Great show! John Waters is very funny and I loved every second.
John takes the dark side of comedy to a new level! He is a master at his delivery of the humor he conveys. If you ever get the chance to go see him, Do yourself a favor and Go! You will not be dissapointed!
Using your rating system, I would have to choose AMAZING, and then add a hundred stars. I've been a fan of John Waters forever and this is the first time I've seen him live. I now think I should quit my job and follow him to all his shows like the Grateful Dead. I laughed so hard that my throat hurts, and I can't wait to see his show again. I simply cannot wait until next year - I'll have to find out where his next appearance is. The man is an icon, my personal hero, and one sick puppy!
john was terrific - he is very creative and very funny - he talks so fast the he can take a two hour presentation and do it in 1.25 hours. I just laughed and laughed.
I got these tickets for my gf for Christmas. We went on Sunday and had an amazing time. We met awesome people.....sat RIGHT in front.....enjoyed the show completely......AND got to MEET John Waters!! His stand up was hilarious and he was sooo nice! I would recommend this to any one that likes crude, but very intelligent, humor.
He's thoughtful, insightful, and funny on TV. He was grungy and counted too much on startling the audience with crude language at the Birchmere. It was fun to see him live, but not worth the cost.. I'll not repeat the experience. I might recommend it to a friend but only with a lot of reservations.
Very enjoyable show from an intelligent, worldly and well-spoken man of very many talents. This show is not for anyone under 18, given the profanity and very stark descriptions of sex and drug use. He lost a lot of the crowd with his descriptions of modern artists and writers, and he lost another large section of the audience when he started getting into arcane terms for gay sex, and then again for various types of drugs. The content is highly entertaining and funny throughout, lasting about an hour, with about 20 minutes of open Q&A from the audience at the end. Then he makes himself available for photos and book signings.
Incredibly funny and irreverant. Not for the faint of heart
John Waters is a national treasure. I felt like I was listening to him in his living room.
Engaging and off beat commentary on a beloved holiday. Waters appeared more than comfortable sharing his experiences and as usual with him, laughter ensued.
Every Christmas show should mention Santa shaped chocolate butt plugs!
If all you know about John Waters is Hairspray.....do a little research before dragging out the credit card. If you remember Waters from the 70's, went to one of his films and then, giddy with delight, went to rest of them....take out the wallet, you won't want to miss this. Waters delivers 70's style. The act is 90 minutes of standup recollections and current observations sparing nothing and enough over the edge that the 70's fans will not be disappointed. He received three standing ovations, long and loud at the show I saw in Portland, Maine.
Just what I expected. Great stories and commentary. Thoroughly entertaining. Loved his red velvet suit.
If you are a fan of John Waters, this show is a must see! Whether he is talking about his lust for Justin Beiber or how great the holidays can be for criminals, you will be laughing the whole time!
this show was a laugh a minute. be prepared to be made fun of .
The venue sucks, very disorganized. He was late, though performed for an hour and a half straight, with no breaks, and was very funny.
I loved it. Great way to start the holiday. John Waters does contemporary art, film, pop culture, literature. He's freakin' hilarious. I love the Q/A at the end.
He was awesome and gracious. Made for a wonderfully disturbing evening
loved it! He was great! The Florida Theater is so beautiful, and his mind is so dirty: what a great combo! I laughed uncomfortably loud quite a few times
The show started on time, John was engaging and funny. He is a wonderful story-teller and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole show. The question and answer portion at the end was also a lot of fun.
