Arch Enemy on Tour

Veteran performers, this melodic death metal group have toured far and wide beyond their Swedish origins. One of Arch Enemy's first outings, the Burning Bridges tour, was a rough ride — in 1999, bassist Sharlee d'Angelo was replaced twice. The band smoothed things out as they hit Japan a few years later in support of albums Wages of Sin and Anthems of Rebellion. Ever since, Arch Enemy's aggressive jaunts have spanned the globe: Europe, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand and even South Korea. They've toured with groups like Trivium, DragonForce and Opeth, and have shared festival bills with bands such as Megadeth, Judas Priest, Slayer and Anthrax. June 2019 marks the start of a massive world tour beginning at the Rock am Ring festival in Nürburg, Germany, and hits the U.S. in the fall.

Arch Enemy Background

Arch Enemy were founded in 1996, and the group's original members included guitarist Christopher Amott of Armageddon and drummer Daniel Erlandsson of Eucharist, as well as guitarist Michael Amott of Carnage and vocalist and bassist Johan Liiva (both of whom were also in the Liverpool-based extreme metal group Carcass). Releasing Black Earth in 1996, they started gaining an audience right from the beginning. The album, released on Wrong Again, debuted at No. 193 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and No. 97 on the Swedish charts. After the success of Black Earth, Arch Enemy signed with Century Media to release Stigmata in 1998, immediately followed by 1999's Burning Bridges. Both albums charted in the U.S. and Sweden, as well as France, Germany, Japan and Finland. In 2000, vocalist Liiva left, was replaced by German death metal singer Angela Gossow and the new lineup released Wages of Sin the following year. Gossow was the group's frontwoman until 2014, when she was replaced by Alissa White-Gluz. Released in 2017, Will to Power was the band's first album to feature clean singing; it was ranked on Metal Hammer's 100 Best Albums of 2017 list and won Best Album that year in Burn! Magazine as well.

    Archenemy show

by Pat on 10/27/19The Observatory - Santa Ana

The show was excellent. The venue was the perfect size so that no matter where you were you felt like they were performing only for you. Alissa was very impressive and engaged with the crowd throughout the show. I would recommend seeing Archenemy. Definitely worth the money. I would also recommend the meet and greet, they appreciate their fans and they show it. I look forward to seeing them again.

    Love metal!

    by Chomo24 on 11/13/17MTELUS - Montreal

This was a great show but we had to leave because of the sound quality. I LOVE Trivium! That is the main reason. That I bought the tickets. They sounded great!! We stayed for Arch Enemy even though we aren't too familiar with their songs. Unfortunately, we had to leave early because the sound was terrible. The music overall was good but the bass and reverb was so intense it gave us headaches. Disappointed!

    Trivium was epic!!!

    by MarvinBrown80 on 11/2/17The Masquerade - Atlanta

It was a great show. It was my first time at the masquerade since they have moved to underground and the venue was great. A great view of the show from wherever you are on the floor. Security was on top of every situation that arose. There were two more bands that weren't billed that were good and made it a bonus to show up early. Trivium blew the roof off of the place with arch enemy a very close second. While she sleeps was a great band that I had never heard or but now own two albums from them. Overall an excellent night.

    Trivium and Arch Enemy

by HTDM on 10/31/17The Masquerade - Atlanta

This show was amazing! Best Trivium tour I've been too, down to the opening bands! I highly recommend catching a show on this tour! The only thing that was kind of "eh..." To me was the Trivium VIP. It was rushed through, not like their VIPs used to be at all! You got maybe 30 seconds with the band, Matt Heafy barely had time to shake my hand. It was the quickest meet and greet I've ever bend to for the price. But I'm still giving the show itself 5 stars, you don't wanna miss it!!

    Finally, my favorite band!

    by Sarahlynn714 on 10/31/17The Masquerade - Atlanta

Finally saw Arch Enemy after waiting for nearly 16 years of wanting too. One of the best concerts I have ever seen, ranging through all of the genres and venues I've been too. Solid show, everything sounded just as it does on their albums. My god this was a damn good show.

I had not seen Arch Enemy in more than 10 years so this was a long time coming for one of my favorite bands. First time seeing them with new lead singer so that was a bit different. Thought she did a very good job though and look forward to more great music from them in the future.

    Arch Enemy rocks!

by bdskull419 on 11/29/14House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

I've been into Arch Enemy for a long time now. Several months ago they changed lead singers. I wasn't sure how much the change would effect how I felt about the band, but I was a fan of Alissa when she was with The Agonist, and I really enjoy the new Arch Enemy album. After seeing the show last week, I'm very impressed. Arch Enemy is a fantastic, high energy live show. Loved them when Angela was the singer, and still love them with Alissa. Keep up the great work.

    high energy

by brut34 on 11/20/14House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

every band starting with starkill thru headliner, arch enemy, this show was full of different styles of metal!! huntress came on strong with wailing and screeching vocals paired with dualing guitars and then kreator came down upon the anaheim crowd and crushed it!! after the crowd caught its breath after that beating, arch enemy and there new lead singer picked up where the band left off after parting ways with angela gassow and did NOT disappoint!! great night of metal!!

    Great show

by mrsyoungkm on 11/15/14House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

The venue is too small and cramped. Pay for a seat upgrade upon arrival to sit on the balcony and avoid being smothered and pushed all night. Getting there (walking through downtown disney) was a little bit of a pain too. Probably wouldn't go back to this venue due to location and size. Kreator and Arch Enemy sounded amazing as always. The sound quality was great. Arch Enemy's new singer really was a let down though, I felt like I was at a kiddie concert with her punk look and playing air guitar and every guitar solo.

    Arch Enemy

One of the best shows this year!

by afunkychild on 11/14/14House of Blues Sunset Strip - West Hollywood

I actually got tickets because I wanted to see Kreator. I had never heard of Arch Enemy prior this show. Kreator was fantastic! Not say Arch Enemy wasn't- I was actually pleased with their set as well, but Kreator was hands down the best band who played that stage.

    Arch Enemy Rocked it Out

Arch Enemy was a mind blowing event

by Nevermore6187 on 10/29/14Upstate Concert Hall - Clifton Park

First off I'd like to thank Arch Enemy for coming to the area to play I never thought they would. Now for the show, they played not only well but their performance was so energetic it casted itself amongst the crowd. Each song they played went smoothly, the equipment sounded great, they kept the night going well. I really enjoyed the line up they had and how interactive the band was. Some might say I am boosting this review too much, but I digress. I've been to a good few amount of shows and some just didn't live up to the crowd. You might love a band but you can tell when they play to just be done. Arch Enemy is awesome in concert don't even think of going just go. One negative thing is I wish the line up was better yeah they were ok but it would have been nice to get some better metal bands in there I didn't think their opener Kreator was good the crowd seemed to love them but they weren't to my taste. It would've been awesome if they got Amon Amarth to play. This ends my review metal for life!
