Ace Frehley Live in Concert

Born Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley in Bronx, New York, Ace Frehley started playing the guitar at 13. He never went to a music school, nor did he ever take a guitar lesson since every member of his family played instruments. He spent the early '70s in a series of local bands. In 1973, he co-founded the American rock band KISS. He departed the band in 1982 and went on to lead a successful solo career. His 1978 solo output -- KISS: Ace Frehley (released as part of the KISS solo albums) -- went platinum. In 1984, he assembled, amongst others, drummer Anton Fig and bassist John Regan to form a group with a name that alternated between Ace Frehley and Frehley's Comet. This group recorded a series of demos throughout 1984 and 1985, and performed their first-ever live show at S.I.R. Studios in New York City on November 30, 1984. In 1987 he released Frehley's Comet and it charted on the Billboard 200. He subsequently returned to KISS in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. In 2004, he tied with Paul Stanley at No. 14 on Guitar World's list of the 100 Greatests Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time. Frehley's influences include artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Albert Lee, among others. In 2014, Frehley, along with the original members of KISS, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His 2020 solo album Origins, Vol. 2, charted on the Billboard 200.

Fantastic show, perfect mix of new songs and old songs including many KISS classics... Killer band. At this show while doing his solo Ace was running back and forth on a dark stage, with sunglasses on and only one spotlight on his face... He accidentally fell down a side stage stairway on his back while doing his solo. It was frightening, but he got up and finished his set AND came back and did a killer encore. I heard from a mutual friend he went to the hospital after. This guy gives 100%, I would go any time he is in town.

  • Ace was an "ACE" !

by EWULTD on 10/27/11B.B. King Blues Club and Grill - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Ace Frehley put on an excellent show, "aced it", you might say. It also helped a great deal that I was right at the stage, so I'm no more than 20 feet from him. His band were pumped up too. Best part of the show was not only playing New York Groove, but his guitar solo with the smokin' guitar theatrics. Being so close to stage, I have quite a few awesome and upclose pictures, and great videos as well. Jef

What a great concert!! Ace Rocked it like he always does!!! BB King i noticed hasn't had the best of reviews...and after experiencing this myself i'm a little taken back. I would suggest going there for sure, i'll go back again. The bathrooms were clean, orderly, the waitstaff was more than helpful and quick. The food looked and smelled great but we didn't eat. We ate before getting there! Again, ACE FREHLEY ROCKED. The BITERS ROCKED and i WILL go there again.!

Ace was on time and rocked the house! I have seen KISS more than 30 times - live.......ACE and his band of kick ass rockers play KISS songs better that KISS! No lasers, no smoke machine. no fancy video screens.....just true rock and roll. Keep rockin - spaceman!

  • Ace is back !

by Reverevd on 3/25/10Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Ace Frehley is back and is king! I think Ace played better than I ever saw, from Kiss days to present. I heard Ace was taking a more sober path and it shows in his playing! It was my first visit to the Nokia Theatre and was equally impressed. Beautiful venue. Pricey with liquor as to be expected in Times Square, but ample bars with short lines made it all worth while. Looking forward to another show there.

  • Simply awesome!

I would MUCH rather see Ace solo than to see KISS now with those two jokers in Ace, and Peters makeup. His playing was better than ever, and his setlist kicked ass! He opened up with Rocket Ride...nuff said!

by jimmymos on 3/24/10Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent to say the least. Ace was never a let down ever! Well worth the time and effort to go to the show. I will continue to see him on tour in my area. As far as I'm concerned , him & Peter Criss were the heart of Kiss!

  • ACE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by VITALITY69 on 3/24/10House of Blues Atlantic City - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

The opening band SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!! The 2nd band was pretty good. They were all instrumental which I do like, but not for an entire show. Yet they were very good. Ace was incredible. It was so loud; one of the loudest concerts I have ever been to. All the songs sounded... incredible sound wise. Everything for the most part could be heard distinctively (drums, bass, guitars, vocals). The only problem I saw, as sure as everyone else saw too, was when Ace went into a solo his level wasn't cranked up like he wanted it to be. Guess technical/equipment problems, the soundman would wait till Ace started his solo then run back and crank his level up. When Ace went into his solo it was searing. I loved it. That was the only problem He had and it wasn't that big a deal. All the material he played was great. I like his solo stuff new & old. The KISS stuff ruled. The older KISS songs sounded so much heavier when he played them live. I was highly impressed. Hearing Snowblind, Shock Me, & Strange Ways was truly a treat along with all the other classics. I already can't wait to see Ace play again. The band that he has with him are all top notch performers. Great playing and singing. Ace was definitely one of the best shows that I have seen this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See More

  • Ace is back...and I TOLD YA SO!

by Lain74 on 3/23/10Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Simply AWESOME. Ace looks and sounds fantastic. The fans were pumped. Nokia is a really great venue. I prefer a more intimate setting. The set list was top notch. Really enjoyed the opening band too! Put me right back in the New York Groove!

  • ACE ROCKED!

by JohnnyRockster on 3/23/10Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Ace was at his best! Sobriety suits him well. He played most of his best, at his best and with a solid supporting cast. The set list included classic Kiss tunes (Including: Parasite, Love Gun, Shout it Out Loud, Cold Gin, Strange Ways, Rocket Ride, Shock Me and Talk to Me) and his solo songs (Including:Speeding back to My Baby, Snow Blind, New York Groove, Rip it Out, Rock Soldiers, and Pain in the Neck . If you haven't seen Ace latley make it a point to catch one of his shows. You will not be dissapointed. Oh Yeah, the warm up band was solid too.

  • Ace still got it!

by sandybr on 3/23/10Nokia Theatre Times Square - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Ace is still the best guitar player in the world! Nobody can beat him! The songs he played bought me back 80s.
