André Rieu on Tour
André Rieu is nothing short of a cosmopolitan treasure. The Dutch violinist has dedicated his life to spreading the joy of the waltz to fans across the world. Since starting the Johann Strauss Orchestra in the late ‘80s, he's taken his dynamic ensemble — which numbers around 60 — everywhere from Europe and Asia to the Americas and Australia. Almost every year, the orchestra lands on Billboard's list of Top 25 tours, with Rieu recognized by the publication in 2009 as the most successful male touring artist in the world. Yearly, his group performs between 70 and 100 shows worldwide. Rieu has become famous for his energetic stage presence and thrilling repertoire. Often playing on the violin from the conductor's podium and leading his orchestra at the same time, engaging the audience in his dramatic and buoyant readings of well-known tunes, Rieu is as close to a rock star as one can get in the classical world.
André Rieu in Concert
Rieu was born in Maastricht, Netherlands, in 1949 to a father who was the conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. So a life in music came naturally. He began studying the violin at age 5, eventually training at conservatories in Liège, Maastricht and Brussels. During his studies, he became obsessed with the waltz as he recognized how thoroughly the Viennese form gripped audiences when played from a stage. After a number of performance posts, including with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, Rieu created the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987. The group would be dedicated primarily to performing waltzes the world over. With his orchestra, Rieu has not only toured but released live DVDs and CDs, many of which have gone platinum, and he's responsible for the beloved annual New Year's concerts in Vienna, the birthplace of Strauss and the home of the waltz.

First rate and well conducted. Really enjoyed the Scottish bagpipes
It was my mom’s dream to watch Andre Rieu concert live but the pandemic hit and then my mom passed away recently sadly. I took her sisters and brother in Qc City and it was the most memorable concert we had ever seen. The selection of music was perfect especially with the tenors and sopranos. Elegant, beautiful and entertaining! My mom would have loved it and she was dancing and smiling I am sure. Merci Andre Rieu
Fab show. Will be buying tickets to see you again in Europe.
I almost want to say the most important, but the whole show was amazing! I was so impressed that the show started on time!!!! Well done!!! We should do this again everywhere. The show was fantastic!!! Loved the variety and every emotion I had. A wonderful evening.
We had an amazing time at the André Rieu concert in Boston! He never fails to entertain!!
Great selections so many added professionals outside the orchestra
I love Andre Rieu. Saw his show years ago in Nassau Coliseum. That show was great. I enjoyed this show at USB Arena, however, I did not love it as much as I did the first time we saw him His first show had a lot more dancing, more orchestra music and he played a lot. I felt like this show was very different. There was a lot more singing and choirs but I also felt he himself did not play as much as his first show. It was an enjoyable night. I just expected more.
Maestro Rieu is the real deal; he is someone who actually loves his profession and it shows the way he interacts with the audience. The only other person I can think of that comes close was the great Arthur Feidler, although not as flamboyant as Andre Rieu, you could just tell that "showman"also owned every note played by the Boston Pops.
The show was nice, costumes were beautiful and Andre was very funny and interacted quite a bit with the audience. His 'guests' were great too; a local bag pipe band and a gospel chior. I was a little disappointed that he very rarely played (one or two songs, at most). He held his violin throughout the entire show, but that's about it. Nice show but we went to see him play.
My positive anticipation for the Andre Reiu Concert was far exceeded by a top notch Show , outstanding performers, lead by their charismatic leader. This was a fast paced, energetic show with ample audience participation. I would also like to commend the professional and caring staff of TD Garden, who I witnessed performing multi acts of kindness to senior citizens. They were knowledgeable , polite and available, making a great evening even more enjoyable. The Staff in the Loge 13 area were most helpful.
Wow! What a performance! The classics, blues , Gospel, Bolero, even bagpipes and drums….and of course those Strauss Waltzes! What an orchestra. Thanks to the entire group. I can’t wait until they get to Boston again.
I hope he will stay with the beautiful music that has made him famous and not drift into modern day, loud, shouting "music". The concert was fantastic and I would go again in a minute if he comes South. Boston was a long hike to celebrate my birthday, but it was worth it! Dot
Andre Rieu is the ultimate showman and most talented conductor in decades! His demeanor and subtle gestures engage his audience. His amazing orchestra, singers and soloists are among the finest in the world. To be in the presence of this incredible ensemble is pure joy. Great man.. great performance!
From the beginning when AR and his orchestra walked by the audience until the end, it was fantastic. Loved the local bagpipe band from the northshore as well. The only thing i thought was weird was when midconcert they all just upped and left without mentioning it was a intermission. Would love to see him again.
Great show! Unfortunately we missed part of the first half; caught in traffic trying to get to parking. UIC may not be a good venue for Reiu concerts. Difficult to hear, especially Andre's European accent. Parking is a problem for the arena.
It was great, great orchestra, great sound, Andre is very humoristic
Ive been hoping to see Andre Rieu in person for years. Now I can cross him off my “Bucket List”! However, I would enjoy seeing his live performances again and again. Amazing showman and musicians.
I was so happy to have been at Andre Reiu's concert. It was delightful, colorful, fun and fabulous. He is an excellent narrator and violinist. The orchestra was wonderful along with the array of beautiful costuming for the women. The vocalists and soloists were above par, Gospel group was fantastic. I was also impressed he used local talent as well. Best show ever! Only downside was the latecomers who as usual, had front row seats. Come On people, don't show up a half hour late. It is insulting to the performers. Andre handled it well though.
The best of the bests shows I ever seen in my life. Thank you so much to all the participants.
