Amber Liu in Concert
A California native, Amber Liu was discovered at the age of 15 at SM Entertainment's global auditions in Los Angeles. Following a move to South Korea, she debuted in 2009 as a member of the female group f(x). The record-breaking electro-pop-based K-pop group quickly became one of the industry's most popular and award-winning. In 2013, the group became the first K-pop act to perform at SXSW, with the New York Times' Jon Pareles calling their performance "impeccable." f(x)'s 2013 album āPink Tape' was called "one of the best Asian pop albums of all-time," by Pitchfork and charted #1 on Billboards K-Pop Hot 100 and World Album charts.In 2015, Amber's first solo release, the critically acclaimed album "Beautiful", debuted at #2 on Billboard's World Albums chart, with the title track's music video, released the same day, garnering more than 1 million YouTube views in its first day of release. She has also made a career on television and film, hosting several variety and travel shows in South Korea, and will star in the American indie film The Eagle and the Albatross in 2020.

I got the ticket for my birthday and it was the best way to spend the day!š Amber is such an amazing performer and person. Every video I watched with her, her personality is the same. I love the beanie that came with the VIP ticket. Next, I will 10000% buy the meet and greet package. I canāt recommend her shows enough!!! If you have the opportunity to go, go!

i am not a full-time amber fan, but i know i like her music based on the things she's done in her previous employment, so when i saw she was coming to town, it was an automatic decision to attend. i was not disappointed on any level. she picked a great selection of songs that highlights her compositional and vocal range, she DANCED for most of them, and she maintained fantastic rapport with both the audience and her supporting talent onstage (both band and backup dancers). i haven't been so enthralled with a live performance since i discovered my favourite band in 2019. if you have an opportunity to watch amber perform live, please take it!!!
This review is specifically for Amber Liu concert and staff for Amber Liuās concert, not the venue itself. I bought two VIP meet and greet tickets for DC. In regards to the meet and greet, the staff was very helpful. Initially, there was some confusion as there were no visible large signs specifically stating VIP etc lines even after arriving at the requested check in time. We relied on other spectators who were in line in front of us for the information they received. The event staff eventually did speak to everyone in line and informed us how to separate. We were handed our special gift from the performer. Security for the artists also addressed us in line and clearly stated expectations for those of us waiting in line to meet Amber Liu. Everyone was cooperative. Since there was maybe about less than 150 VIP, the crowd wasnāt too overwhelming for the early check in for VIP and Meet and greet. Security and staff were very diligent in checking bags. safety first. Also, thankfully no clear bags were required so my opaque purse was allowed. The meet and greet was very quick, but at the same time not like a forced rush interaction with Amber Liu. The line moved fast as a photo was taken. Personally, I was so ecstatic to meet Amber that I forgot to introduce myself. Whoops! She genuinely was super kind and humble in person. Also, her skin is so youthful. She is embracing her 30s, but she still looked like she was in her mid 20s. Itās been lovely to see the artist grow in her music and spread a message of acceptance to others. Honestly, my friend and I arenāt big huggers but we couldnāt resist her gesture to welcome an incoming hug. It was as if she was our younger cool sister and not the famous celebrity she is. I hope she could feel that we supported her very much in her journey both personally and professionally. Her speaking voice and singing voice were attractive, beautiful, and strong. I would have expected some lip synching during her sets because DC was already the 8th stop of her North American tour and I imagine her vocals would be strained. She was definitely live. Her voice control was amazing. Her energy on the stage with jumps and dance moves was 200% . She honestly sounded as good if not better than her songs online. I hope one day she is on the soundtrack for a Disney or Pixar movie if she isnāt already. Her two dancers were so good and natural with their moves. You could see their hard work in the performance. I noticed there were times when the volume of the bandās instruments drowned out her actual singing. It was fortunately only for short bursts and maybe only one song really got drowned out. However, I think that was more a reflection of the venueās acoustics and not her band playing louder than needed. Her fans old and new were super respectful to her and one another. Even just getting out of line to use the bathroom or have someone watch your jacket while you stepped away was not an issue. No one yelled or got upset when the spectator got back into his/her spot. The show started promptly with the opening act. It was about two hours after doors opened for general audience before Amber Liu performed as the main performance. Overall I was very pleased with the meet and greet VIP package and seeing Amber Liu perform live along with her band and dancers.
She was so awesome to talk to and the concert was incredible from start to finish especially the opener Marielle Kraft she was fantastic and Amber she killed it on stage.

I had an absolutely amazing time overall howeverā¦ Iām not sure of this was the necessarily the venues fault or the group but it was EXTREMELY bass boosted half the time. Like to the point it was painful on the ears and the body. Like everyone in my section kept covering their ears, and Iāve been to several shows at Irving plaza. Iāve also seen ambers other 2 shows and it was never a problem before. So I had an amazing time but wow it hurt ššš
This is the second amber concert I've been to. It's always fun to be a part of and having a blast while being your true self in the atmosphere provided. It's a safe space to be whoever you want to be and that's great! This venue was a little smaller than the last one I went to at Terminal 5. With a few exceptions of a few rude guests than my previous experience, I didn't let it bother me... I vibed to my hearts content. Some things could have been done better like the meet and greet photo op, there has to be a way for those guests to get a copy of their photos with amber. The freebie and autographed pass were great momentos of the night. Here's to the next amber liu tour.
Iāve been to multiple Amber concerts, and she consistently gives her all on stage. She really loves her fans and it shows. Five stars to Amber. The venue was great until we went to leave. The merch line blocked the exit for people leaving the balcony and the crowd on the stairs was wall-to-wall. If any one lost balance, there would have been injuries from the domino effect. The venue needs to do more to ensure guest safety.
