Great musical for anyone. The staging & choreography was brilliant. Noah Weisberg was the perfect Willy Wonka!

The child lead and a few other cast members were terrific. The rest of the show was pretty excessive... and that’s saying a lot for the eccentic Willy Wonka. I was entertained but definitely thought it could be a lot better.

    Very Disappointing

by JustYourAverageGuy44 on 10/9/18Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I had hopes of seeing a visually stunning play with catchy music but came away very disappointed. Charlie and the Chocolate factory was dark, and sometimes disturbing for the young audience. The dismemberment of one of the characters by Black Squirrels, because she was a "bad nut", drew silence and a slight gasp from the audience. The final scene as Willie Wonka gives Charlie the chocolate factory had no emotion or excitement what so ever. The cast is talented, but the play suffers from a terrible script.

    Charlie and the Chicolate Factory

by MichaelS44 on 10/8/18Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

This was an amazing show with a very strong cast. I went with my wife and we both enjoyed it and there were also a ton of children in the audience. I highly recommend for the whole family!

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory - 10/3 performance

by OACM on 10/6/18Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

Noah was convincing and energetic, it's tough to follow Gene Wilder or Johnny Depp. The play flowed nicely that I did not realize time had passed. The rest of the cast were wonderful, the dancers were amazing. Truly enjoyed the play, it was nice to see multi-generational families.

I've always been a fan of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the stage version exceeded my expectations. The special effects were outstanding and every actor on stage did an amazing performance. It's a "MUST SEE" for everyone.

    Great show

by TheDadLyfeAdventures on 10/5/18Oriental Theatre Chicago - Chicago

I took my daughter (age 4) to see this. She loves the music from the show and it is often what she asks to listen to when I’m drivjng. The acting, sets, costumes and music are all fantastic. The main reason for giving it 4 stars is because one of my favorite songs from the cast album, “What could possibly go wrong”, was replace with “That little man of mine”. I also would have liked if they had Wonka candy bars available, after all it is a show that heavily revolves around candy!
