About

Anderson .Paak in Concert

Presenting the artist in a top hat and plaid boxer shorts as he plays piano in the surf amid a smattering of objects like an old-school record player, the surreal cover image for Anderson .Paak's breakthrough album perfectly suited its wildly inventive contents. Full of witty, unpredictable songs and styles that ranged from ‘60s soul to ‘90s hip-hop to vanguard R&B, ‘Malibu' became one of 2016's most acclaimed albums, establishing its creator as a maverick whose imagination can seem virtually limitless. Along with a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album, the album earned Anderson .Paak another Grammy nod for Best New Artist along with similar acknowledgements at the Soul Train Music Awards and the BET Hip Hop Awards.

All that marked a long journey from Anderson .Paak's first foray into music, which was playing drums in church growing up in Oxnard, California. After coming to Los Angeles, he sought to establish himself as a session musician while creating his own sounds under the moniker Breezy Lovejoy. His fortunes rose when he began working for Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra, the revered L.A. hip-hop duo and production team. His new confidence inspired him to drop his former handle in favor of Anderson .Paak, a stylized version of his real name. The buzz got louder with the release of his wildly diverse debut, ‘Venice' (2014), and his contributions to albums by Dr. Dre and The Game. And while he fully proved his capabilities with ‘Malibu,' it was ‘Yes Lawd!' (2016) by NxWorries – his duo with producer Knxwledge – as well as shows with his band The Free Nationals that confirmed he's just as compelling with close collaborators on hand as when he's pursuing his singular vision.

His third album and first since signing to Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment, ‘Oxnard' sees Anderson .Paak introduce yet more colors in his palette, beginning with Technicolor textures, carnivalesque soundscape, and his own exuberant flow in "Bubblin'," the album's first single. And with his return to stages with The Free Nationals, Anderson .Paak is ready to make good on his reputation as one of the exciting new talents in hip-hop and R&B.

Anderson .Paak’s show sold out for a reason

by Momo on 6/17/19The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Anderson .Paak and the free nationals put on one hell of a show!! Everyone onstage was so incredibly talented and full of good energy and spunk. I loved the jazzy interludes and solos that were incorporated. My absolute favorite parts were when Andy would go on the drums halfway through a song because it was like an explosion of color to their sound. The venue itself was pretty good as far as sound and space. Also shout out to Mac DeMarco for an amazing opening act. We came late and did not get to see Thundercat but much love to him as well.

by Liam on 6/17/19The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

The venue was fantastic, Anderson and the FN came out and knocked it out of the park. There was fire, fireworks and confetti. It was overall a great music experience and a great way to kick off the summer.

    Best Show Ever!!!

by DJG on 6/16/19The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

The concert was AWESOME!!! Anderson Paak put on an show to remember so no complaints on the artist. The venue is another story. Pros are that it was a line to get into the venue, the workers were very nice anf the bathroom was really clean to my surprise. The Cons were that the seats were too close. Im sorry but i had to move to another seat because i knew i was going to be dancing and i didnt have room to do so. ALSO!!! A tall beer cost 16.99??? I know when i go to the American Airlines Center or any other venue a tall beer is not that price ESPECIALLY for an apple ale beer at that. I think thats is a little overboard. Other than that, a great experience.

Great restaurant and bars surrounding area. Well groomed. Very fitting for a concert Venue. Love the valet parking. It took us 3 min to get back on the high way. Concert was great and seats were good. Sound of the music could have been better but maybe I’ll sit closer next time. Drinks were to expensive and not for cheap liquor venue was clean and well kept
