withe 39 song set list that will take you on an emotional tour. See the legend. Sing along with the legend. So, experience the best touring band on the planet. You’ll thank me. And you will leave with a hoarse throat, that is well deserved. Paul McCartneys Freshen Up Tour needs nothing of the sort, but trust me, you will leave the venue fully charged. From laughter (his wardrobe change line, is simply that he removes his jacket and announces that that is it for the wardrobe changes for the evening!) to the undeniable sing-along of every hit, to the deafenng cheering. Your voice may be hoarse the next morning, but with good, No … make that GREAT reason. For last night, you witnessed a legend in excellent form. Sir Paul is 76 years of age, and shows no sign of hanging it up anytime soon. See. Him. NOW!

AMAZING CONCERT

-

Absolutely amazing concert. Sound was amazing, everything was amazing! Little annoying having the sound arm swing across by the stage as it obstructed our views a bit but guess that can't be helped.

Paul McCartney, the icon

-

This was the third time I attended a Paul McCartney concert and the third time I found it magical. Going back decades through time. He is the most amazing performer. He truly is an icon. The concerts start on time, Paul goes from one tune to another without breaks. 3 hours later you leave the venue feeling totally satisfied that you got more than your monies worth. He is the most. I think everyone should have a chance to attend his concert.

Biography

Paul McCartney has been anything but idle during his post-Beatle years. In 1971 (within one year after the break-up of the Fab Four), McCartney formed the rock band Wings which would go on to produce numerous hit singles and enjoy strong album and ticket sales during the decade of its existence. Wings' most successful and highly acclaimed album, Band on the Run, stayed at the top of the U.S. Charts for four weeks and went triple platinum. Hit songs for the band include "Live and Let Die," "Band on the Run," "Jet," and "Silly Love Songs." McCartney proved, in the '80s, that his popularity with the public was still as strong as ever by embarking on a highly successful solo tour. Memorable collaborative songs were also produced in the '80s--"Say Say Say" and "The Girl is Mine" with Michael Jackson, and "Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder. In the '90s, he expanded his already impressive musical repertoire by composing two albums of classical works (Standing Stone and Working Classical) recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and, in the same decade, released an album of ambient, techno music under the pseudonym The Firemen. Other notable albums of his solo career are 1982's Tug of War (recorded with famed Beatles producer George Martin), his 1984 soundtrack for the film Give My Regards to Broad Street (which he also directed), and 1989's Flowers in the Dirt, and 1997's Flaming Pie. McCartney was honored with a Knightship in 1997.
