Ace Frehley Live in Concert

Born Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley in Bronx, New York, Ace Frehley started playing the guitar at 13. He never went to a music school, nor did he ever take a guitar lesson since every member of his family played instruments. He spent the early '70s in a series of local bands. In 1973, he co-founded the American rock band KISS. He departed the band in 1982 and went on to lead a successful solo career. His 1978 solo output -- KISS: Ace Frehley (released as part of the KISS solo albums) -- went platinum. In 1984, he assembled, amongst others, drummer Anton Fig and bassist John Regan to form a group with a name that alternated between Ace Frehley and Frehley's Comet. This group recorded a series of demos throughout 1984 and 1985, and performed their first-ever live show at S.I.R. Studios in New York City on November 30, 1984. In 1987 he released Frehley's Comet and it charted on the Billboard 200. He subsequently returned to KISS in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. In 2004, he tied with Paul Stanley at No. 14 on Guitar World's list of the 100 Greatests Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time. Frehley's influences include artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Albert Lee, among others. In 2014, Frehley, along with the original members of KISS, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His 2020 solo album Origins, Vol. 2, charted on the Billboard 200.

    by COOP69 on 11/16/14State Theatre - New BrunswickRating: 4 out of 5

The show was very good for the first night. After working out the sound issues during the first few songs,it was great. The band was really rocking and having fun. A great show for the price . Go see the space ace.

  • Ace was cut short

    by Hartford13 on 9/4/12Pennysaver Amphitheater - FarmingvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Craving Strange was the opening band and I really enjoyed them. I will go see them again. The second and third bands were cover bands that I could go to bar to see. Warrant and Zebra were excellent. Due to the late start and 11 pm curfew, Ace Frehley set was cut short. Ace was the headliner cut out the cover bands. The 10 songs Ace did were excellent. The venue is run poorly. No ushers or event personnel only security. No usher to check seats or keep people from standing in front of you when you have the front row seats.

  • Ace!

by BrianE111 on 7/16/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was Awesome. Ace was great. I brought my 14 year old son and he was amazed. Other than the one lunatic who was obviously high on something fighting everybody including women for picks and standing space, the experience was flawless!

  • Ace is better than ever

by WestchesterKB on 7/15/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I could not believe how good ace played and looked. Talk about an individual making the most of his time as a musician. His playing was tight as he played songs note for note. if you are a fan of Ace or Kiss you will be delighted to see the songs played exactly how you remember and love them. The best part was he played for 2 straight hours, You just don't get that very much anymore.

  • Ace Frehley Was Too Loud

by Fran147 on 7/15/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 3 out of 5

It was so loud you couldn't here him sing and there was a vibration from the instruments. We sat in the seats in the back. Couldn't imagine if I was closer. I go to concerts all the time. It's not that I'm not used to it.

  • Ace is better than ever!

by MickDee on 7/14/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Ace played a great set of songs and played for almost 2 hours. The musicians in his band were superb. Was pleasantly surprised at the number of KISS songs that he played. I think he played songs from the first 7 KISS studio albums. Only negatives were that the opening band Cashmier was terrible and the wait between the acts was almost 55 minutes. This show had a surprise. Guest drummer Anton Fig from the David Letterman Show and guest guitarist Ritchie Scarlet came onstage to play Foxy Lady with Ace. The Best Buy Theater is a great venue.

  • Welcome Back Ace

by curly529 on 7/14/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Welcome back Ace, this was the first time that I have seen Ace live except for seeing him in Kiss. Anyway Ace was in top form, his band was great, the new drummer adds so much to their sound, and even sounds like Paul when he sings. He played a solid two hour set, with all his hits, and tons of Kiss classics. How can you go wrong for $30.00 a ticket and a two hour show, and a great time. Nowaday's you have to spend almost $100.00 to see any well known rock act, so this Ace show was well worth the money.

Ace Frehley and his band were great from start to finish. It was well worth the 3.5 hour drive to the city.

Excellent show. A must see when it's in your area. Sound was awesome after the first song. A good mix of original and Kiss songs.

Ace Frehley once again brought the goods. Perhaps the best performance I have seen from anyone or, any band in several years. A Big THANK YOU to Ace Frehley for continuing to tour. Rockstars like this are a rarity and not to be missed. A true living legend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ace Rules!

by nancyde on 7/13/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Went to this show when there were many other great acts playing on the same night- but hey- it was never an question for me- Ace Rules. It's that simple. He never disappoints. Even when his smoking guitar failed to smoke- so what- he doesn't need it. He rocks! Have been a fan for a long time and probably always will be. His band also deserves kudos for doing such a great job backing him up. Don't miss him when he is in town!

  • Rock Soldier!!!

by chefmike on 7/13/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Still a god after all these years! Ace took the stage by the balls and didn't let it go until you were thoroughly convinced of his rock royalty status. With the exception of "Sister" from 2010's Anomoly disc, Ace didn't play a song released after the "78 solo album. It may sound like a trip down memory lane but what a ride it was! Rocket Ride, Parasite, She, Love Her All I Can, Flaming Youth, Love Gun, Rip It Out, Snowblind-It was a virtual onslaught of all things rock and roll. Anton Fig and Richie Scarlett joined Ace onstage for a heavy but useless version of Foxy Lady( Definitley could've picked a better song) Of course there was New York Groove, Cold Gin and Deuce. A nice suprise encore was "Watching You", which Ace introduced as " a song that Gene used to sing" to which most of the audience responded with 'Fuck Gene!' It was a great night of hearing the classics by the real Ace-not some poser in a Halloween costume playing dress up. Also refreshing to not have to listen to Rock and Roll All Night, God Gave Rock and Roll To You or I Was Made For Loving You.

  • ACE WAS FANTASTIC

  • ACE FREHLEY AT BEST BUY THEATRE!!!!

by NYKISSFANETERNAL on 7/13/12Best Buy Theater - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

Saw Ace at the best buy theatre in times square july 11 2012. Ace sounded great!!!! I had heard the stories of sloppy playing and falling off the stage but ACE delivered the goods. I did the meet and greet as well. It was cool to meet Ace but it did leave a bad taste in my mouth because the picture with Ace did not come out as I had hoped and I'm trying to see if the picture can be salvaged. They need to give you time to make sure the photo is good and satisfactory to you before they send you on your way.

  • Ace Was Awesome

by JustaMusicFan on 11/9/11Crocodile Rock - AllentownRating: 5 out of 5

The night got off to a slow start however once it got rolling it was awesome. Ace and his band belted out classic after classic including plenty of KISS tunes. By the way, some of the KISS songs were songs I least expected to hear. The drummer sounds eerily like Paul Stanley and they took advantage of this. The other band members were sharp and helped make Ace sound perfect. This was an excellent show and well worth the money. I would definitely go again if Ace played within driving range of my house.

  • All The Best Solos

    by timm0 on 11/8/11Crocodile Rock - AllentownRating: 4 out of 5

Wasn't sure what to expect from Ace at this point. His band is skilled and strong. The drummer's voice was a dead ringer for Paul Stanley and the guitarist and bassist were both good singers in their own right, sharing vocals with Ace - especially when performing songs that Ace hadn't written or normally sung live. I didn't track the set list, but it felt there were too many Kiss songs that Ace had no writing credit for than I wanted to hear. But given that, it seems that the point of the show was to highlight all of Ace's best solos from yesterday and today. Ace's play was outstanding. Overall, a strong performance - especially from a musicianship perspective.

  • ACE FREHLEY

    by smoke2 on 11/5/11Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 5 out of 5

Ace can still perfom his amazing guital licks! He played a few KISS favorites an some of his solo album songs from 1978. SNOWBLIND was a favorite of mine and I hadn't see it played live since seeing ACE in the early 1990' in Providece. He also played HARD TIMES and some of his newer songs.

  • by Eddie3Car on 11/4/11Showcase Live - FoxboroRating: 4 out of 5

They show was great. The band was great. The fact Ace showed up 1 and a half hours late was not great. Kinda put a damper on the show really.
