Kansas in Concert
With a legendary career spanning more than four decades, KANSAS has firmly established itself as one of America's iconic classic rock bands. This "garage band" from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner, and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.
Composing a catalogue that includes fifteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show), and two one million-selling gold singles, ‘Carry On Wayward Son' and ‘Dust in the Wind.' KANSAS appeared on the Billboard charts for over 200 weeks throughout the ‘70's and ‘80's and played to sold-out arenas and stadiums throughout North America, Europe and Japan. ‘Carry On Wayward Son' continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and ‘Dust In the Wind' has been played on the radio more than three million times!
2016 marked the release of "The Prelude Implicit," KANSAS's fifteenth studio album. The wide-ranging progressive rock album was released on InsideOut Music, and marked the band's first studio album release in 16 years.
Throughout 2016-2017, the band celebrated both the release of "The Prelude Implicit" and the anniversary of breakout album "Leftoverture" with the highly successful KANSAS: Leftoverture 40th Anniversary Tour. That tour was released in 2017 as a live album, "Leftoverture Live & Beyond."
The band, which is currently comprised of keyboardist Tom Brislin, original drummer Phil Ehart, bassist/vocalist Billy Greer, vocalist/keyboardist Ronnie Platt, violinist/guitarist David Ragsdale, guitarist Zak Rizvi, and original guitarist Richard Williams. KANSAS continues to perform in front of large and enthusiastic audiences around the world.
Along with constant touring, KANSAS continues to remain a fixture of Classic Rock radio. The band has reached a whole new audience through their unmistakable presence on the popular video games Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and through their songs' inclusion in various television shows such as ‘Supernatural,' and ‘South Park,' and with films ‘Old School,' and ‘Anchorman.'

Kansas brought a raw energy that is rare for a band that was on top of their game decades ago. Ronnie Platt saved this band from the scrap heap. He's a dead ringer for the Steve Walsh of the days of old, when Steve was the strongest rock tenor of that day. Rich is still a great guitarist. God bless his tenacity. Love Zak's shred guitar style. Phil's drum tech is an amazingly skilled drummer. Never missed a "beat"Pun intended.
Unexpectedly, the performance was top notch. The band consists of first rate musicians the song selection was great, with the hits, album classics, and some less well known material. I also like that the 80s material was dispensed with early and was kept to a minimum. My only issue is that, at this point, Kansas is basically a tribute band of Kansas, with only Rich Williams left, who played well. But, if I am being honest Zak Rizvi is the one doing most of the heavy lifting, which is understandable considering Williams is in his mid 70s. So, I really did enjoy the show, but I couldn't help feel like I was watching a tribute band.
They were so incredible- had front row seats & they just rocked the house.
The piano guy and violinist are amazing and fun to watch. The two guitarists are good and co founder on guitar can still play but doesn’t interact with other members of the band or audience. He’s going through the motions. The lead singer is like a cheesy wedding singer, bothersome to watch. It was fun and ticket prices weren’t outrageous so glad we went but don’t need to see them again. Palace theater is lovely.
Another great show by an awesome band. Kansas has always stood apart from other progressive bands. The violin is obvious, and their keyboards have always been distinctive. They have seamlessly transitioned between a myriad of musicians over the decades. Having heard and seen many different versions of this band, I have to say that the present lineup cranks. These guys play hard. It's almost like Kansas goes metal. The drummer that is subbing for Phil Ehart is phenomenal. Take advantage of seeing this band if you can.
We went to this concert at my 17-year-old request it was amazing we all had a great time would love to see them back again
Fantastic show great people. Venue was also nice. Bip ticketscare worth it.
One of the best shows I've ever been to! The venue was amazing - great sound and views from every seat. But Kansas - wow! They knocked it out of the park. They still got it. They've been rocking 50 years AND still shredding it on stage like they were teenagers!
Transported my husband and I back to our younger days. Incredible music and continued excellent vocals even though there is only one original band member.
