André Rieu on Tour
André Rieu is nothing short of a cosmopolitan treasure. The Dutch violinist has dedicated his life to spreading the joy of the waltz to fans across the world. Since starting the Johann Strauss Orchestra in the late ‘80s, he's taken his dynamic ensemble — which numbers around 60 — everywhere from Europe and Asia to the Americas and Australia. Almost every year, the orchestra lands on Billboard's list of Top 25 tours, with Rieu recognized by the publication in 2009 as the most successful male touring artist in the world. Yearly, his group performs between 70 and 100 shows worldwide. Rieu has become famous for his energetic stage presence and thrilling repertoire. Often playing on the violin from the conductor's podium and leading his orchestra at the same time, engaging the audience in his dramatic and buoyant readings of well-known tunes, Rieu is as close to a rock star as one can get in the classical world.
André Rieu in Concert
Rieu was born in Maastricht, Netherlands, in 1949 to a father who was the conductor of the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra. So a life in music came naturally. He began studying the violin at age 5, eventually training at conservatories in Liège, Maastricht and Brussels. During his studies, he became obsessed with the waltz as he recognized how thoroughly the Viennese form gripped audiences when played from a stage. After a number of performance posts, including with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra, Rieu created the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1987. The group would be dedicated primarily to performing waltzes the world over. With his orchestra, Rieu has not only toured but released live DVDs and CDs, many of which have gone platinum, and he's responsible for the beloved annual New Year's concerts in Vienna, the birthplace of Strauss and the home of the waltz.

Very entertaining and fun. Loved the performance of all.
We went to his concert when he came to Philadelphia, and it was great. So we took the long ride up to Long Island to see it again. This time he never played his violin, constantly asked for long, time consuming applauses, and had a repertoire far inferior to the one in Philly. The Gospel choir lasted way too long, the intermission non announcement was quite odd, and the vocal solos were totally non inspiring. The best things were the bag pipes and the 102 year old soldier.
There are performances you don't want to end, and there are ones you think is not real life...
My wife and I have been waiting for this concert for a long time, counting days before the show. We've watched so many videos and full Andre Rieu's concerts on YouTube and had really high expectations for the live concert. Unfortunately, it was just okay. The first half of the concert was good and the second one was not as spectacular. The whole show was too fragmented with too many guest performers and definitely not enough of Andre and his beautiful orchestra performing. The UBS arena is a really nice venue, convenient parking, great sitting and much better sound quality than most of the other large venues. Still don't regret coming over, but a bit disappointed with the performance itself.
Andre Rieu is a great orchestra leader/performer! The show he puts together is tremendous, classy and elegant! I don't know when he and his group will be back, but I will be there - guaranteed!
Not enough classical music but overhaul we have good time specially the end of the show was great
I loved this concert! Andre did a superb performance! We got more than our money's worth!! The concert started on time and had music from a variety of genres. It was simply marvelous!!
This was an amazing show! Beautiful, very colorful, very talented singers and musicians, people were singing and dancing! It was a lot of fun! I loved it!
Excellent show! Fantastic music, very elegant performers. Andre Rieu is a the perfect master of ceremony and an accomplished. We had a wonderful evening and completely satisfied with the entire show.
The Andre Rieu concert @ LI’s UBS arena was magical. Why? The special diversity of the audience & their civility, the colorful sets, the acoustics & video capability &, of course, the Conductor & his orchestra. Rieu is a master showman & musician. Between the performances of a 102 year old WWII Vet on his sax, the bagpipers, the soloists there was a special musical experience to be had. And Rieu delivered!
Best concert ever. Very interactive performer making the audience interact and laugh at the same time, making it joyable to be there. Loved the fact that he incorporates other performers into his concerts. The lights, the background scenery, the sound, the players. Just excellent !!!
Every single moment spent with Andre Rieu and his orchestra is pure bliss. Thank you Master, I bow to you and your magnificent team.
Magnificent! Unforgettable emotions! So glad that I was able to attend!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Andre Rieu and was so excited to see this concert! But I was very dismayed at the gospel group that came out to perform. Not Rieu's caliber of previous performances. Seemed totally out of place. It seemed that the audience responded well but I sat there thinking that I paid $125. to hear this screeching and watch Bo Jangle shenanigans?! And, why didn't the orchestra play the Ohio Stat University fight song???? Kept expecting it. Usually when the orchestra enters a venue they play a song pertinent to that city, country, area, venue. A circus song???? Very disappointed!! The rest of the concert was good but I wouldn't buy tickets to see them in person again. The YouTube videos are just as good - even better!!
It was absolutely great and awesome. André Rieu and his orchestra are spectacular they way they look, their smiles, their behavior and fun attitudes!!! We love them.
Just a very entertaining, all around feel good show ! I have seen him before and he never fails to put on an enjoyable show. He presented all types of music and songs with polished performers. Well worth the money. I would go to see him again-I only hope that he doesn’t take so long to make a return engagement to the DC/Balto area. 👍👍
When I bought the tickets, I saw that they were in row B which is the second row in my section, which I thought it was great... except the first 2 lines were added either by the venue or the organizer, so instead of the regular seat they were (very uncomfortable) folding chairs. The floor was also very slippery so I ended up kicking the lower back of the person in the first row (since it was uncovered by the folding chair). Luckily there were some free spots a couple of rows behind me so I was able to move during the intermission. Please stop selling these made up seats. It's almost a scam.
André Rieu and his orchestra are just incredible. Not only the music is beautiful, but they really show throughout the show that they truly enjoy it, and for this reason the audience feels the same vibe. He is funny and charming too.
We surprised my niece with a trip to DC to see Andre & his JSO for her 14th birthday - she is in orchestra and absolutely LOVES him. She cried when we told her about the surprise! We had an awesome trip! DC was great and the show was incredible and so entertaining from top to bottom. The musicians are so very talented and their passion shows through their performances! Highly recommend attending one of their concerts when you can - they will NOT disappoint!
The most amazing concert ever, what an experience. I love you Andre thank you for being such an amazing person and bring us to much joy.. thank you thank you !!!
