Awesome Experience!
by DC on 5/7/24Paycom Center - Oklahoma CityI became a fan of AJR during the show. My wife was a casual listener and wanted to see the show, I had only heard a few songs in passing. Their show was a theatrical audio visual experience with some really fun crowd interaction. It was a stage show with misdirection and visual effects that would have been better if I had a seat that was straight from the stage because they employed a curved screen for some of their projections. But it was still an awesome show being on the side of the arena. For stage production quality *only*, as far as shows I’ve been to, it reminds me of some kind of oddball cross pollination of Pink Floyd & the Blue Man Group. Not the music, but the staging of the show. I had no preconceptions about their music because I’d barely heard any before the show and didn’t know what to expect. I had thought it would just be the band playing some music. Nope. It’s a production. A production full of joy and energy and emotion. Coincidentally, Ryan Met from AJR even said they wrote all 12 verses of the Maybe Man song the last time they toured in Oklahoma City when they visited the Myriad Botanic Gardens in OKC about a half mile from where we saw them play at the Paycom Center. Pretty cool and gave me an extra connection. Well worth seeing in concert. I’ll be seeing their next tour for sure.
