About

AMERICA IN CONCERT:

Iconic folk rockers America have been performing to sold out crowds since the '70s, treating generations of fans to genre classics like “A Horse With No Name” and “Sister Golden Hair."  Considered a top-shelf  touring act, the band thrilled fans with the announcement of a 2014 coast-to-coast U.S. tour of their greatest hits.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

“The concert was exceptional. The band has not missed a lick in 42 years, which is how long it has taken me to finally see my favorite band.”

“They are just as good as when I first saw them in 1976, and I will continue to see them year after year… Their voices never seem to change, and in addition to all of their popular hits, they sang less popular songs from their albums, which I loved.”

“Played all their big hits and then some, with covers of "California Dreamin" by The Mamas and The Papas and "‘Til I Hear It from You" by the Gin Blossoms—a surprise. They sounded excellent from start to finish.”

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Gerry Beckley, Dewey Burnell and Dan Peek were barely out of high school when they first made a splash in the British folk-rock scene as America. Not only did they score an international hit with “A Horse With No Name,” but they took home the 1972 Grammy for Best New Musical Artist. A string of additional hits would follow, including “Ventura Highway,” “Daisy Jane,” “Tin Man” and “Lonely People.” In 2007, the band surprised fans with Here & Now -- their first album release since 1998's Human Nature -- earning praise from critics and kicking-off another successful tour. In 2011, America once again headed into the studio to record Back Pages, a collection of covers including renditions of songs by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and the Gin Blossoms.

  • Just did not play enough of their great hits

by SAMMY on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 3 out of 5

Overall I would give 3+ out of 5. Vocals were not great. Really enjoyed their hits anyway but there were a lot of songs played I don't think I had ever heard before. Just OK. Always love this venue!

  • Great venue

by HSG on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 4 out of 5

American only played approx 1 hr & 30-40 min. With only 1 encore song.

  • America

by Dave on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 4 out of 5

America played all their hits. Dewey can still sing.

  • Amazing

by Carrie on 3/19/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

I had an absolute amazing time. I am younger than my boyfriend so he knew more than I did but this was absolutely amazing.

  • Disappointed

by Kgriff on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 3 out of 5

The band was good. Only one original performer. The other lead was okay but nothing like the original member. Venue is nice but drinks/snacks are crazy expensive!! We had some very chatty folks sitting behind us and we had to ask security to deal with them..,

  • Excellent concert.

Hadn’t even thought about America in decades but this was an excellent concert. As always, the staff at The Factory was very pleasant and helpful.

  • Captivating Experience

by LifeForce on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Man, really good concert. Played all the hits. Sound was great. Visual effects were fantastic. Really told a story in a way that was so relatable. It was like stepping back in time and reliving history. Very nice mention of Dan who passed in 2011 but never knew Don't Cross The River was his song...one of my favorites. Others were played as well. Overall a wonderful experience and very tightly run concert.

  • Great show!

by Jackson on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Even without Dan Peek, the band sounded great. Musically sound, vocals near perfect!

  • Excellent music, disappointed with view of stage!

by Hazegrey Underway on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Band played all the hits we knew and loved. Seats left a lot to be desired, section 101 row A seats 6 & 7. You would think from the description it would have an unobstructed view of stage, not so. From these seats half the stage is blocked by curtains, I asked one of the attendants if they would be drawn back further, he said no that they were back as far as they went. Will have to say that if you want to see a show at this venue if you sit in sections 101 or 105 you would want to avoid the front rows.

  • Even without…

by EldoniusW on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Have seen America almost 40 times and even though Gerry retired from the road Dewey and the Boys put on a great show, highly enjoyable time. I hope they come back again and to the same venue.

  • Great and nostalgic music

    by ames25 on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Love the venue and it allowed the audience to really hear the excellent performances from the band.

  • Memories

by Jack on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Took me back 55 years to a different time and place. I remember America touring college campuses and got to see them at Southeast Missouri State before they went BIG. Great concert with most of their greatest hits played. Brought back smiles and memories.

  • Well Worth the Price

by Shiner on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Vocals and harmonies were great and instrumentals were exaggerated but good as well. Wish they would have played a few more hits (Three Roses) and no need for 2 non-America tunes even though they played them in their high school years.

  • sorry guys it doesnt work without Gerry

by 70s rocker on 3/19/25The Factory - Saint LouisRating: 2 out of 5

  • Lots of energy & great songs

by JT on 3/19/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

A super fun presentation of the past & revolving music scene. All the favorite songs presented had the audience singing along & cheering loudly. Old & new talent brought lots of energy to the show along with some great guitar!! See it!

  • Fantastic

by Larry n Stephanie on 3/18/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

I took my wife of 40 years to see them. We've been lifelong fans and as it was an anniversary gift, I got to go, and we had an absolute blast! 2nd row center, so we didn't miss a thing. Perfect sound level.

  • Great Concert!

by Bennett on 3/18/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed listening to the musical flashback provided by America.

  • Good show, did all the hits

by Gk on 3/18/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 4 out of 5

Pretty good show, satisfying that they played pretty much every tune I wanted to hear. Sad that Gerry Beckley was absent. The songs he sang were my favorites from the group.

  • not the same

by Docfidi on 3/13/25Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort - Atlantic CityRating: 4 out of 5

I saw them a couple of years ago. This time Gerry wasn’t touring. Dewey was great as always but at times it felt like the vocals weren’t meshing. Other times they were spot on. This was the first stop of the tour so i’m sure they’ll get there. The song selection is fantastic as always.

  • Hoping for a little more

by Brian on 3/12/25The Santander Performing Arts Center - ReadingRating: 4 out of 5

I have been a fan of America since being a teenager and have tried to book seats close to home to see them for years. Finally we found a close place(7hours away) and purchased seats right up front. The music was good. We were unaware that the original band has pretty much been replaced. The tunes sounded the same but definitely not as good as the original;unlike some of the bands touring today which sound just as good or even better. So we were glad to be able to see the band but I noticed my wife on her phone most of the time during the show. I was glad to be finally able to see the group.
