This dance troupe never ceases to amaze me! Their athleticism on top of their magnificent dancing skills were awe-inspiring. I'd see this group any time they come to Atlanta.
The performances were amazing! I took my daughters, 6 and 18, and they were both entertained. The tribute to Alvin Ailey was great. The only thing that took away from the show for us was the long and frequent intermissions. My six year old who was on the edge of her seat for the first and second acts was less attentive in the later acts because of the lapsed time.
I have been going to see Alvin Ailey for the past five years and this was the only year that I was on the fence the first part of the show was boring I almost fell asleep the old favorites Revelation, Wade in the Water that what made me sit up and pay attention I was very disappointed with the new pieces and mademe think twice about buying tickets for next year
Although we enjoyed the first two sets, I was waiting for the spritual section. My wife and i have attended numerous shows in New York, Washington, and Atlanta but haven't gone in the last 10 years. The first two sets are different, precise and complex. Yes we did enjoy them
Another great season for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. This was my moms first time seeing them and she can't stop talking about it.
It was not for me, the wife liked it though, aside from the woman next to her hogging up the armrest. I bought the tickets for anyway
I wish I could see them at least weekly on TV. The dancers and dances are awesome. It's food for the soul.
As always, the Alvin Ailey performance was outstanding. I would encourage anyone with a love of the arts to attend at least one performance in their lifetime.
I'm not really into dance but my significant other is and has always wanted to see the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater perform. Well I'm not apposed to the arts so I figured I would check it out with her. I was expecting it to be quality and well put together, but had no idea that I would get such a show!! It is truly moving....regardless of what walk of life you are from!
This is my second year going to see Alvin Ailey and I loved every bit of it!!!!!!
This has been the 4th year and the 7th Ailey performance I have attended since 2007. I have always gone twice a year to see the breathtaking performances that are life changing. And this year my standout Atlanta performance has to be Anointed. I really can't wait for the show in Chicago this year. Until Atlanta 2012..."let the rythmn move you."

This show was incredible! As a dancer, I feel that every dancer should see this company perform at least once. They are so solid and strong! I would recommend this show to everyone, especially dancers!
I haven't been in some years and it was just as amazing as I remembered, so glad I went and took my Mother, she really enjoyed herself. The dancers are awesome!!!!!
It was wonderful; I took my niece, who is in a dance company and we both enjoyed every minute.
I am someone who tries to see Alvin Ailey Dance Theater yearly. Usually I see them once in Atlanta and then try to see them again in NYC. I have yet to see them in NYC this year, but the Atlanta show felt "off". I didn't recognize many of the names in the program and maybe that is indicative of several new performers this year or if it was that I went on Friday night as opposed to the usual Saturday or Sunday show when the dancers are comfortable with the venue and the stage, but it seemed that dancers weren't as connected or comfortable with the choreography as they usually are. I didn't know the first 2 pieces of choreography well, so I can't speak to those as well as I can speak to Revelations, the final piece in the show. Revelations is a piece I know well and for the most part none of the dancers seemed quite as lost in the choreography as ones as I've seen in past years. It felt sort of like watching a more intense version of a dress rehearsal. There wasn't the fire and passion that I'm used to feeling from the stage that draws the audience into the finale. Maybe if these same dancers are performing next year the show will feel right again. I look forward to returning next year.
It was a special treat watching the two brief videos of Alvin Ailey and Judith Jamison. I so admire them!
