About

Ari Lennox on Tour

Neo-soul singer Ari Lennox's sound and persona on the stage are simultaneously elegant and organic, both dreamy and down-to-earth. Some know her best by her 2019 hit "Shea Butter Baby," on which she paired up with her producer, R&B/hip-hop hero J. Cole, but whatever tune she lends her lungs to, Lennox breathes deep, soulful life into every single line. Her unique sound refuses to stand still long enough to be bolted into any one category; in her shows, old-school and contemporary R&B, jazz, pop and hip-hop all blend together into an amalgam unique to Lennox herself. When she communicates with the crowd in between songs, she isn't shy about speaking her mind and letting them know where her songs really come from — in the end, Lennox is all about keeping things real in every aspect of her performance.

Ari Lennox in Concert

In 2012, Washington, D.C.'s Ari Lennox began to make herself heard with a vibrant, idiosyncratic brand of R&B that combined roots-conscious, naturalistic neo-soul with a supple jazziness, undeniable pop instincts and an utterly of-the-moment quality that helped her music speak to the present moment. Like many fledgling artists of the 2010s, she started out releasing her music online herself, but by 2015 Lennox had a deal with Dreamville Records (the label owned by R&B and hip-hop star J. Cole). The first fruits of this partnership arrived in 2016 with the release of the Pho EP, with Cole acting as executive producer. After a long period of intense work, Lennox finally released her first full album, Shea Butter Baby, in 2019. The record made it to the Top 10 in the R&B charts, and later that same year, Lennox was mounting her first tour as a headliner.

    Ari was amazinggggggg

by Naturalgoddess on 3/28/23The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

Ari was the absolute best! She sung all my favorite songs on the new album and a few of her classics. However, I am not pleased with The Fillmore in SilverSpring, MD. We had to stand outside for about 90 minutes. It was damp, cold and we missed part of the opening act (Alex Vaughn) a local talent that we really wanted to see perform. I’ve been to The Fillmore several times and have never had to stand outside like this. I have a cold now from standing outside in the cold. Also, I’m almost positive they oversold that show. No way it should’ve been that packed. Next time I hope Ari’s team understands that she has the fanbase in the DMV to book her shows at the Capital Center. One night at the Capital Center would’ve taken care of the shows at The Howard Theater and The Fillmore. Again, Ari was amazingggg! Beautiful voice, great energy & stage presence.

This was my first concert and I’m so happy I was able to go see Ari Lennox. I love her music. Her stage presence was everything and I can’t wait to go see her again when she tours in the future. The House of Blues venue is nice and intimate!

    Black Girl Magic

by L. Hand on 3/21/23The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Saw Ari Lennox 3/18/23 at her Philly stop on her Age/Sex/Location tour. She did not disappoint and she also covered music from her incredible debut album Shea Butter Baby. So glad I got to see her live. Shout outs also to her opening acts, Jai’Len Josey and Alex Vaughn. Those ladies can sang! Wont hesitate to see Ari on her next tour.

Ari Lennox in Philly ASL tour

by Aaliyah Brown on 3/21/23The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Ari Lennox sounds exactly like her records. It was beautiful to be in the same room listening to my favorite artist live & not knowing the difference between the record & her live performance. I was really disappointed that she sung every song on Age/Sex/Location except for my ultimate favorite song Queen Space. She sung every single song off the album, majority of Shea Butter Baby & some from her EP & forgot the 1 song I came for. So that really made me upset. But overall a wonderful concert.

    An amazing time

by KDubUno on 3/21/23The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

I love Ari Lennox and the concert was amazing! The staff at Fillmore didn’t all seem on the same page and it took talking to multiple people to make sure I got what came with the VIP package. Other than that, it was truly an amazing time!

    I Love You Ari!!

by Ayanna on 3/21/23The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Ari put on an amazing show! She knows how to work the crowd and serve elite vocals while doing so. Her band and background singers held it down! I also want I note how amazing her opening acts Jai’Len Josey and Alex Vaughn were because the mics were onnnnnn! The aesthetic of the stage was beautiful as well and Ari looked so beautiful! Whenever Ari comes to town I will be in the crowd!

    Absolutely Stunning

by Amanda on 3/21/23The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

First of all, Ari is the sweetest person. She is so kind and has an amazing vibe. Meeting her was so fun and I appreciate her doing meet & greets. I’d say the only “negative” is that they push you through very quickly, you really have no chance to have a conversation with her which is hard but also germs, timing etc so I get it. NOW THE SHOW!! If you’re a true R&B fan obviously Ari will knock your socks off but let’s start with the openers. I went in fully blind and didn’t know both women and I literally didn’t know what to do with myself lol. Jai’len Josey literally blew me away. She walked out and chile she was sanginnnnnnn. You’ve gotta experience it for yourself, she is so talented and sweet. Her voice will have you captivated. Miss Alex Vaughn!!! whew! SAME THING! Voice, vibe, her set the whole 9. Phenomenal!!! Her lyrics are so deep and you can really connect with what she’s singing about if you’ve had really any life experience (same for Jai’len) I’ve never left a show and immediately streamed the opening acts. Both artists are amazing and perfectly fit Ari’s vibe. Now let’s get into THE Ari Lennox. Set it amazing, though i wish she would have sang blocking you 😩 but i’ll survive lmaoo. She did most of ASL and a good chunk of SBB so if you’re an SBB fan you’ll get your fix but ASL is equally amazing so you should be streaming that too!!! lol. Mic was ON and she sounded amazing. She’s so stunning and just a class act. I really enjoyed how she incorporated all three of her background singers as well because they are all also so crazy talented! All in all an amazing night of R&B. You will enjoy everyone who opens their mouth to sing when you go! If I can snag a last minute DC ticket I will be going again

    Longer Set

by French Toast Bae on 3/21/23The Fillmore Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Needed like two more songs from Ari Lennox. The house DJ was bad, I love JayZ but read the room. B-Side JayZ was for that demographic. Don’t get it twisted, Ari killed, just wanted more.
