Chorus Line - Too much Talk and not enough Dancing

by CatWoman on 7/18/09Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

I was disappointed with the Chorus Line. I expected more singing and dancing instead of boring talk. The only scenes I liked was the first and the last. Too bad because I was really looking forward to this musical.

Chorus line was okay, not favorite musical.

by localgal on 7/18/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The singing and dancing were great. It did get a bit lengthy in the middle and at times was difficult to understand

A Chorus Line didn't WOW me

by Toeboegigio on 7/17/09Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

Many, many years ago I went to see A Chorus Line on stage with my Mom. Ever since, that has always been my favorite "Broadway Show" - although I've never been to Broadway. I was so excited when I heard it was showing in Milwaukee. However, this time it fell short of my memories. It just didn't have the pizzazz I remembered. From now on I'll only be watching the DVD version - live just didn't do it for me. Very sad.

    Chorus Line was marvelous!!

    by tat4 on 7/17/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

This is about the 5th time I've seen A Chorus Line in various places. It was just as good as ever. I took two friends who had not seen it and they were blown away.

by curlz on 7/17/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The show A Chorus Line was outstanding. I felt like I held my breath through the whole thing. I saw the live musical in the 1980's. And this time time my daughters, who are in dance and musical theater got to see it too. The dancing, the singing, and the acting were all incredible!! We wanted more.

    Chorus Line falls short

by NYEmily on 7/17/09Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

The tunes are still some of Broadway's best and the choreography some of Broadway's finest, but this touring production of "A Chorus Line" falls short with some of the show's major roles. I saw the show twice on Broadway, the original production. The roles of Cassie, Diana Morales, and Zach are key roles, and these 3 were not even close to the caliber one expects from a Broadway touring production. Donna McKechnie set the bar high, but this Cassie looks as though she can't reach the bar....weak portrayal. This company's Zach was totally lifeless, bland, lacking affect. And Diana Morales was about as un-Puerto Rican as you can get; acting class can teach anyone how to portray a tough little Puerto Rican from the Bronx...this girl spoke and sang like she came from Ohio. The cast as a whole delivers the dance numbers well, and the roles of "Paul" and "Mike" were well acted.

    A Chorus Line was great

by oakcreekshowgoers on 7/16/09Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

Have been wanting to see it for years and waiting for it to come to Milwaukee. The show was amazing. I've seen many musicals at Uhlien hall, but this has to be one of my favorites ever. Main characters were great!

    Chorus Line

by longtallsally on 7/16/09Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

Excellent with the exception of the "updated language"...no need for that and young people get enough of bad language.

    chorus line was entertaining

by suzee on 7/16/09Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

We enjoyed the show, though there were some uncomfortable moments since I had invited my mom, who is quite conservative. There was some language as well as some themes that we could have done without!

    Repeat Chorusline

by Ychap on 7/16/09Uihlein Hall Marcus Center - Milwaukee

The actors/dancers were talented and danced well. The music was played too fast and the songs that should have been show stoppers were not. The singers struggled to get all the words to their songs out. They sounded rushed.

Chorus Line has too many forgettable characters

    by sparkplug1 on 7/16/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The storyline is shallow with so many different characters the audience never gets hooked into the plot. If you have to go take a pillow for better sleeping during the show.

    Chorus Line - almost enjoyed

by crinch on 7/16/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

My seat was in Balcony and was in the highest ticket cost bracket. I could not understand most of the characters verbiage. So obviously understanding each characters back ground was critical to the play - well it was the play. The music drowned out the words. I was able to pick up bits and pieces - enough to get the jest of the story. But I wasn't there to get bits and pieces. I am not hard of hearing I am 40ish and felt like the Orpheum's sound was overbearing.

    Chorus Line was amazing

    by Barbie1 on 7/16/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

I had seen the show before at Chanhassen and also the movie, but this was much better. The seats were amazing, the talent was amazing. A must see for everyone, yes, that means the men too! It's one you would regret not seeing. I still wake up every morning with a different song in my head from the show!

    Chorus Line

    by Mickey2 on 7/16/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

Maybe it is because I have seen the movie 100 times, but the play did not even come close to my expectations. The singing was bad, the dancing was boring and the acting was hard to bare at some times. Some parts were SO long. Especially Paul's speech. It was so hard watching a guy named Bryan Knowlton try and do a Puerto Rican accent for what seemed to be an hour. The whole play was just boring.

A Chorus Line - Pure Entertainment

by LKaz on 7/16/09Orpheum Theatre - Minneapolis

The story is fun and a joy to watch. The dancing was drop jaw amazing. My only criticizm was the sound. The lyrics to many of the songs were drowned out by the big band. The syncronized dance numbers blew me away.
