With their 40th anniversary at hand in 2013, legendary country band Alabama embarked on their first tour in more than a decade and released an officially endorsed tribute album titled "Alabama and Friends." The album features current country stars covering some of Alabama's country-rock classics -- including Kenny Chesney on "Lady Down on Love," Jason Aldean on "Tennessee River," Luke Bryan on "Love in the First Degree," and the Eli Young Band on "The Closer You Get" -- along with two new Alabama songs. It was a fitting tribute for the most successful band in country music history, which logged 34 singles that topped Billboard's country singles chart between 1980 and 2011 and has sold more than 75 million albums. The band's core remains the same as when it was founded in 1969, when they were known as Wildcountry: Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass), and another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle). By 1973, the trio had decided to pursue music full time and they signed their first record deal -- and changed their name to The Alabama Band at the label's request -- in 1977. By the '80s, the band had hit its stride, moving huge numbers of concert tickets and filling their trophy cases with multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM awards.

It was a great concert and we really enjoyed the new ampitheater.
Wonderful concert from the HEART! Event was for a great cause and the purpose was at the forefront.
The guys sounded as good as they did 25 years ago! They were simply amazing and played for two hours. The Tuscaloosa Amphitheater is perfect.
The guys are still great entertainers. They play well and love to get the crowd involved.
Alabama is the best! Always has been always will be. I am glad to see them getting back out on the road however I am disappointed that Mark is no longer with them. To me Alabama is Randy, Teddy, Jeff and Mark. Despite Mark's absence it was a great show.
I grew up listening to Alabama, but hadn't really listened to them in years. I went with my family to this concert expecting it to be an OK time, but ended up having a blast! They played all of their hits and sounded just like they did 20 years ago. A bonus was that this was a benefit concert for the Tuscaloosa tornado relief fund so the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra joined in for several songs, including "Raising Alabama" and "Angels Among Us" which was a very emotional and powerful moment. You could really tell that these guys are sincere in their support for the state of Alabama and city of Tuscaloosa. It was definitely one of my favorite concerts.
Thank you, Alabama, for a fabulous night in Tuscaloosa! Your dedication to tornado relief is admirable, and your music has been so very unifying for the state. We're looking forward to upcoming tour dates this year and will definitely be back!
Loved the Tuscaloosa Amphitheatre! The band was amazing & played all their classics. I was pleasantly impressed with everything!
The concert was so much fun. Alabama played all their greatest hits! Had a great time & would definitely see them again at this venue - fantastic experience!
Great to see one of the best all time country bands back out on the road! The show was 90 minutes long & included many of Alabama's biggest hits! Then again, when you have 40+ #1s', there is no way you can do them all! The set also included some 'curious' selections...'Christmas in Dixie', 'I saw the light', etc... Missing for the original 4some is the original drummer, Mark Herndon. Alabama is now backed by 6 studio musicians, many from Teddy Gentry's other band project "Rocket City", including Shawn Fichter (who has played with the likes of Peter Frampton & Trisha Yearwood), who replaces Mark Herndon on drums. If you were a fan of Alabama in the 80's, you will find a much different vibe on-stage on this current tour. The days of Randy Owen yelling & jumping are over, along with the hard-hitting drumming & slick production work. This tour is more of a 'back to basics' approach, with everything more low-key than in the past, which also included plenty of wrong notes ♫. All-in-all, it was a great evening filled with great music!
It was awesome to see Alabama again in concert. It has been a hard 7 years waiting for them to return.
By far the best concert that I have ever been to. The crowd was incredibly into it and knew all the words to their songs. They played their #1 hits and would have had to play another two hours to include them all. Love that the money went to the Tuscaloosa Relief fund. 2 thumbs up to Alabama!
The group Alabama sang their hearts out for tornado relief in Tuscaloosa. They reunited for this full concert of over 30 songs, all their favorites and the fans too.
Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The group has not missed a beat in the 7 yrs.of not touring together.
It was just a blessing to get to see AlabamA in concert again after some 20 years. I saw them the last time they were in Tuscaloosa at Bama Blast in 1983 and this was so much better. Perhaps it was because my seats this time were only a few rows back and last time I was just somewhere in Bryant-Denney stadium. They played all my favorite songs. Their harmonies were perfect as ever. Except for the heat, they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Randy Owen mentioned the storm survivors and rebuilding Tuscaloosa many times throughout the performance. It was a rare coming together of fans and band, and I will never forget it!
The fact that ALL tickets sold out within 15 minutes says it all!! ALABAMA is still at the very top of their game, can still pack the venues, and can still give the concert of a lifetime... each and EVERY time!! And the fact that they are the greatest humanitarians says quite a bit extra... They were raised in Alabama, still live here, were as touched by the April tornadoes as everyone in the state, and have committed themselves selflessly to helping the state recover and rebuild. I'm so proud to have been a huge fan for so many years, and proud of them every day~ The concert itself.... Absolutely not to be missed!!! The boys of the band played for almost 2 hours, going from incredible hit to incredible hit, taking time occasionally to challenge the audience to help someone every day and we can all get through this together! They had the ENTIRE sold out crowd on their feet and singing every word to every song! They have always been the most talented, greatest entertainers and they continue that streak flawlessly, right where they left off 7 years ago. You'd never know there was a break..
Nothing much to say other than great. Played most of the songs you know plus a few special things for this event. Sound as good as ever. Still look like their having fun even though they're retired and considerably up in years for a music act.
AWESOME SHOW!!! They are still fantastic, maybe even better than ever.
Alabama was just as good as they were when I first saw them 29 years ago. Amazing show.
Crowd pleaser but didn't enjoy opening act. Loved the orchestra in closing songs.
