ANBERLIN IN CONCERT:

Beloved Christian rock outfit Anberlin announced that their 2014 album and tour would be their last, meaning fans have one last chance to see them in action. The band has been a scene mainstay for more than a decade with their anthemic alt rock sound, topping the Christian Albums Chart four consecutive times with taut albums like 2008's New Surrender and 2012's Vital. The band's final album, 2014's Lowborn, will be accompanied by The Final Tour, a decisively titled last hurrah for the veteran rockers.  Seeing Anberlin on their farewell tour may be bittersweet, but it will also be unforgettable -- the band has promised to pull out all the stops, treating fans to career-spanning sets that will include favorites like "Feel Good Drag" and "Impossible".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Anberlin formed in Florida in 2002 from the ashes of Christian punk outfit SaGoh 24/7, a short-lived project started by singer Stephen Christian and bassist Deon Rexroat during high school. After SaGoh failed to gain traction, the band reemerged with a rock sound and a new moniker, making their debut as Anberlin in 2003 with the album Blueprints for the Black Market. Although the release failed to chart, it spawned the popular single "Readyfuels" and led to extensive touring. The band's 2005 sophomore album fared better, landing at No. 5 on the Christian chart and No. 3 on the Heatseekers chart. Their success continued in 2007 with the album Cities, which earned them a major label deal with Universal. Their debut on the imprint -- 2008's New Surrender -- peaked at No. 1 on the Christian chart, a feat the band would repeat with their next three albums including their final album, 2014's Lowborn. Accompanying Lowborn is the bands farewell gesture to fans, a rollicking set of dates on The Final Tour that provides ticket buyers with one last opportunity to see Anberlin before they call it quits for good.

    10th time seeing Anberlin

by Monty on 11/22/22The Observatory - Santa Ana

Have seen Anberlin play at least 10x and they always deliver. Each show is unique but this one was special as they played two albums in full. If one of your favorite bands ever play albums in full, make it a point to go!

    Great Crowds Make Great Nights

by JC on 10/27/22The Observatory - Santa Ana

Watashi Wa opened and played a good set. They had a fun energy, and some nice guitar licks. Acceptance came out strong. Loud guitars with lots of crunch. Great tone, and a solid set. Aaron Sprinkle being there was the icing on the cake. Anberlin was amazing. The crowds energy was great and you could really see the guys enjoyed it. Joey’s leads were a little buried in the mix for my taste. Stephen’s voice sounded tired, but he kept the energy and engagement up, and it never took away from the concert. The venue itself is set up nicely, giving everyone a fantastic view from all angles. Might be a little tight for heavier bands, as the set up would restrict movement, but you can’t beat these sight lines.

    Best live band ever!

by Easy Fo on 10/27/22The Observatory - Santa Ana

I’m from Arizona. I flew out to see Anberlin for the 5th time. They never disappoint. They know how to connect with the audience and their music is meant for a live performance. It was well worth the day trip to see these guys with one of my other favorite bands, Acceptance.

Such a powerful experience. Both bands had a lot of positive energy.

High Energy Performance, Really Bad Sound Quality

by Bryan on 9/25/22Marquis Theater - Denver

Anberlin was super fun to see, but to be honest, it was pretty difficult to enjoy due to the pretty abysmal sound quality. It was my first time at the Marquis Theater so I don't know how they operate, but most songs all you could hear was snare drum and cymbals -- guitar, bass, and especially vocals were almost entirely unrecognizable. I'm not an audiophile, just your average fan... I don't know if the overall sound quality suffered because it was all turned up too high, or if the levels just weren't right, but it was bad. So... thumbs up for Anberlin, I hate to leave a less than stellar review, but the sound really needs to be looked at. My friends brought this up even before I mentioned my own frustration, and then someone we didn't know was also talking about it as we were leaving the show also. Only leaving this review in hopes that it brings the issue to the right person's attention and they can get it sorted out!

The best concert I've ever been to and it's not even close

by Flave on 9/25/22Marquis Theater - Denver

The venue was the best theater for concerts that I've ever seen. Extremely personal. The stage is knee high and small, so if you manage to get to the front, you'll be right on the action. I was literally feet away from my favorite band, Anberlin. It's an experience I will never forget. On two of the nights, on the last song on the encore, they pulled the fans onto the stage to sing along. I left the theater in a daze. 11/10 would visit again. Also the 'Zah was killer breh

    Good band, bad venue

by Mia on 8/8/22Floridian Social Club - St Petersburg

The venue has terrible acoustics. The sound was reverberating off the ceiling and the techs had the main singer mic turned so low you could barely hear him. It’s beautiful inside but will never go to another concert there.

Anberlin is Great! But the sound guy might’ve been out sick?

by No Name on 8/8/22Floridian Social Club - St Petersburg

Anberlin is and was awesome! I do want to point out a huge issue though. It sounded like the drums and guitar were up way louder than the microphone. I could barely hear the words to the songs. The bass guitar seemed to be at an appropriate volume for the vocals. Was slightly disappointed for how much we paid for tickets and not being able to hear the lead singer. The band before Anberlin did not appear to have the same issue- the vocals were loud & clear.

    Great Venue, poor sound check

by ConcertGoer on 8/8/22Floridian Social Club - St Petersburg

Microphone of lead singer was barely turned on which made for a tough performance. Venue is stunning otherwise.

    First time seeing Anberlin

by Pauline on 9/25/21House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

The quieter songs I could hear the vocals which were fantastic. When all the guitars were being played I could not hear the vocals which was very disappointing.

    Great Concert!

by Pama on 9/25/21Bogart's - Cincinnati

Anberlin did most of the songs I wanted to hear, plus a few nice surprises. High energy show, until the encore; they did Feel Good Drag, then played a recording of one of their new songs which was kind of strange. I think people were confused by that, but other than that it was awesome to see them live again!

    Great venue

by Aaron on 9/25/21Mercury Ballroom - Louisville

Sound was amazing, atmosphere was great, tickets were reasonable, but I wasn't prepared to pay 18$ for a 3$ tallboy of PBR. It has been a long time since I've been to a show due to COVID, but seemed to be a bit ridiculous.

    Anberlin is stellar

by Nate B on 9/24/21Mercury Ballroom - Louisville

Anberlin is one of the most authentic, genuine bands I have ever seen. They have poingnant lyrics that have such deep meaning and passion behind them. They are timeless and have such a broad range of sound and production through their discography and within albums. See them if you ever have the chance, you will not be disappointed
