    Didn’t enjoy it

The original storyline was lost and it was unfortunate.

Unfortunately added wokeness to an otherwise great musical

by OutOnTheTown on 5/13/22Pensacola Saenger Theatre - Pensacola

The musical production elements following the original story were great, but the production added wokeness regarding race and gender that really detracts from the story.

    The play was great

by Gary Browning on 5/3/22BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

The only draw back was in the first half the sound was really loud with a high treble sound. The second part of the play was much better sound. Other than that I give the whole experience an A-

    Not great

by California cricket on 5/3/22BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

This musical had everything that would make a good show. Somehow the actors didn’t connect. The story and characters were rushed and under developed. Many of the lines seemed too cliché. The love interests lacked chemistry. I liked the songs, those where very well chosen. I am rarely disappointed with theater, but this time I was.

Great Show But Sound Burdens Performances

by DSM8494 on 5/3/22BJCC Concert Hall - Birmingham

An Officer and a Gentleman was a great show. It's always nice to see something new and fresh in the Birmingham Broadway series. The actors were all great, the show itself is well written, the music is incredible and really takes you back to the '80s for those two hours you are in the theater. However, at the beginning of the Birmingham performance The sound was an issue. The actors microphones were too low to allow them to be heard clearly on the mezzanine and balcony levels. The problem was rectified as the show went on but a problem like that needs to be rectified immediately. I gave the show four stars because of the microphone issues. It might have gotten five if the sound had not been an issue.

    Well worth the wait!

by Bonbon on 3/24/22McAllen Performing Arts Center - McAllen

An Officer & a Gentleman was very entertaining! The 80’s hits, the talented dancers & singers along with the special light effects were well worth the wait. I was accompanied by my mother & my 13 year old son, we all were very happy with the performance! Two thumbs up!!

    Officer and a Gentleman

by DAPAMM on 2/27/22Broome County Forum Theatre - Binghamton

Just a fantastic redo of the movie with changes that made the story more relevant and muli-layered for the characters. The music choices were perfect. The songs supported the story beautifully and the band was incredible. The cast didn't skip a beat- the choreography was conscience to include the rigor of Officer training Candidates while singing...I don't know how they did it. A beautiful story! Don't miss it!!!

    Great show over-the-top mask policy

by DGuyitt on 2/15/22Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Loved the show from start to finish. It included songs that came out prior to the setting along with songs that came out later in the 80's. My only issue was the insistence on the Fisher Theater to send security on mask checks during the performance. The general public by and large has moved on from mask mandates (see sporting events, movie theaters, generally any public setting). I have no problem with establishments trying to look superior by putting these mandates in place like they're trying to save lives but once that charade is complete and people are in their seats stay out of the way so we can watch what we paid to see.

Overall nice light romantic musical. Wonderful sets. Storyline could have been stronger and tighter.

    Great show with great music.

    by K. S. on 2/12/22Fisher Theatre - Detroit

This show was played out with very talented actors! The music is from my generation and the band did an excellent job of playing all of the songs. Kudos to all involved in putting this musical together for our enjoyment!

by JoB on 2/12/22Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Probably the worst musical I have ever seen. Staff at Fisher were great though.

    Don’t go

by CH on 2/12/22Fisher Theatre - Detroit

First of all I went to see Officer & a Gentleman not Black vs white. I’m so sick that everything has to be politically correct. They change the story to shove the black vs white in everyone’s face again . Ya wonder how people get prejudice. Can’t everyone just be the same. Music was the only thing I liked.

    Left at the intermission

by MikeH on 2/12/22Fisher Theatre - Detroit

Left at the intermission - we were very disappointed that the play did not resemble the well-known movie in any way. It was a very athletic performance on behalf of the actors, but the dialogue was difficult to follow and the storyline seemed muddled somehow.
