André Rieu on Tour
André Rieu is nothing short of a cosmopolitan treasure. The Dutch violinist has dedicated his life to spreading the joy of the waltz to fans across the world. Since starting the Johann Strauss Orchestra in the late ‘80s, he's taken his dynamic ensemble — which numbers around 60 — everywhere from Europe and Asia to the Americas and Australia. Almost every year, the orchestra lands on Billboard's list of Top 25 tours, with Rieu recognized by the publication in 2009 as the most successful male touring artist in the world. Yearly, his group performs between 70 and 100 shows worldwide. Rieu has become famous for his energetic stage presence and thrilling repertoire. Often playing on the violin from the conductor's podium and leading his orchestra at the same time, engaging the audience in his dramatic and buoyant readings of well-known tunes, Rieu is as close to a rock star as one can get in the classical world.
André Rieu in Concert
Rieu was born in Maastricht, Netherlands, in 1949 to a father who was the conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. So a life in music came naturally. He began studying the violin at age 5, eventually training at conservatories in Liège, Maastricht and Brussels. During his studies, he became obsessed with the waltz as he recognized how thoroughly the Viennese form gripped audiences when played from a stage. After a number of performance posts, including with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, Rieu created the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987. The group would be dedicated primarily to performing waltzes the world over. With his orchestra, Rieu has not only toured but released live DVDs and CDs, many of which have gone platinum, and he's responsible for the beloved annual New Year's concerts in Vienna, the birthplace of Strauss and the home of the waltz.

My second time to see Andre Rieu. Great performance. Was disappointed in the venue. Difficult to get transportation with the streets. Loved and only one entrance/exit was difficult. Paid for the best seats, on the floor, and couldn’t even see the stage.
Andre Rieu and his orchestra are wonderful and we truly enjoyed the whole show, disappointed I didn't get a program nor could I find one m would be interesting to read whose who? Have no idea who the Black choir were and have tried online cant seem to find, we otherwise had no issues.
Brillant show hope they return!!!!! I watch them on you tube but that is nothing compared to the live show
We are the fan of Andre Rieu for long. His performance is very enjoying on every song. We went to see him in Maastricht in summer and will go back to Maastricht for Christmas concert again. Seeing him at our hometown is nice. He really engaged the audiences to go along with him. His movie is coming out and very interesting to watch them.
The show was fantastic and the event was very well organized. It was expensive, but worth it. It was something we will remember for a long time.
It was a pleasant experience but I expected more - it seemed a repeat of what he always do. He did not bring a unique Boston experience as he always does around the word - presenting a piece of local cultural experience as a surprise. I think he could have done more homework on Boston and MA culture and history.
The concept was amazing. Andre Rieu was funny, talented and perfect as always. Well chosen musicians and repertoire. I recommend the concert to everyone!
I was hoping to see a classic music concert casual performed. However, the concert was too noised as it was mixed with other style of music. Plus the outfit of the players are princess dressed, which is another deviation from classic music. Overall experience was good, but it differed than what I watched from YouTube.
Andre Reiu did not disappoint us. The show was fantastic, fun, beautiful all in one. Everyone was having a great time singing along and dancing. Will definitely go again. Come back soon!! Also, Deborah and Morgan, our guest greeters were wonderful, going above and beyond to help my friend and me with our wheelchairs and getting us out on time to get our ride.
This was the second Rieu concert we have seen. They are wonderful for all ages and all people everywhere!
What a fantastic show! Totally satisfied! The enthusiasm of Andre and his performers makes for a rousing performance. Really loved the bagpipers and gospel singers.
Had only seen videos of him. Live was wonderful, an incredible sense of humor and a quick wit. My wife was in tears, she was so happy. If you like classical music, or especially Andre Rieu, go see him in person.
I liked that it started exactly on time . It was funny to see him comment on people coming in late for the show. Loved the outfits the orchestra person were wearing "beautiful". It was refreshing to see how well everyone played their music. You can see how everyone was enjoying the show and didn't want it to end. Hope Andre comes back to Boston next year!
We were excited to experience one of the most famous violin players. Unfortunately we only saw him carry the instrument throughout a long corny and commercial concert. Andre only used his violin for 2 pieces at the end of the concert. The orquestra had really talented members, unfortunately the concert was a copy of rieu’s utube concerts. Nothing new.
I booked my tickets thinking I was going to see the ladies in beautiful gowns and men in tuxes dancing in the aisles. It’s breathtaking to watch on the various clips on the internet. Huge disappointment that nothing even close to this was done.
I am a long time fan of Andre Rieu. I last saw him at the Nassau Coliseum. His return visit to Long Island was a triumph. If you ever get a chance to see him live, you should not hesitate. Buy your tickets early and enjoy!
Outstanding Performance. Words cannot describe the joy.
Andre Rieu is one of the best. His production, his troupe, his music, his personality kept the audience clapping, stomping their feet, and some were even lucky enough to get on the floor and dance. The evening went too quickly the audience did not want it to end and kept shouting "More, More". Have been a fan for many years but this was the first time in person. My Grandchildren have been brought up on his music and it was a experience to bring one Granddaughter, now 28, to enjoy the evening bringing love of family enjoying music together. Highly recommend you will not be disappointed Andre Rieu and his Strauss Orchestra are not to be missed.
The show was great. The music was awesome. The musicians and vocalists were the best. Never a dull moment as all of the performers seemed to love their jobs and fellow musicians and Andre. The longest and best encore performance I have ever seen!
