This show was amazing. I was spellbound! I could see this show every month for a year and not get enough.
This ballet was exceptional. It was my first time ever seeing a ballet. The skill and artistry behind each performance was extroadinary. I think everyone should take the opportunity to see what Alvin Ailey has to say. It really made me proud not to be just a woman of color, but a person of color. The way that each story was interpreted touched my soul and may me smile with admiration and joy. I loved it.
Excellent show. It started 15 minutes late which was odd and there was no explanation given for the delay. However once under way it was a fantastic show. There are numerous new younger cast members which was somewhat surprising considering past years but what they lacked in years of experience they made up for in talent and enthusiasm. Overall, a fantastic show. I would go again and again!! My one regret is that there were only 3 dances instead of 4. I think a fourth would have put the icing on the cake. Revelations as always was the absolute best. I also missed "Cry" on my night and regretted that as well.
The dancers were awesome! At times the choriogarphy did not seem to challenge enough. Overall, it was great!
Overall the show was very nice. I guess I was expecting more because of the build up of 50 years. The first act, Annoited was awesome! The second act was not as good. The dancers were good, but the music was horrible. In fact the music did not match the performance, which took away from how good the dancers probably were. You couldn't focus on their performace due to being distracted by the terrible music. The final act, Revelations was very good. But the new crop of dancers were not a good as what I have seen in the past and I have been going to the show for the last 20 years.
The show was amazing as always! The show started 15-20 minutes late though. The dancers were very diverse and very talented. The last segment celebrating 50 years of the Revelations Dance Piece was awesome! This is my mother and I 3rd year in a row seeing the show and we are starting to make this a tradition. There is nothing like seeing wonderful, great, and talented dancers as unique as the Alvin Ailey Dance Company!!! Can not wait for next years show!
It was my first time seeing Alvin Ailey dancers. The show was awesome and I would love to see it again!!!!
Great show I now want to see the others that i missed on the other days they performed
As is always the case: fantastic music, wonderful lighting & beautiful, passion-filled dancing. It had been a few years since I'd been back to see the troupe, but the performance was no less amazing as the first time I'd seen. This is a wonderful production.
The show was wonderful and super. Loved every minute of it.
I could go again today! The performance was truly a beautiful experience. I have attended most of their performances for many years. All children should be exposed to this marvelous production. Thank you Judith Jameison for taking over from Alvin Ailey and continuing such great works of art!!
I have been to a few Alvin Ailey productions, this was by far my favorite. The production to you to an almighty high never having you wanting for more... The excitement was never lose.
My unsentimental husband and I went to see the 50th anniversary of Revelations. We were not disappointed. My husband remarked on the architectural nature of "I've been Buked" and the beauty of the pas de deux "Fix Me Jesus." In addition, the Ailey company danced one of Jamison's pieces, "Forgotten Time," one that must have been revolutionary in its own right with a pas de deux danced between two men.
The people in the audience were so annoying. The show was not worth the expensive price for the length of time of the show. I will be spending my money again.
It was great from the beginning to the end. Ms. Jemison is a wonderful choeorgrapher, who will be missed.
Really enjoyed the show. Glad to see they are adding new ballets. The Hunt was amazing!!!
I absolutely Loved the experience! This was my second year attending. Only minor nuisance was the parking I prepaid for was too far for the price I paid. Theater had no programs for show.
My husband and I took our 3 daughters. Its was their first time and they loved it! The twinkle in my 6 yr olds eyes made my heart beat faster.
Intriguing, and amazing. What God given talent. Very well performed.
This was the first time my daughter and I have gone together. We attempted to attend last year and was not able. The choreography is remarkable! It really takes stamina to perform as well as they do! Happy 50th and another Happy 50th to come!
