About

Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”

Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.

After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

  • Awesome Venue and Show

    by JB96 on 11/26/22Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

AFI always puts on a great show. Was cool to see them at the Fox. First time going up to the Mezzanine. Beautiful architecture up there, like the Warfield but better. Would go again for sure.

First AFI concert I’ve been to just to give little 8 year old me to experience seeing them perform live. It was phenomenal!! Loved the setlist and a part of my inner child is healed! <3

AFI has always been a great band to see; live, and definitely didn't disappoint. Davey Havok was/is Amazing. The pit was fantastic and everyone had a great time at show.

  • Fair bordering on good

by Old Punk in the back on 11/23/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

The opening band sound wise eluded me. The first song sounded like a mix between Duran Duran's Hungry Like a Wolf and something from Depeche Mode. Not bad I like both, but it went downhill from there. The rest of the set was a mix of way too much synth, over processed guitar and vocals I couldn't hear. Zero energy on the stage. The robots at Chuckie Cheese have more energy and character. As far as AFI goes, I was surprised at such a short set. It ran about an hour on the dot. The set list was good and I'll give credit to both AFI and the Sound Guys at the Filmore. The house sound sounded great. Ending the set with Rise of the Phoenix is a good touch, it sends the crowd off on a high note. Had AFI's set been 90 minutes I could easily overlook an opening band that made no sense, but a show that lasts 2 hours and 15min start to finish is a letdown hence the 3 star review.

  • AFI was incredible the Filmore sucks

    by Pixie_punk on 11/23/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

Why only 3 stars? This was my first and possibly last time going to the Filmore. The sound set up was terrible. Could barely hear vocals for the opening group, Drab Majesty. The balance was slightly better for AFI but not really. Over priced drinks in a place that felt like a HardRock Cafe themed bar. Not my Vibe. Parking for this venue is the worst. If you get anxiety looking for parking this will wreck you. Really happy i got to see AFI and Drab Majesty, finally. They both put on incredible performances even with the horrid sound in that place.

  • So much fun and high energy

by Danno on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

AFI came out ready to take us on a fun filled adventure with their music. All smiles and high energy. Lots of jumping around, dancing, and a safe mosh pit. So much fun and satisfying. Would definitely see these guys again if they play this venue.

  • One in a life time

by Angelynn on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

All staff were very informational and welcoming. Band members hosted a fantastic show!!

  • Wow.

by Miss Anne Thrope on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 2 out of 5

The band, AFI and their opener were fantastic. Professional, on point. 10/10. The venue on the otherhand.... So many of the patrons were beyond intoxicated. Many puked on the floor. People were falling over, sitting on the floor and falling into other guests. Not a few, way too many. The Filmore's goal is not for everyone to have a great concert experience. They will let anyone in, sideways drunk, high on drugs, as long as they'll buy a $16 Truly or 2 before they start throwing fists. There were at least 3 drunken fights, guys grabbing women's breasts, and a fight that literally stopped the show in the first few songs of the headliner. Absurd. I will never go to the Filmore again, this was my first time and this is their reputation. A block a way is a cleaner, more upright venue that I'd recommend over this one any day of the week, regardless of who was playing.

  • AFI slays every time

by MD on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

If you have never seen AFI live and want to they are a band you don't want to sleep on the opportunity. Every time I have seen them since 2010 and each time there's a few years inbetween they put in their all in every setting from special guest, festival and headlining. Their roots from a punk band come out and they play a bit of everything and its never the same set at every show. This time I got to see one of my favorites live that I haven't ever seen in person and it was beautiful. They are a band that will stop the show on the account of safety, which I'm glad that they do and more bands need to do that. The energy is incredible and how long they've been around and still do what they do is amazing. Absolutely love this band, always have and always will.

  • Worst opening act ever! AFI was great.

by Jonny on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

AFI put on a great show. That being said Cold Cave is the worst thing i have been subjected to at a show. This left allot of fans wondering what AFI is coming too. Everytime i purchase tickets to an AFI show i wonder if this will be the last one i care to see because of the direction they seem to be going.

  • Drab opening

by Joey B on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 4 out of 5

The two douches on the staage that couldn't sing openly reveal themselves under the pseudonym Drab Majesty. Fitting for a group so depressing that my click of seven divided equally as any odd number can with males & females ranging in ages all felt the need to blow their brains out during the opening performance. Perhaps they'd be better suited to open for Blaq Audio, but not a rock concert. It felt as if we were being punished for purchasing our tickets sometimes wondering if we were in the right place. AFI please don't do this to your fans anymore. Otherwise a great show! I had a blast! Good set.

  • Not enough AFI

by Jenn on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

AFI was great and always sound amazing live. This concert only disappointed because they were not out there long enough. About 7 songs and over. Lights came in at 10:30pm and show was over. I’m not sure if it was a venue or the act.

  • Best show of the year.

by Jacinda on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

AFI was incredible. I was dancing and enjoying the whole night. The opener was really cool too.

  • Fantastic show

by AJ on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

AFI puts on the best shows. Tons of heart and great connection to the crowd. The only downside of the night was one or two people fighting in the crowd. Not the band's fault but something that brought it down a little.

  • Best show ever

by sarah on 11/21/22Fillmore Auditorium (Denver) - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Every time I see AFI live it’s like a reglious experience. No other band compares to the energy and excitement that AFI provides every time.

  • Blown Away

by Pierre on 11/20/22Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It's rare when a show remains consistently awesome throughout the whole set but that's exactly what happened. AFI totally blew me away, unreal show

  • Best concert 2022 !!!

by Velly on 11/19/22Fillmore Minneapolis - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

It wasn't stuffy the stage was in my view, plus the vocals were on point. Clean area, there was no fighting in venue , it was a good atmosphere. I would attend another concert at this venue. I had no problems with my digital ticket at all and it was easy having a digital ticket. It was an amazing night and I would do it all over again!!!! Plus I love AFI!!!

  • This show was amazing. Super sick!

Philly and NYC shows were excellent. Great setlist spanning various eras- even gave us some '97 goodness. Crowd fun, kind and passionate as always. AFI and DF forever!
