About

Hannah Gadsby has been a comedian for more than a decade but it was 2018 when the world took notice when their ground breaking comedy special launched on Netflix and stopped the comedy world in its tracks.

Nanette earned Hannah an Emmy, a Peabody, an Australian Academy Award, and the Most Outstanding Show awards at both the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Edinburgh Fringe. Since then, Hannah did two more solo stand-up comedy shows which toured the world - selling out houses across the USA, Australia and Europe, including the Sydney Opera House, the Royal Festival Hall, the Kennedy Centre, the London Palladium and the Opera House at BAM.

Hannah's second Netflix special, Douglas launched in 2020, and their third, Something Special landed on Netflix May 2023. Douglas was nominated for an Emmy and won an Australian Academy Award as did Something Special.

In 2022, they also managed to publish their New York Times Best Selling memoir, Ten Steps To Nanette in more than ten languages, chatted with the likes of Colbert and Fallon and hosted a gala at the Montreal Just For Laughs comedy festival.

Hannah also co-curated an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, taking part in the global celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of Picasso's death featuring works from the Musée Picasso in Paris alongside those from the Brooklyn Museum's Feminist Art Collection.

Hannah's fourth special with Netflix was recorded in 2023 and launched in 2024, recorded in London, the Gender Agenda bought together gender queer comedians from around the world.

    Amazing

Hannah is an incredibly skilled storyteller. She is funny and witty. I love her choices of words. She makes you laugh as she guides you through every detail of the story beautifully. I really enjoyed this show, as I have everything else I has released.

    Much-needed belly laughs

by Ymp on 5/6/22Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

Hannah Gadsby's "Body of Work" was just the comical respite I didn't realize I needed. Hannah's "feel-good show" was that, but also chock a block with her unque, rambling brand of comedic storytelling. I'd seen her perform years before on her Douglas tour, so I knew better than to go in expecting anything except to laugh. For nearly 2 hours she rambled, never feeling aimless, and taking enough side routes and scenic detour to pass the time without feeling like we were passing the time. By the end, I was delighted and surprised to find where we ended up (no spoilers), and honestly could have sat there for another 2 hours! The theater was well-organized, clean and easy to access. It also felt like a very inclusive and safe space, as an LGBT person who is also member of a minority. And thanks for saying "gay," Hannah! Good on ya!

    Amazing show and venue

by Heather on 5/6/22Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker - Ft Lauderdale

Upon walking in, staff informed us about the no cell phone/Yondr bags and they were courteous and efficient. The venue as always, was beautiful and intimate. Hannah Gadsby is genuine, articulate, and amazingly funny. Her show was a blend of a “rom-com” with a few current events thrown in. She is superbly gifted at word crafting and storytelling and I’d love to see her again.

    Astoundingly brilliant

by Rowan on 5/5/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

You don't need to have seen either of Hannah Gadsby's other works to fully enjoy Body of Work. She witty, smart, and her jokes are all well-formulated. The entire show was crafted extremely well and was amazingly clever. I would absolutely recommend Body of Work to everyone.

Wraps it up, but always leaves you wanting more...

by Coleen on 5/4/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

While a "glorified TedTalk" is always appreciated and a "lecture" always useful, this particular show felt more like a conversation with a friend. She's let us in on her private life before and this show opens the door to the happier parts. It has had me talking to friends about how we accept and work around each other's traumas, sensory differences, unintentional insults, and quirks. We all benefit from self-evaluation as well as nudges from our loved ones to stay in the game of life and Hannah seems to be fully embracing that with her wife and friends. Really quite lovely. I thought I wasn't going to get the satisfaction-you know the one where she makes you go "aaahhh" (touches the nose). But there it was right at the end. Made me want to rewind my eyeballs and ears so I could see it coming. Mike drop (or gently placed on the ground).

Hannah was Amazing. ASO and Yondr not so much

by AtlFineGirl on 5/4/22Atlanta Symphony Hall - Atlanta

I thoroughly enjoyed Hannah's show and I'm so glad I went! What a privilege to see her show in person! I think Yondr (mobile phone pouch company) and the venue made getting in and getting out of the show unnecessarily stressful. There were ridiculously long lines to get into the theater because there was one station to get a Yondr pouch at, which basically meant they were flashing lights warning that the show was about to begin while we were still 50 deep in line. Then it took ages to get out because there were no clear instructions on where to go to get the pouches opened in order to retrieve our phones. It was unnecessarily chaotic. If you're going to require a mobile phone-free experience, at least know how to do it well rather than look like amateurs and cause ticket holders stress.

One of the best nights of my life

by Amy on 4/30/22DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Hannah Gadsby is brilliant. The same care she put into Nanette was put into this show. It was different content and she more than delivered on her promise of a “feel-good evening.” But, none of her material is frivolous or without realism which offers even more humor. There were several times that I was physically doubled over from laughing so hard. I’m still laughing, a week later, as I remember her jokes and the unique ways that she delivers them. I will see her as many times as I am able. She’s truly one of a kind and well worth the most expensive ticket price.

    Brilliant and lovely performance

by Venicecoxes on 4/30/22DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

We attended the evening with Hannah Gadsby knowing we would enjoy it. She was determined not to bring up the difficult issues plaguing our times. Hannah delivers an uplifting review of what it’s like to be caught in rural Australia with her dogs, rabbits and her lover during the time of Covid. Of course, she can’t always help herself, touching upon those very issues that we know lurked outside the glorious bubble of her storytelling, as she wove in facts to her unique tapestry that folds in on itself like a Renaissance tapestry or a three dimensional cubist object. We can’t wait to see her again and are considering a road trip to Atlanta or even rural Australia ! We love Hannah Gadsby ! XOXO
