With their 40th anniversary at hand in 2013, legendary country band Alabama embarked on their first tour in more than a decade and released an officially endorsed tribute album titled "Alabama and Friends." The album features current country stars covering some of Alabama's country-rock classics -- including Kenny Chesney on "Lady Down on Love," Jason Aldean on "Tennessee River," Luke Bryan on "Love in the First Degree," and the Eli Young Band on "The Closer You Get" -- along with two new Alabama songs. It was a fitting tribute for the most successful band in country music history, which logged 34 singles that topped Billboard's country singles chart between 1980 and 2011 and has sold more than 75 million albums. The band's core remains the same as when it was founded in 1969, when they were known as Wildcountry: Randy Owen (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), his cousin Teddy Gentry (bass), and another cousin, Jeff Cook (lead guitar, keyboards, fiddle). By 1973, the trio had decided to pursue music full time and they signed their first record deal -- and changed their name to The Alabama Band at the label's request -- in 1977. By the '80s, the band had hit its stride, moving huge numbers of concert tickets and filling their trophy cases with multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM awards.
Still my all time favorite band. After all these years. They can still put on an excellent show!
Alabama did not disappoint. I just regret waiting all this time to see them perform.
Randy Owens gave it his all and he definitely gets credit for getting on stage and entertaining. The instrumentals were great. I would go see Alabama again if they were in town. Just so nostalgic!
Two hours of the intimate, but fantastic, show was the best birthday gift I could ever have. We won’t forget this show for a very long time. Way to go Alabama and your band!!!
Great show would definitely go see them again! The hey weee on my bucket list of shows I've wanted to see , missed them last time they were in south Florida
We had a great experience at the concert! Staff was very friendly and helpful and the performance was great.
This was a last minute decision, and what a good decision. Despite their ages, they put on a terrific performance. Meghan is a great addition to the band. No one fiddles like she. I am going to go see them again in August.
I loved their concert. I especially enjoyed Megan’s smoking’ hot fiddle playing. My only complaint was that they repeated a couple of songs. Wish they would have played more of their hits instead of repeating. Loved Randy’s little anecdotes too. The guy on keyboard was amazing too
Although Alabama lead singer Randy Owen may still have the desire to perform…he should stop. At “74” years old , age has taken its toll on his ability to perform.
It was a great show and Randy showed himself as a really "nice"guy. Enjoyed it immensely.
It was a rate find to see Alabama playing at the Hard Rock Casino. We were looking for an evening activity in Fort Lauderdale and stumbled across this event. We were able to see Alabama for less than 90 dollars for both of us. The Hard Rock Casina was easy parking. The venue was a bit challenging to find once inside the casino but other than that is was a perfect experience. We have no complaints at all and will definitely do this again when we visit Fort Lauderdale.
We saw Alabama live at the hard rock live theater in Hollywood Florida. The show was one. I will never forget as Alabama was the first band. My husband and I saw it together when we were dating nearly 40 years ago. The two original singers did an awesome job considering they are both in their 70s and have had ailments Through the years, but I respected them so much for wanting to be there and for doing their absolute best to entertain their fans! The theater was intimate enough that Randy felt he could tell stories from their past, and help us to have more insight into Alabama through the years which Was priceless!
Alabama was a great show. Even though the main guys are getting older their voices were great as usual.
Alabama has never put on a disappointing performance. My all time favorite band.
I thought the show was great! I would not pick those seats again. Wish I had picked center of the row so we could see the stage better including the screen which was displaying videos while the band played
Obviously the band is getting older, much older. However, you still got to hear some of there greatest hits and they still played them rather well. It was by no means perfect, I would say it was an 8.5/10 experience. The band still tried hard to entertain, the effort was there, they are just getting older plain and simple. For Alabama fans, I would encourage you to go and hear the hits similar to the way you remembered them. The lady, I believe her name is Megan, who played the fiddle was outstanding.
Great venue, get there early and stay late to avoid the parking egress fiasco. We were upgraded to a much better section, can't say enough about that! Alabama did not disappoint, there are still strumin' and fiddlin' like the old days.
Alabama was very good, talented and an awesome evening. Hard Rock was perfect venue!
The venue at Hard Rock Live is incredible. Sound, lights, acoustics, even the concession stands! Been a fan of Alabama since the early 80's and they did not disappoint. Randy still has the pipes to give you the sounds you expect. Wish more shows were this tight and well planned. Hats off to the entire crew!
The music was great but the seats made us miserable 😖 We were on an upper level first row and the rail that was there was so close to the seat you couldn't move your legs, I am short and was miserable my husband 6'2"knees were under his chin. He kept having to bother the people next to us going in and out so we could relieve our legs. I probably won't attend anything else at the Propst Arena!!!!
