About

It says all you need to know about Buddy Guy that the music genre that he has come to embody, the Chicago Blues, could never hope to contain him. In the more than 55 years since the Louisiana moved to Chicago and embarked on one of the most influential careers a guitarist could ever hope for (just ask Eric Clapton), Guy is still pushing the envelope of his artistry. But what is remarkable about this Rock N' Roll Hall of Famer is that he isn't sacrificing an iota of his relevancy while doing so. Guy proves it not just in concerts that are as high energy now as they were when he was heralding a rock guitar revolution in the 1960's, but also on the charts. His 2010 musical autobiography-of-sorts Living Proof was the blues legend's highest carting record to date, while his 2013 double disk follow up Rhythm and Blues was #1 on the Blues chart and showed 77-year-old to be every bit the firecracker as guest stars Kid Rock and Arrowsmith. If his last few decades have proven anything, it's that a ticket to a Buddy Guy concert isn't simply a tour through blues history, but an opportunity to see a genre's foremost practitioner still at the top of his game, with as much to say as ever has.

    Almost perfect experience

by The godfather on 5/14/24Toyota Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Show was great except there were two a--holes constantly talking in the row behind me SFU during the show. Since people are inconsiderate, an announcement about talking during the show needs to be made so the stupid remember why they are there

    Fantastic Show

by Larry G on 5/12/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

The Buddy Guy performance exceeded my high expectations! I last saw him perform some time ago (1974). He has aged well in the interim 50 years. His talent and performance at age 87 was even more energetic and amazing than when I saw him when he was 35 years old! If you have a chance to see him on his farewell tour, don’t miss him.

    Buddy the man

by PJH on 5/11/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

Great show, Buddy still shows the energy of a man half his age. Buddy's mix of story telling and high energy guitar had the crowd entertained all night. Buddys fellow musicians were all tight and a guest appearance by his son was a highlight.

    New to music

by The Celtic Guy on 5/11/24Chevalier Theatre - Medford

I’m new to learning music, the guitar to be exact. I bought a single ticket and heard it for the first time and loved it! I’m hooked. My mind and heart just opened up to something new and I’m over 50 years old. I felt like I was in a Time Machine.

    What a night!

by Stevie B on 5/9/24The Wilbur - Boston

Buddy Guy was amazing. At 86 years young, the guy has more energy than I do! Amazing music, was very humble and truthful "That;s why he isn't a politician". Very intimate venue to see a legend.

87 year old Buddy Guy rocks the house

by Al D on 5/9/24The Wilbur - Boston

First was the pleasant surprise that Tom Hambridge was the opener for Buddy then played drums for Buddy’s performance. Buddy’s performance was fantastic! He played a medley of old blues tunes from some of the greats including Muddy, BB, and John Lee. Told some great stories to go along with them that made you wonder about the times he spent with them. Of Course Buddy played his own tunes from his long history and was outstanding! He is such a great talent and I am glad I had the opportunity to see him on his final tour.

A wonderful show from a legend in a great venue

by Erika on 5/9/24The Wilbur - Boston

Very impressed with the venue’s polite and helpful staff, from the doormen and security to the waitstaff. It was a pleasure to sit and immediately be asked if there is anything I need and have it brought to my seat. Sound quality great, seating comfortable, bathrooms clean and spacious. Excellent show which is what I expected with an added bonus of Buddy’s son taking the stage. Found reasonably priced parking around the corner.
