About

Hozier is one of the most successful folk artists of the 21st century. Born Andrew Hozier-Byrne, the Irish singer-songwriter first toured internationally as a member of the Irish vocal group Anúna before going solo in 2012. His watershed moment came a year later when his first single, “Take Me to Church” was released. In 2014, it rose to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and ushered in Hozier’s self-titled debut, which itself reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. “Take Me to Church” closed 2014 as Spotify’s most-shared song of the year and garnered Hozier’s first career Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. His 2019 sophomore full-length, Wasteland Baby!, topped the Billboard 200 and was supported by Hozier’s first solo headlining world tour. In 2023, Hozier released his third album, Unreal Unearth. Throughout his career, Hozier has collaborated with artists such as Mavis Staples, Annie Lennox, Maren Morris, Noah Kahan, Brandi Carlile and composer Bear McCreary.

    Hozier concert experience

by Newfan on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Hozier captures us and takes us on a beautiful wave of connected flow for the night. I love seeing musicians in a smaller venue with room to move in lawn seating, always my first choice. Acoustics and some obstruction of stage could be better for this location but always trickier outdoors. Listening the the album in full back home really hearing how this is much more than a collection of songs. Thank you for a great concert

    Amazing show, not venue

by Scott on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Everything about the concert and performance itself was amazing. If you are a Hozier fan then stop delaying and see him right away because it’s an incredible experience. The voice, the visuals, the crowd - One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. But I will never do again though, is go to a concert at Darien Lake. After decades of hosting concerts, you would think they would somehow figure out how to properly move people out after a show… Yet people sat without moving for literally two hours and even longer to get out. Darien Lake - figure it out. This alone will have me question ever attending a concert at that venue again. Hozier - keep on being amazing.

    Incredible Hozier

by Reegs on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Hozier sounds even better live. His music takes you on an emotional journey and fills your soul with joy. Hozier connects with the crowd and his incredible singing makes you feel the energy and passion that he has for his songs. It is by far the best concert out there right now.

    Hozier was outstanding...as usual!!!

by Catzb on 5/25/24Merriweather Post Pavilion - Columbia

From start to finish, Allison Russell and Hozier put on an amazing show. Great energy, wonderful staging and effects, and of course their beautiful voices. They both exude a grace and gratefulness toward the fans and did all they could to both generate and play off of the energy in the crowd. An added surprise from Hozier was his appearance at the back of the pavilion facing the lawn for the first song of his encore...an acoustic Cherry Wine. I have seen him several times, and he never disappoints. Can't wait for the next time! Merriweather Post Pavilion was an excellent venue for the concert. Great staff and comfortable seats. Parking could have been better marked. We found our zone but only by the map as there were zero signs. Food was overpriced and of average quality.

    Most beautiful concert

by Cate on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Hozier was absolutely phenomenal! This was a concert that made me not only so excited to just be there but also made me cry at times because of how beautiful the sound was. Hozier is truly someone which I feel like anyone will enjoy seeing and I hope I’ll be able to see him again!

Hozier was great, the venue needs work

by Logan on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

I thought Hozier was great in concert, he’s a very talented singer, they played a good length of time and played a nice variety of his discography. His band was amazing, there was a lot of talent on stage that night. I thought it was cool to see him so casually interact with the audience as well. It was great to see him express his gratitude to all of his band members along with the whole production and tech team for all of their hard work, and give high accolades to the opening artist Allison Russell (not something I always see from headline artists so that was refreshing) My complaints are mostly about the venue! Why were they only selling “Liquid Death” canned water? What even is that? We would prefer some normal bottled water next time, please and thanks. And I have no idea why it took well over two and a half hours for us to even start moving when we left the concert early. It was super frustrating to be gridlocked in traffic with no sign of movement or even a single staff member. There was not a soul directing traffic until we reached the exits. Darien Lake needs to hire more staff, there was no reason it should have been that long of a wait. Lastly, I paid like $70-$80 for “premiere parking” but nobody even checked my ticket for premiere parking and I’m fairly sure we were just directed to park in a random spot. What a scam that was. Despite all of that, my friends and I had a great time at the concert, and the venue was laid out well and had decent food and the merch stands moved quickly. So overall (besides the points I mentioned) it was a good experience.

    Hozier fine

by no thank you on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

But Darien Lake’s sound is awful. It’s embarrassing that they ask professional musicians to play in such a setting.

    Uplifting

by Jihan on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Hozier and Allison were both incredible and very uplifting. We’ve now seen Hozier live three times, and Allison live three times. There’s just something about the messages in their respective music that helps you to remember the beauty of this life. I can’t wait to see each of them again soon.

by SuzieQ58 on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Enjoyed his concert immensely ! Though at times I had hard time understanding lyrics. Maybe its just my age ..hahahaha. He is very talented and a great artist. I think its very tricky playing at Darien Lake as far as sound.

this concert made me religious again

by vee on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

i sobbed. what a beautiful concert with amazing arrangements and incredibly talented musicians. hozier is so well spoken and a wonderful performer. i always adored his music and lyricism but seeing it live was just on another level. his (SEVEN MINUTE) speech before nina cried power was so inspiring, i love when you can tell someone is talking about something they’re truly passionate about. allison russell is also something magical, i don’t think you get a voice like hers that often, i’ll definitely be checking her music out. the crowd was also lovely. i don’t go to concerts much because i get queasy at the idea of people screaming along to the music, but hozier’s music and audience isn’t like that. the crowd background vocals during to be alone and would that i made me absolutely sob. i didn’t realize how much of a fan i was until the concert, so many songs i knew in my BONES and the rest i’ve at least listened to an obscene number of times. it was an amazing setlist, i already made the playlist and have been listening to it on repeat. but truly, it doesn’t compare to the live experience. a few bits of feedback on the venue itself: the sound quality was a little iffy when the artists were talking, they sounded mumbly from my section (405) (although i did get to clearly hear allison call hozier forest daddy, lol). and i think there could’ve been more staff directing traffic when exiting the parking lot. i 100% understand the circumstances behind the delay but some transparency and communication at the moment would’ve made it less stressful. overall it was a beautiful experience. as i said, i’m not much of a concert person so this has truly become a core memory for me. it’s the only thing ill be talking about for the next week at least.

    Great Concert-bad parking

by LeslieAMak on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Hozier was amazing! The venue is easy to walk through. The dynamics of the structure cause a lot of obstructions and the seating is mostly flat meaning short people can't see. The parking lot is atrocious. We sat in our car for 2 hours unable to move because we were blocked in.

    Great show!

by Jackson on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Just an absolutely amazing event and venue, everyone was so kind and welcoming, it made the whole experience 10x better. Even at the very end when we were lost there was someone to come and help us out! 10/10 would come back!

    Hozier:Amazing. DarienLake: Awful

by Nell on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Last show I will ever do at Darien Lake unless they address the parking nightmare. 2 HOURS before we could even pull out of our spot into the line of traffic, another 40 minutes to inch our way 1/2 mile to the road. Hozier was phenomenal. 40 years of concerts under my belt- I'd rank Hozier in the top 5.

    amazing performance!!

by erika on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

hozier and his band did such an amazing job and put on such a beautiful performance. their lighting and stage crews did wonderful as well, the ambiance fit the night perfectly. the crowd around us were all so clearly hozier fans, singing along to every word, and not just there so they could say they saw hozier. even the people selling merch were nice!! the only thing that was horrible was the parking lot after, and waiting an hour to get out of the parking lot. there was a concert goer who was directing traffic instead of security!! otherwise, it was a great experience and event.

    Parking

by Gilbo on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Hozier was great. Venue is great but parking is pathetic. We were lucky and it took us an hour to exit the parking lot and we were closer to the front! We had friends there who waited 2 hours!!! There are traffic lights at the main exit. Police were present but instead of turning the lights to flashing sequence and directing traffic they left just stood and watched. Nice work.

    Hozier at Darien Lake

by Emily on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

This show was truly incredible, but I’m not in the least bit surprised. It was a beautiful evening and we had a big full moon at the start of the show. The setlist was everything I could’ve ever wanted and I cannot wait to see him again on this tour. One note about the venue though is that it was the absolute worst parking experience of my entire concert-going life — I probably won’t go back to the Darien Lake amphitheater again because it was unacceptable that the show ended at 10:40 and I was not out of the complex until 1am. Not Hozier’s fault by any means so please go see him if you can :)

    Great show but.....

by Lori on 5/25/24Darien Lake Amphitheater - Darien Center

Concert was fantastic- Hozier was great and the scenery/stage were cool. Sound system still needs a little work ( very hard to hear when conversations are going on) and the parking is ridiculous- they really do need to get a better exit strategy in place- we left as encore was starting because we knew it would be a mess; and we still sat there 2 1/2 hours before hitting pavement - and this was just concert traffic- park wasn't even open..... we sat in complete standstill longer than anyone was on stage.....
