I have been to many comedy shows in the past, but Arl Barker and his line-up were pretty bad. They were not funny, the crowd was completely dis-engaged, and my fiance and I ended-up leaving during Arj's performance. I would not recommend paying money and seeing this guy. Arj should not be a headliner...period.
The two opening acts-hilarious. Arj- boring. I've seen his other stand up acts and he is hilarious. What happened Arj?
I didn't know much about Arj Barker before his show. I watched a few clips online and honestly wasn't too impressed. However, the show was a pleasant surprise. All of his jokes were a little longer (story based), which I really enjoy. I was laughing the whole time. I just really loved his attitude and demeanor. I would definitely go see him again! Also, I thought this was pretty cool: There were a couple of empty seats right next to me, so at the end of the show when the MC was promoting CD sales, Arj sat down in one of those seats. He interjected to announce that CDs would be on sale, but it was cool that he joined the crowd, and it was right next to me!
Great jokes, great time! Cobb's does it right! I'd definitely recommend to friends.
Arj Barker is one of my new favorite comedians. After seeing him open for Flight of the Conchords last May, I was excited that he was coming back to Seattle. I laughed so hard at this show that I was literally holding my side, trying to ease the pain. He does great call-backs to previous jokes and often sets up something that is seemingly obvious, then puts a hilarious last minute twist on it.
Wasn't sure what to expect of Arj's standup having only seen him on Flight of the Conchords. Was pleasantly surprised. Very funny guy!
I was very disappointed in the show! Arj needs to get some new material - ASAP! We were really excited to see him since he was super funny when he opened up for FOTC, maybe that was just a one time deal. Bottom line: We would never pay to see him live again. Sad!
I've been a fan of Arj for years now, and it was awesome to see how he's grown as a comic. He owns the stage, keeps you hurting from laughing so much, and makes you forget you're not a close, personal friend. An amazing talent and I'm SO GLAD we got tickets to this event.
Watching comedy is a great workout. Laughing is very good for you, I've heard, so Arj Barker should be recommended by doctors.
My cheeks hurt from smiling, my mascara was smeared down my face and I'm pretty sure I got a legit ab workout from laughing so hard. Arj is fantastic in such a small, intimate space because he really talks to and involves the audience.
Even the jokes that I had heard before made me laugh because they are still funny and his delivery is spot-on. I love this guy!
Arj was so comfortable telling it like it is and engaging the crowd. He was great! He's a modern-day philosopher in a stoner's body!
Taken from the good old days of David Letterman, for all you youngsters! Fell in love with Dave on FOC (Flight of the Concords)... Saw Arj in LA as an opening act at the Hollywood Bowl and laughed so hard I cried! Wanted to see him as a headlining act, but the only California show left was in SF... The penny pincher in me chose to spend my money and time in Portland, and that was definitely a great decision! The Bagdad Theater was awsome and Arj did not disappoint! This is one funny guy! All the best Arj~ You are going places!!!
I loved Arj. Everything he said was funny. He was quick to respond to the audience members who were yelling out and being rude. He handled it perfectly. The comedienne that came on just before him wasn't funny at all. They should find someone to replace her.
