About

Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Russian parents, Alina Baraz has been around music all her life. With both parents having classical training, she was destined to find her voice through music, citing D'Angelo, Daniel Caeser and Amy Winehouse as some of her major influences. Almost immediately after the release of her first single, "Roses Dipped in Gold" at age 19, Baraz and her family moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career as a singer/songwriter full time.

In 2015, Baraz released her debut project, Urban Flora. The project was a thoughtful exploration of a past relationship, made entirely over the internet with the Danish producer Galimatias. The two artist's partnership began when Baraz sang her lyrics over a Galimatias beat, which would go on to be titled "Drift." The acclaimed project was praised by the Guardian, NPR, Huffington Post, Harpers Bazaar and many more, and sat on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart for over 125 weeks, peaking at #2.

2017 was a career year for Baraz. In January, she released the viral single "Electric" ft. Khalid, which has been streamed over 130M times and counting. The single was followed by an entire EP of remixes, pushing streams around "Electric" to over 157M worldwide. Filling the year with live appearances, Baraz headlined a sold-out US tour in the spring and joined Coldplay as support on their Head Full of Dreams Tour in the fall.

Baraz draws heavy inspiration from color and described the process of her latest project and album prelude The Color of You as a major departure from her artistic comfort zone. Before recording the project, she had never worked with more than one person at a time, let alone in a professional studio. Enlisting Grammy-nominated producer Robin Hannibal (Kendrick Lamar, Calvin Harris, Cee Lo Green) to help produce the project, Alina completely changed her songwriting process throughout the sessions. The project is a timeline of her trying to comprehend a new person entering her life, impacting it as intensely as a color she's never seen before.

    Ethereal VIBES

Expensive early entry ticket for hours in line

by Sabrina on 9/17/23The Observatory - Santa Ana

I waited outside in the hot sun for hours longer than anticipated. The venue blamed the tour, the tour blamed the venue. After waiting for 3 hours longer than we were supposed to, we were finally let into the venue only to get a 5 second meet and greet then stand for 2 more hours in the pit waiting for the show to start. People were so angry, fights were breaking out left and right. The actual show lasted less than an hour because of time constraints caused by a late start.

This is not the way up

    by Ruby on 9/16/23

You are a great singer Alina. But if you want to be big one day, and t think you can and deserve to be, you don’t let your fans waiting 2.5 hours standing up waiting for the concert to start The concert was supposed to start at 7:00, it is almost 9:30 and you are still not up on the stage. Ridiculous and disrespectful. So sad. I wish I didn’t come.

    A dream come true

    by @Mslalabaybee on 4/26/22

VIP experience was amazing. House of Blues tried to deny us seeing her because everyone else was early and finished the meet and greet. But we were within the timeframe. Alina allowed us to come back and it was only 5 of us. It was such a special moment to meet my favorite Artist and give her gifts. She’s a Goddess. And anyone complaining about her singing is not a real fan imo. She was perfect. Definitely recommend VIP to get the best experience💖 I had tix for Part 2 but it got cancelled unfortunately. Cannot wait til she does her own tour again!

    I really love her but…

    by Marilyn on 12/16/21

I love her lyrics and songs but as a performer it’s a simple no. I was definitely disappointed. People in the crowd were literally yelling “LOUDER”. She sings very low. I hope she gets coaching because she could be amazing if she really tries to put her all. Would I go to any of her future concerts? Unfortunately, NO.

    Terrible Logistics

by Tiffany on 12/4/21House of Blues Houston - Houston

When we arrived, there was a line wrapped down all 3 floors. We waited over an hour! When we got close, we were told we could not bring our tiny bags in. There was never any communication prior to the day that we wouldn't be able to bring our bags. I've been to other recent concerts and did not have a problem. My bag was literally just big enough to fit my phone, only, and it was not allowed. Girls were leaving their purses all over the floor and in the trash. Finally, we get in and we missed half the show. Absolutely horrible experience.

    Great Show!

    by M. Miller on 11/30/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

It was a great show. It was short, but great. Because of chaos getting into the venue I missed the opening act; which sucks - because I drove hours for the show. I wouldn’t attend another show at this venue, but will see Alina Baraz again, but only in my city.

    Bad bad bad

by Kitty on 11/27/21The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami Beach

I was sooooo disappointed. This was my first concert in years after the pandemic and as a fan of hers for years now I was so sad to know she lip sings, the set up on stage was very inappropriate and she did not seem sincere at all. I would not go to another one of her concerts again /:

    Vocals too low

by TT on 11/26/21House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Overall good show. Just wish her vocals and mic were louder to hear here. She was about 20 mins late to the stage. Hope to see her improve in the future.

Her vocals were great but performance short. Expected more

by Ash on 11/25/21House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

This was my second seeing her perform. First time was amazing good 2 hour show at the Beachman in Orlando. This however very short although she sound amazing. I will never buy tickets for a show at the house of blues again.

    Great show…vocals too low

    by T. on 11/25/21

Loved the show. Only bad thing was that the background music was too loud over her voice. Was hard to hear her sing. Other than that, wonderful show!!

    Life Changing Experience

by Breezey on 11/25/21House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Preformance was on time, worth every penny. Played majority of the songs i needed to hear. The meet and greet was amazing and she so nice and beautiful. Had a high from the concert for legitimately 2 days. 30/10 would do again!

    Amazing artist, exceptionally talented!

by Britt on 11/24/21House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Loved the performance! Wish the show was longer. Would really love for her to come to the west coast of Florida near Tampa next time. Over all would definitely see her again live. Can’t wait for her to return to Florida!

    Great Concert

by Christopher The Great on 11/24/21Tabernacle - Atlanta

The concert was more than I expected. I wondered how she would pull off visuals, but having stripper poles and a huge screen in the background was just what was needed. Loved the experience!

What a letdown, I’m so disappointed

by Cee on 11/23/21The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami Beach

It was hard to finding out Alina is not a good performer or live singer. I would’ve much rather stayed home and believed that she sounds as realistically angelic as her music than to watch her poorly lip-sync about 90% of the songs while doing some lackluster 2000s r&b talent show arm waves. Maybe she needs a vocal coach, or should be singing her music, in a more intimate setting; acoustically and barebones so as to let her voice shine. But this show… it was like being a 4yr old and finding out Santa is just the old drunk guy putting in the uniform in the JCPenney parking lot. IMO, I would never watch her live like that again. Ever. I honestly don’t believe she’s a trained singer now. Apparently, this poor lip-syncing, no choreography, distractingly-awkward-concert-participation request has been going on for a few years now. It’s hard for me to see past the notion that she might not be a serious singer/artist but just doing it as a hobby.

    Bad timing

by MissMiami on 11/23/21The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami Beach

There were two artists in the line up before Alina Baraz. I thought that could buy some time but the show started super early. I missed big part of the show. Not worth the hour drive

    Love Her

by T on 11/23/21The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami Beach

Rini as the opener, whom i never heard, was amazing. Instruments where way to much for his voice but still killed it. Alina of course was phenomenal and my 2nd show. Only thing is that it was a short concert. Only bad thing.

    Amazing

by Jazzy on 11/23/21The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami Beach

It was a great show. The music was amazing and the venue wasn’t huge where I couldn’t see the artist
