Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”
Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.
After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

I wanna see them again. I loved their energy. I loved his emotional expressions. I loved it all. Especially the guitarists
I loved how the concert was like an adult sing-along. Being surrounded by a packed-out room full of people who love the same songs that you do, and singing along with them, is like having an out of body experience. Davey always brings so much energy to the stage and to the room. I just wish the venue was a little larger.
From ordering ticketd to getting updates to rhe day of concert. Everything was awesome and smooth sailings. I recommend seeing bands at house of blues. Just be prepared to stand and no be shoulder to shoulder wuth people. If you can see AFI. Do it!!! Amazing
AFI as always puts on a great show. We were the final date of the tour and the energy level was off the charts! The setlist was amazing. They definitely appreciate the fans! Make sure to catch them next tour!
Great show, great venue. Good to see thes guys again.
Best band ever! They always bring the energy. I was bruised and had no voice by the end, but it was so worth it.
I love AFi . They are amazing, though I feel the set could have been longer . I thought the wait time outside was a little long pres show and the drinks were expensive, but overall it was a good experience.
In their penultimate night of the Bodies tour, AFI delivered one of their most electric performances to date!
AFI always give the best performance, my trifecta for seeing them. Had an awesome experience, but the prices for drinks at Buckhead Theatre are a bit outrageous. Other than that I wouldn't change a thing
Easy ticket access, easy parking, excellent show AFI rocks and would see them again at Buckhead Theater. Great experience.
I’ve love AFI since I was a wee babe , and this was the first show I’ve ever attended ! I’ve waited so long to see them , 20 years !!!! It being my first ever show , they definitely didn’t let me down . They blew my mind ! Great performance , amazing crowd , getting interactions from AFI themselves was top notch !!
It was really amazing the performance, I never seen them in live and every song they sang was perfect.
These guys are amazing! Ive seen them 3 times and they have yet to disappoint. Will definitely go see them again when they come. Highly recommended! 100 out of 10
AFI was great! So fun. Loved them. I do wish the staff at the venue paid more attention to the disabled people at the top who couldn’t see when people in front of them stood up. If people want to stand they should go down front. Also the opening band was terrible. Sound was way off.
This was the perfect venue for afi to play in my opinion: the chandeliers really added to the vibe. I loved how they set up their merch lines and the organization of their bars.
You will think about the show everyday for the rest of your week! Such a wonderful show, rock, punk, melodies..
AFI always puts on a great show but Ticketmaster is always a terrible experience.
I was taken back by the line to get into GA. The line for the older crowd was short and filled with ticket scans with cell phones that seemed to be malfunctioning. The GA gang flashed their wristbands and moved fairly quickly. By the time we got pass the metal detectors the GA ticket holders where on the way to stake out their positions on the floor. We make our way to the merch tables that had a one-way entrance that was not clearly marked causing confusing and people uttering words under their breath. This venue is a cashless venue. Bring a card and if the merch tables are on the left of you apon entering, stay to the left to enter the mech line. The prices have increased for merch and the quality of the items seem thinner and thinner. I'm speaking in general, and not of this band directly. Pricing for drinks is what's to be expected. Please tip the merch and beverage staff as they are not making much and are here to serve you. Show your appreciation and hit one of the tip buttons on the screen. Made are way to the mezzanine level. We made our way up the ramp and to the left we climbed the stairs to our seats. Turning around and seeing this amazing theater is always a sight to behold. The preperformance of a concert is entertaining as you scan the surrounding and the people within it. The floor had filled quickly by the GA crowd and small veins were clear to see running between the different groupings. The seats below us seemed strangely empty with the start time coming up. The lights dimmed and the music began in a wonderful way. Two musicians stepped out and roared into a moving mesmerizing manner filled with sonic keyboards, accented with perfectly timed guitar playing to lifting the soul with the sounds coming from the stage. The mix was a bit muddy and the volume a bit high for the music being performed. They layer of the music, which I'm sure someone spent many a day getting right was lost in the sheer boldness of volume. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. The lights and fog were heavy on the right side of the stage and the guitarist was obscured by clouds most of the time. Not being familiar with the band as were the two I was with; it may have something to do with who is Drab Majesty. I would describe them as Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls gone prog. After their performance I visited the facilities. They were clean and well kept. I stopped back by the beverage concession to hydrate before AFI took the stage. Having found a different rout one level higher to my seat made it clearly visible that veins in the GA floor groupings had changed. They had now tightened and the position of members of each group found their spot to stand their ground. The house lights went down as the band took to the stage. The decibels from the audience were instant and insanely load for the small sampling of humans. The band blazed starting with “Strength Through Wounding”. Lead singer Davey Havok got the GA crowds really up and shouting “Through our bleeding, we are one” with arms flailing and fist pumping the view from my seat was inspirational. This was the first song, and it was an elevator ride that ended far too soon. They gave props to the East Bay and those who helped them get to the lofty height's they now enjoy. There were a few humorous moments that hopefully make their way to social media. That would be the best way to be presented than me trying to draw a picture here. There mix was muddy as they played a great set mix of new and old songs. I left happy and smelling the vapers of hot dogs and brats filling the air from the sidewalk vendors just outside this beautiful theatre. Great show and thank you to Oakland Fox Theatre for providing great acts to see at this venue.
AFI puts on a great performance full of energy. The lead singer still has a great voice. Highly recommend.
Drab Majesty opened and AFI played their greatest hits. AFI had excellent stage presence and Davey talked to the crowd a lot.
