About

Animal Collective's founding members, Avey Tare and Panda Bear, began their musical collaboration in 2000 with the release of the folk-meets-electronica album Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished. Adding two new band members to the roster—Geologist and Deaken—the band's music moved into more experimental territory on their second release, Danse Manatee, an album full of electronic bleeps, cymbal crashes and otherworldly vocals. 2003 saw the release of the lo-fi folk album Campfire Songs as well as the psychedelic rock album Here Comes the Indian. The group's most accessible release to date, Sung Tongs, appeared in 2004, receiving enthusiastic praise from fans and critics alike. The group kept busy in 2005, releasing an EP, Prospect Hummer, in collaboration with the singer Vashti Bunyan and a new full-length, Feels.

Animal Collective Incredible! WAY TOO SHORT >:(

by Coolkid9000 on 7/10/11Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park - Alpharetta

Animal Collective put on probably the best show i've seen, but for the cost I think it was way too short. I was very surprised and disappointed when the show ended as well as the majority of the crowd that I observed. Would have given 5 stars if it lasted a little longer. Didn't care so much for Verizon Amphitheater.

    Great show

Animal Collective played a lot of new material which must mean another album is in the works. They also played several great older songs. The opening acts were good too, I was pleasantly surprised to see Atlas Sound perform as I wasn't aware of the "special guests" when I bought my ticket.

Animal Collective is a great band, and this becomes very evident in their live shows. They are capable of attending to the crowd's innermost desires and whimsies. The stage set-up was pretty artistic, with props and ever changing ambient lights. From part of the crowd you could see the whole animal collective gang, hopping and doing the dance. From another part of the crowd, you could only make out half of the members- but this is true for most concerts. I would most definitely go back to another show. I hope they continue to make Music and expand their on-stage art. I want more, its never enough!

something like a primal and precious netherworld.

They sounded the most "hi fi" of any artist I have yet seen perform. Their songs were all very different than studio releases, and they did play things from their individual releases. Felt a bit short, but time flies when you're having fun.

They played for an hour and forty five min. Mainly new stuf which was good... They should've chose a different venue to play at. Not many ppl were there. Don't plan on seeing them live ever...
