Extreme alt-rock outfit AFI, short for A Fire Inside, continue to keep their punk rock spirit alive after more than two decades together. The four-piece California band, impressively composed of the same lineup since 1998, has revitalized hardcore punk ever since their 1991 beginning, though the crew didn’t see mainstream success until their 2003 platinum-selling “Sing the Sorrow.”
Since that time, AFI has satiated ticket holders at amped up concerts nationwide, either on their own headlining runs or as part of the Vans Warped Tour on several occasions.
After a four-year recording hiatus, AFI unveiled its ninth studio set, “Burials,” in October 2013. The collection, produced by Gil Norton (Foo Fighters, Jimmy Eat World), peaked at No. 9 on The Billboard 200. Some tracks on the Republic Records release (“17 Crimes” and “I Hope You Suffer” for example) lean more toward hard rock than horror punk or goth-punk, both labels AFI’s received with past work.

Seeing one of my favorite bands in one of my favorite local venues---- heaven. AFI has ways put on a good show- they sounded especially great this time. Davey's voice sounded especially strong. Sound quality was spot on - Musicianship top notch
AFI shows are always great, but this was the best I've seen from them in 15 years or so. Such an amazing night!
Just a phenomenal show. The energy, and the performance was amazing. Im so happy I made it out to this show. AFI forever
This was my first time being at this venue. I loved how big, yet intimate it was to see AFI. They brought their energy, and it was by far the best performance I’ve seen of them. Davey’s energy was fast & fun. The new music played live was amazing, and the acoustics of the venue helped. I enjoyed the mixture of old songs, and the deeply old classics from their first few albums was a sweet surprise. After “The Leaving Song Pt. I” and how everyone sang in unison to perfection, alotted the fans an extra song added to the set. Amazing. Will definitely come to this venue in the future.
I've seen AFI live twice now and I can confidently say that these were some of the best concerts I've ever been to. I felt energized and pumped up the moment they came on stage. The opening band was really fun too I love learning new bands through concerts. I was practically screaming out song lyrics with Davey from the crowd. I had such an amazing time. There was even a brief encore. All in all if there is ever a chance to see this band live I will make it happen one way or another.
I saw AFI for the first time last night at the Fox Theater (it was also my first time being at that venue) and I had so much fun! They had a good mix of songs from all their albums and the energy was always there! Davey was an awesome frontman, but all the guys shown during that show. They brought so much energy and life to the whole performance. I’d love to see them again if given the chance. The venue was gorgeous and even with balcony seating it still felt like an intimate show.
One of the best concerts I have been to in my life! The sound was perfect, AFI and TR/ST killed it, and people were engaged even in the rafters. Thank you for an amazing experience!
The concert it self was beyond phenomenal. I wish it could have gone on much longer but I digress that's not how these things work. However aside from some things out of anyone's control (pot smokers in line and line jumpers) the only 2 negative things I could comment on were 1) the scanning a QR code for the merch line (yeah, it seems streamline but without a cap on party size a group of 10 people went before my party of 2. Make it make sense). 2) TR/ST you need a flashing light warning for those who maybe epileptic in attendance who've never seen your show before. I don't suffer from epilepsy but damn guys, I got super nauseous halfway through the first song. Other than those two things everything was amazing.
To be able to see AFI on Halloween at the Fillmore in Denver CO was spectacular and amazing. The Fillmore is a GREAT place to see a band. AFI never disappoints and we always try to see them whenever they are in town. Thanks AFI and The Fillmore for a great evening.
