Anderson .Paak in Concert
Presenting the artist in a top hat and plaid boxer shorts as he plays piano in the surf amid a smattering of objects like an old-school record player, the surreal cover image for Anderson .Paak's breakthrough album perfectly suited its wildly inventive contents. Full of witty, unpredictable songs and styles that ranged from ‘60s soul to ‘90s hip-hop to vanguard R&B, ‘Malibu' became one of 2016's most acclaimed albums, establishing its creator as a maverick whose imagination can seem virtually limitless. Along with a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album, the album earned Anderson .Paak another Grammy nod for Best New Artist along with similar acknowledgements at the Soul Train Music Awards and the BET Hip Hop Awards.
All that marked a long journey from Anderson .Paak's first foray into music, which was playing drums in church growing up in Oxnard, California. After coming to Los Angeles, he sought to establish himself as a session musician while creating his own sounds under the moniker Breezy Lovejoy. His fortunes rose when he began working for Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra, the revered L.A. hip-hop duo and production team. His new confidence inspired him to drop his former handle in favor of Anderson .Paak, a stylized version of his real name. The buzz got louder with the release of his wildly diverse debut, ‘Venice' (2014), and his contributions to albums by Dr. Dre and The Game. And while he fully proved his capabilities with ‘Malibu,' it was ‘Yes Lawd!' (2016) by NxWorries – his duo with producer Knxwledge – as well as shows with his band The Free Nationals that confirmed he's just as compelling with close collaborators on hand as when he's pursuing his singular vision.
His third album and first since signing to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, ‘Oxnard' sees Anderson .Paak introduce yet more colors in his palette, beginning with Technicolor textures, carnivalesque soundscape, and his own exuberant flow in "Bubblin'," the album's first single. And with his return to stages with The Free Nationals, Anderson .Paak is ready to make good on his reputation as one of the exciting new talents in hip-hop and R&B.

This concert was my first one and it was the best experience thus far. Anderson .Paak, The Free Nationals, and Honey Paak are all extremely talented and the show was well executed. To make things even better, he happened to walk through our section! A couple of my friends who have been to other concerts told me that this was easily one of the best shows they have ever seen. The surrounding area was beautiful and getting an Uber back home was easy (I wouldn't pay $25 to park there). Our tickets even came with a free CD album. I will definitely be coming back!
I'm over 50 , went to the show with my 20yr. old son. I was pleasantly surprised. Both the venue and crowd were excellent. The opening acts got the us ready for Mr. Paak and he did not disappoint. His stage show was quite amazing, great use of video, smoke and lasers. The raising and lower of he and his drum set was a nice touch. Anderson brought high energy and excitement throughout the entire performance. This young man is a Pro! I dont know what I was more impressed with , his drumming or his lyrical brilliance. I have and will continue to tell everyone who will listen. SEE THIS MAN PREFORM!
This was the best concert I’ve ever been to in my life. I e seen jay z twice Kendrick Beyoncé and more but Anderson paak was amazing and care free. A talented drummer. Chastain park was beautiful
Dude is mega talented and easily transitions from instrument to mic and stage ownership. A great concert and despite the weather, everything ran smoothly and timely. This man works as hard as Mr. James Brown himself😎
The show was excellent Love the live music the band All around cold performance Definitely one of the top show I’ve been to Respect Blessings
From the openers, the venue, the weather, the sound, the energy, the light show, the performance, the staff, best live show I’ve ever experienced.
I Love Anderson Paak his show is always amazing this was the second time that I saw him and I’ll be seeing him again in September when he comes back to Atlanta.
It was absolutely amazing, the music, the vibes, it was good being around people who loves good music, such as Anderson .Paak! I also took my Pops to the concert, I been trying to put him on for awhile! Lol
Perfect in every way. Show was flawless and his voice is amazing live. Go see him!
Anderson Paak killed it!!! The set list was great. Each song was clear and sharp, sound just like the CD. For some reason, Noname thought her singers weren't being heard but they sound amazing. Perfect harmony. Paaks' stage setup was AWESOME! The lighting was on point, he and his drums descended multiple times, the band was placed perfectly. He kept thanking the audience. Get your tickets early, you dont want to miss this show, they'll be talking about it for ever!
He was great! I enjoyed every second of the show. He utilized all of his talents. I would definitely see him again. He's a true performer.
Excellent show, non stop entertainment and one hell of a performer. Very talented and beautiful mix crowd
Can’t wait to see them again. Thundercat was the best!
Great concert in spite of weather challenges! Chastain Ampi is hit or miss with the summer weather. Otherwise, we had a blast!! He rocked that ish!
This dude was on fire from start to finish I recommend anyone of all races and ages go check him out!
Top 3 show I’ve ever been too. Energy was stupid!!!
high enegy, stage setup, sound quality and background singers..all awesome
Noname KILT thangs. So much so that I went and downloaded all I could find. .Paak - That dude there is super talented. For the last 4yrs I thought my people and I were almost the only ones who knew about him. It was great to see the age ranges of people there. I thought for sure I would be the oldest person but I wasnt (by a lot). What made me happy was seeing the mixture of ethnicities all singing along.
Great music, great energy. Anderson.paak is an amazing talent
